schools & SportsSt ob’s SolWhen we say that to become a Columban is to become a part ofsomething special, we believe it. Find out more by visiting us duringOpen Week (Monday 7th - Friday 11th November) and experience ourthoroughly modern school in action! We take seriously our role in preparing our pupils for the exigencies of thereal world, arming them with all the skills they will need to build fulfilledlives as well-rounded individuals. While most of our former pupils go onto university, this route is not for everyone - some pursue further educationor go straight into industry. We can count executive chefs, runway modelsand military trainees as some of our most successful recent alumni. Our exam results frequently place us in the top 10 of Scottish independentschools - this collective success is to be lauded, but we celebrate individualachievement above all: every Columban is different and so are theirpersonal bests. Most of our pupils start St Columba’s in Junior School, where theyreceive a strong academic foundation. Play is very much a part of theinfant years’ experience, where pupils learn through curiosity in the wildwoods, our enclosed woodland area – the ideal outdoor classroom!Providing opportunities to learn in exciting ways, including through ourextracurricular clubs, outdoor education programme and individual musictuition, means that our Junior School children develop a love for learningthat stays with them throughout their lives. From Junior 1, children receivelessons in Art, Drama, French, Music and PE with a dedicated specialist. In Senior School, the options to develop and grow are limitless. Pupils cantake part in one of over 50 extracurricular clubs, meanwhile, participationin DofE or societies such as Pupil Council or Sustainability Club gives pupilsthe opportunity to explore their interests and test their leadership skills. Our Senior Years pupils run clubs, formally apply for prefect positions, and lead innovative programmes, such as Mentors in Violence Prevention,Mental Health Ambassadors and Peer Mentoring. We are incrediblyproud of our strong community and it is with programmes such as thesethat we can put that strength to the test.st-columbas.orgRegular Meet ClassesReebok Step ClassFreeland Church, Main Street, Bridgeof Weir (Opposite Amaretto)Tuesday: 6.45pmMiss the Original Reebok StepClass?
