Folio has remained in demand as a newspaper display face due
to its adaptability and broadened font family. Particularly in
advertising, its legibility in even extremely small font sizes has
proven to be a very helpful tool in both digital and print design.
The font was used by the Turkish organization Turmepa to promote its
message of ocean preservation to the public. Additionally, the GeorgiaTM
font family and Folio’s predecessor, Akzindenz-Grotesk, are the Red
Cross’ official typefaces, and all publications are set in one of them.

Akzindenz-Grotesk, created by Günter Gerhard
Lange and published by the Berthold Type
Foundry in 1896, was one of the earliest widely
used sans serif types. It was utilized in a range
of media right once. Its design is thought to have
been inspired by the Didot or Walbaum fonts
because comparable metrics appear when the

serifs of these earlier types are removed.
Based on the previous nineteenth-century grotesk
(or grotesque) faces, a group of new typefaces
known as neo-grotesque started to be created
in the 1950s. Akzindenz-Grotesk served as an
inspiration for a number of fonts, including the
UniversTM font family by Adrian Frutiger and the
1960 HelveticaTM font family by Max Miedinger
(first issued in 1957 as Neue Haas Grotesk).

Clacking through the pavements, I never thought I would
have picked up such an important skill. I did not know
how and why I learnt this ridiculous skill. I often ask
myself why am I running? Why do women run?
To get from point a to point b. To fetch coffee.
