Our story<br />
Cinas was founded under the name Carl J.<br />
Nielsen in 1903.<br />
Since the 1980s, the company has developed<br />
into the design, import and distribution company<br />
that we see today.<br />
All of our products are made with carefully<br />
selected manufacturers in the Far East, where<br />
the cooperation has functioned for generations.<br />
High-quality requirements are incorporated into<br />
this network, ensuring that our products always<br />
live up to our quality and finishing standards.<br />
We focus on furniture and accessories that<br />
emphasize their simplicity and functional<br />
expression, but still with a stylish edge with our<br />
design philosophy in mind: “A design is<br />
incomplete until someone uses it.”

Indoor<br />
Our indoor collection is known for combining innovative<br />
materials and commercial designs. All products are<br />
designed to fit into every contemporary setting.<br />
The collection consists of a wide range of commodities<br />
from durable carbonized bamboo to painted mahogany,<br />
Teakwoodwood and eco-friendly recycled polyester.<br />
The collection balances a strong focus on environmental<br />
concerns with Scandinavian aesthetics. Results from this<br />
comes alive in this <strong>2023</strong> indoor collection which favors<br />
function, comfort, CSR and style.<br />
Even though Cinas was founded more than 100 years ago,<br />
we still aim at keeping the standards high and the prices<br />
affordable with a high emphasis on reliability.<br />

“A product’s lifetime is crucial to the environmental<br />
load. It is a going concern if the aim<br />
is to operate in the most sustainable way<br />
possible. Products in use for a long time lead<br />
to a significantly less environmental impact<br />
than those wasted after a few years and<br />
needing regular replacement. The joy and<br />
satisfaction of a product that also stays<br />
spectacular and functional year after year,<br />
just gives sustainability a different meaning.”<br />
Bamboo grows extremely fast and is ready to harvest in<br />
4-6 years. Bamboo regenerates itself from its existing root<br />
system and is one of the fastest growing plants on earth.<br />
Giving 25 times more wood per hectare per year than<br />
traditional hardwood forests, it is an extremely sustainable<br />
material, and our natural choice for furniture.<br />
Fresh bamboo has a yellowish natural color, however, the<br />
bamboo we use for our furniture has gone through a<br />
steaming process (carbonizing) to gain the warm glow<br />
similar to untreated oak or teakwood.<br />
Vertical carbonized bamboo<br />
We have developed vertical carbonized bamboo production<br />
for use in our furniture. The vertical bamboo strips are glued<br />
and pressed together giving a slim and straight-line pattern<br />
with subdued bamboo shoot visible at the surface.<br />

Mahogany & Teakwood<br />
Polyester felt<br />
There are good reasons for selecting products made from<br />
wood. As well as being a beautiful, vibrant and natural material<br />
that feels good to touch, wood is a renewable resource.<br />
Unlike many other materials based on oil, coal or metals,<br />
wood is sustainable, recyclable, and decomposes naturally.<br />
From the perspective of climate control, our willingness and<br />
determination to manage forest resources is crucial, and<br />
consumers and producers need to know whether a piece of<br />
timber has sustainable origins.<br />
We began making felt baskets containing recycled polyester<br />
from plastic waste in 2010 – in order to transform waste into<br />
stylish products. Plastic is made from oil, which is a limited<br />
resource. A composition of new supplies combined with<br />
recycled material is carded into small threads, pressed and<br />
heated into polyester felt material. The end product becomes<br />
soft, strong and helps regain wasted resources into new consumer<br />
products.<br />
Certification systems backed by the EU and responsible<br />
timber producing countries document the path from forest<br />
to consumer, and Cinas has a firm policy in this regard. All<br />
of our timber and finished wood products are procured from<br />
producers covered by the two.<br />
