RADAR RED continued
Hal Hays plays Drums and adds
background vocals. Hal studied with
the Pacific Conservatory for the Performing
Arts in California. He was a
member of Atlantic Recording Artist
Bobby Caldwel’s “Tight Grip Band”.
Hal’s band “L. A. Storm” was featured
in a C. B. S. movie production
of “When A Stranger Calls” featuring
Justine Bateman. His L. A. Shows
include “The Whiskey a-go-go”,
“The Roxy”, “Bill Gazzaris” and the
“Troubadour”. Hal’s Las Vegas shows
include Breck Walls comedy musical
“Bottoms Up” and as a Tribute Artist
his performances include “Don Rose
Tribute to the King”, “Supernatural
a tribute to Santana”, “Jimi’s Image
a Tribute to Jimi Hendrix”, “Michael
John’s tribute to Billy Joel” and “Steve
Austin’s tribute to the Doors”. Hal
performed with “Piano Men” a tribute
to Billy Joel and Elton John on the production
of “The world’s greatest tribute
bands” on Axis T. V. which recorded at
the “Whiskey a go go” in Hollywood,
CA.The band has performed at various
fundraisers over the years and mostly
plays in Brevard county at several of
the larger venues. This past year found
them stretching over borders and playing
at some of the bigger Biker events
outside of Brevard County though.
Bands always are amazed at what their
audiences react to and Radar Red is no
different. Sometimes it’s a song like
Sunshine of Your Love and other times
it’s a song that a fan follows them from
show to show and puts their money
up for the song to be performed. Bill
shared with me how a fan did just that
and went to several shows always requesting
Smoke on the Water. Finally,
at one show he pulled out a large denomination
bill and waved it up in the
air with the request. Request granted!
The band works hard to bring the best
experience to those who come and
watch them. Billy T. told me, “As a
lead singer I am trying to connect with
everyone in the room, making them
enjoy the moment and forget about life
for a while.” He added, “The largest
crowd I’ve ever played in front of was
probably the Coco Expo 4th of July in
1989. It was about 3,000 people. I love
Rock & Roll and I’m going to keep
on doing it until I can’t do it anymore.
We’re just a bunch of old guys having
a lot of fun right now!” Now that
