Terrain in Poland

Strefy klimatyczne w Polsce

Poland lies in a temperate warm transitional climate. We are surrounded by different types of

temperate climate - maritime in the west and continental in the east.

There are 120 to 160 cloudy days

per year.

The average temperature in our

country ranges from 6°C; -8.5 °

C.The average summer

Our climate is temperate, warm and transitional,

characterized by quite high variability of weather during

the year. Winters can be both cold and mild, and summers

- hot or rainy.Warm masses of tropical air from the south,

rare in Poland, give tiring heat in summer and thaw in

winter.

Seasons:

Precipitation

Early spring 0*C - 5*C

Spring 5*C-15*C

Summer 15*C and above

Autumn 15*C-5*C

Pre-winter 5*C-0*C

Winter 0*C and below

The average annual rainfall is

about 600mm. Their distribution

is very uneven. The lowest

precipitation occurs in the

Central Polish lowlands and in

eastern Wielkopolska,

Mazowsze and Kujawy, and the

highest in the mountains, as well

Due to the mutual arrangement of the Azores High and the Icelandic Lowlands, moist polar-marine air

masses often flow to Poland from the Atlantic Ocean. In winter they bring warmth and snow or rain, and

in summer they bring cooling and rainfall. Dry continental air masses from the east bring frost in winter

and heat and drought in summer. The northern cold arctic air masses bring biting frost. Warm masses of

tropical air from the south give tiring heat in summer and thaw in winter.
