Well I am pleased to saythat this trend has continued. Some classeshave been lost but replaced by othersand parties are being booked on a regularbasis. To this end we have introduced anonline booking system which is proving tobe very useful and efficient. The bookingsecretary’s job was becoming almost fulltime so a system of booking and invoicing(with receipts and reminders and an on linediary) has been a worthwhile investment.To access the system one has to go to ournew website and follow the appropriatelinks. Our new website really shows offwhat we can offer and we are now seeingbookings from people further afield. Iwould encourage you to take a look atwww.woolastonmh.org.ukThe scrubby bushes in front of the hall havenow been removed by TrunkArb and by avoluntary digger and driver compliments ofGareth Rose. It has been seeded and the newgrass is beginning to make an appearance.A new beech hedge has also been plantedwhich will match our existing hedge.The new storage extension has been a realboon, now being fully used and storingmore than we could ever have donepreviously.We have invested £700 on new red, whiteand blue bunting (including some unionflags) for the village jubilee and other eventsincluding our carnival in a few weeks time.and lines women is expected to receiveplanning permission by end of May.The Football Club and the MemorialHall committees have met and agreedhow the new building will be fundedand maintained. Fund raising can beginin earnest once planning permission isapproved. Much of the work will beundertaken using volunteer craftsmen andlabour from the Football Club so that costscan be kept as low as possible. If you havea trade that you feel would be of use in theconstruction, please get in touch!The skate park committee have been busyduring the past 12 months and a separateupdate is elsewhere in the magazine.One of our biggest expenditures is oil forheating and we are all aware of the diresituation in that sector. Prices have doubledand whilst it would be easy for us to saythat the hire rates should be increased tomake up the difference, we are reluctantto do so at the moment. The hall is for thecommunity and the community is beinghard hit financially. Our current hire ratesare reasonable and affordable, so we do notwant to add to peoples’ stretched budgets.However, we will keep things under revueand act if absolutely necessary.The hall’s lottery is still contributing toour income and the numbers participatingremain fairly steady. We would love toget more people to join – there have beena number of new families move intoWoolaston in the past 2 or 3 years, so thereis an opportunity to boost the figures.
