Hatchery Row: Expanding Housing and Retail in Battle LakeBy Missy Hermesity and business leaders in Battle Lake have brokenC ground on an exciting project that will transform acity block, expanding the housing and retail scene. It willalso open up remote work options for people seeking tolive in rural Minnesota.The development is named Hatchery Row after theBattle Lake business that held this location for decades.The project designed by GoodNeighbors Property, incooperation with the City of Battle Lake and theirprogressive Economic Development Authority, willencompass three levels of residential and businessopportunities. The mixed use development also plansfor underground parking.Livability is a hot topic today and the apartment dwellersat Hatchery Row will have virtually every type of retailor service they need within a 2-block radius. Thisproperty is planning for 15-20 apartments all withinwalking distance of the post office, bakeries, pharmacy,restaurants, bars, hardware store, florist, and grocery store.Civic and cultural centers are close by as well. The LakesArea Community Center has plans to relocate from aformer church into the Hatchery Row building.
