Tiger Tea Zine (2nd Edition)

Tiger Tea Zine is an inclusive, safe space in which the goal is to empower Asian individuals to share their experiences about mental health, culture, identity, relationships, and more. Through visual arts and narrative storytelling, we humanize the AAPI community and fight against both mental health stigma and the generalizations of the model minority myth. **This is the digital version of the physical printed copies.

Thank you for reading the inaugural volume of Tiger Tea Zine.

I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did in putting it all together, and taking in all the

works, stories, art, and experiences the creators shared with all of us.

As I complete this project for my thesis at the University of Southern California, I

look onward to a future of better access to mental health, a better understanding of

what it means to be Asian, and overall, more openness in sharing who we are, what

we feel, hope, fear and dream.

Thank you to DJ Johnson, Elizabeth Ramsey, and Sonia Seetharaman for guiding

me through the process of creating this zine and encouraging me throughout my

academic career at USC.

Thank you to my Media Arts+ Practice cohort for all the silly times, and sharing the

stressful times - but most of all, for growing with me and inspiring me to become

a better creator and person.

Thank you to Emily Kohlhase, Deb Rossen-Knill, Joe Loporcaro, for sparking passion

in me, and supporting me to become my very best at the University of Rochester.

Thank you to Dr. Kavitha Finnity, for being there through the worst of times and the

best of times, and for giving me hope in times when it seemed impossible.

And thank you to you, my dear reader, for opening your heart and mind to our

stories, and being part of this journey in de-stigmatizing mental health, and

learning about the uniqueness and beauty of our asian identities.

Take care,

Kyle Ang
