Introduction
Our award-winning programme of Partnership and Community
Engagement is central to a Shrewsbury education. All pupils and staff
benefit from the experience of outreach, caring for and connecting with
others, and developing a strong sense of social responsibility.
We believe that it is important for the School to play its part in
striving for a fairer society and to improve the life chances of children
beyond the immediate community of Shrewsbury School. We share
opportunities and experiences and gain learning through mutually
supportive partnerships. By exchanging ideas and good educational
practice we learn and play a part in improving outcomes for all
children. By widening access, and removing barriers to entry, we create
a more diverse pupil population at Shrewsbury School.
Through a broad and evolving programme of community engagement,
we contribute to the betterment of the society of which we are part.
These pages are both a summary of the vibrant programme we are
delivering - and a call to action as we commit to developing this
programme in the years to come.
Leo Winkley
Headmaster
The Shrewsbury School community dedicates enormous time and energy to the
development of strong partnerships - we are always looking for ways to share expertise
and to harness our enthusiasms for mutual benefit.
Whether building strongly and creatively on foundations laid in
1903 at the ‘Shewsy’ in Everton, supporting the vital work of the
Youth Club there, or starting brand new projects with schools locally
or nationally via virtual initiatives, care settings or charities, we are
always aiming to find partners with whom to collaborate for the
greater good.
It is a source of quiet, but genuine pride to the School that we were
joint winners of the 2020 Independent School of the Year Award for
Community Outreach - recognition for the breadth and quality of
the work done by the Salopian community in this area. Since then we
have continued to develop and enhance our programmes, with many
new partners engaged.
Every successful project - whether recognised with accolades or largely
gone unnoticed - belongs to all those involved - it is testament to the
fact the School and its many wonderful partners can together achieve
great things.
Widening Access &
Helping Children
Through Boarding
Transformative bursaries
to widen access to
Shrewsbury School
Shrewsbury School awards charitable grants in the form of bursaries
in order to broaden opportunity and to ensure that the benefits of an
education at the School are accessible to those who do not have the
means to pay the full fee.
This enables us to increase the diversity of
our intake and to assist with social mobility,
ensuring that our student body is enriched.
Bursaries are funded from charitable
donations, commercial activities, modest
income from the School’s endowed funds,
and from School fee income.
Stronger Together...
The number of means-tested awards has
risen from 130 in 2016-17 to 194 in 2020-21.
The value of means-tested awards has risen
from £1.75 million in 2016-17 to £2.73
million in 2020-21.
In total £3.9 million of fee remission was
awarded in 2020-21.
Transformative bursaries are available to
those in need of 75%+ remission.
We work closely with the Royal National
Children’s Springboard Foundation, one of
the leading social mobility charities.
Positive Opportunities...
Looking forward the School will seek to:
Increase the number of transformative bursaries to 40 by building a
designated fund by 2030, through philanthropy, fundraising and the
development of alternative income streams to fund transformative
bursaries
Work with educational charities promoting social mobility
Work with local authorities to explore ways of supporting children in
care and on the edge of care.
Benefits and Impact...
While I cannot speak for all students, from personal experience I believe that the vast
majority of those who receive significant bursaries will not only make the most of what
Shrewsbury has to offer, but will also endeavour to contribute to school life. Stemming
from my gratitude, I certainly felt a strong desire to ‘pay back’ in any way I could, and to
achieve not only for myself but for the sake of the School and those members of staff who
had believed in me. I will always remain enormously grateful to The Schools for granting
me what was, without a doubt, a ‘transformative’ opportunity - made possible by that
90% reduction in fees. I cannot stress its benefits enough, and I sincerely hope that other
students will receive a similar gift.
Esmé O’Keeffe, (MSH 2013-15) Academic Scholar and transformative bursary recipient. Esmé
joined as a Sixth Form entrant. Amongst other achievements she became the first female Head
of School, captained the 1st XI hockey team and secured a place to read Latin and French at
Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.
Her two years in the Sixth Form saw her move from strength to strength and the
confidence gained from the motivational and nurturing environment of Shrewsbury led
to a degree from Cambridge and further post-graduate studies in Paris. The Shrewsbury
bursary also afforded Esmé an incomparable opportunity to meet and work with many
highly educated, interesting people, many of whom have become close friends. So, an
enormous thank you from the O’Keeffe family.
Kay O’Keeffe, Esmé’s mother
At the beginning of my time in Shrewsbury School I did not fully realise how impactful a
music award such as this could be - so many opportunities appeared for me at the school,
so many doors were opened because of it...
The fact that I was boarding at the school also made a huge difference - I was constantly
involved in life at the school, I was able to practise and study on a regular basis each day,
I had valuable educational contact with teachers from different departments around the
school and was able to build long-lasting friendships with other pupils. Being accepted
at the school not only as a music scholar, but as a full Charles Burney scholar gave me
an everyday incentive to be most productive, to improve as a musician, to flourish as a
person...
As far as life after the school is concerned, it must be said that it is very unlikely that I
would have gotten to the point of being a Master student at the Royal Academy of Music,
if it weren’t for the scholarship I had at Shrewsbury School. I had enough freedom at
the school to concentrate on studying the piano and piano performance, and the time I
spent gaining experience, building personality, contacts, acquiring knowledge on so many
different subjects, is irreplaceable. I do believe that my experience in Shrewsbury was a
crucial step forward in my musical upbringing and I would like to take this opportunity
to express my gratitude to the entire governing body at the school for their support and
care throughout the years!
Galin Ganchev, (Moser’s 2010-15) Music Scholar
Galin’s achievements as a scholar in Shrewsbury, the mentorship which he received, the
contacts he made and the experience he had, would have been difficult had he not studied
at this particular school! He grew as a concert pianist, he acquired diverse intellectual
skills and after he finished his education at the school, we were happy to see a mature,
young man, prepared for life.
‘The Shewsy’-
Shrewsbury House,
Everton
Founded by teachers from Shrewsbury
School in 1903, we have been
working in close partnership
with The Shewsy for
over 120 years
The Shewsy serves the Everton community, supporting young people
and nurturing potential, true to its motto of being a place ‘where
people matter more than things’.
Links between the School and The Shewsy remain strong at leadership and management level and in
terms of financial support. Every five years the whole school embarks upon a 20+ mile sponsored walk
over the Shropshire Hills of the Long Mynd to raise money to support social workers at the club. At
Christmas the Salopian Community supports The Shewsy’s ‘Big Give’ fundraising campaign. Working in
partnership with the Shrewsbury House Trustees we helped recruit and appoint a new Senior Executive
Officer to enable further development of the programmes and the provision at The Shewsy. We continue
to develop projects enabling young people from the School and from Everton to come together to share
experiences and to widen horizons.
Stronger Together...
We are always looking to bring young people
and staff together for mutual benefit, with
current activity including:
5 Social Studies residential trips per year
to The Shewsy - 60 Lower Sixth students,
attended for 2 days per trip.
Senior School pupils organise a fun day to
the school for Youth Club members.
Benefits and Impact
Illustrating the impact of our
partnership work on The Shewsy
and our pupils:
We’ve been very fortunate in our link and the fact that it seems to be going from strength
to strength... at the moment it’s probably at an all-time high in terms of the positive
working relationship that we have...
John Dumbell, Senior Youth Worker
The link between Shrewsbury School and The Shewsy in Everton undoubtedly helps a lot
of children and families in Liverpool, but it is also safe to say that we, as pupils here at
Shrewsbury School, have also benefitted hugely from this programme. After asking past
participants about what they learnt from this programme’s activities, our entry committee
has concluded that pupils, after the study trips, have gained a better understanding of
the huge economic disparity within the UK, how to deal with tricky situations, the
importance of community and a safe space during childhood, and also ways we can help
others despite our young age.
Milton Tai, Lower Sixth Pupil, Shrewsbury School
Shewsy School links: Our links with Shrewsbury School continue, and congratulations to
club member and Shewsy School scholar Josef Rooney-Magee on being awarded Under 16
player of the year in the Shrewsbury School football awards (2019). It has been a pleasure
to have Chad Usher from the School on a gap-term placement at the club from September
to November; it has been great to see him grow in confidence during his time in Everton.
Also that you Zainab from the School who spend 2 weeks volunteering at the club during
half-term.
Everton Telegraph, Christmas 2019
Now I am in my second year. The past year absolutely flew. I have met the most amazing
people in the world and I would not change anything. Getting the opportunity to
come here is a dream come true. The doors that have opened for me by coming here is
something else.
J. Rooney-Magee, Upper Sixth Pupil -
‘Shewsy Scholar’, Shrewsbury School
We are looking forward to our continuing partnership with The Shewsy
which will:
Working with
Charities, Service and
Volunteering
Volunteering is an important
feature of a Shrewsbury
Education
We are keen that Salopians develop a genuine sense of social
responsibility whilst at School, such that this will remain with them as
they go out into the world beyond our gates.
Students take the lead through house-based and whole-school fundraising activity as we
support a wide range of charitable causes close to home, nationally and internationally.
Time is also built into our weekly routines for service and volunteering, with many cocurricular
opportunities to contribute to the local community with long-established
projects working alongside new ones as need arises. In many cases new projects spring
from the initiative, enthusiasm and commitment of our students.
Stronger Together...
Through fundraising for charities, service and volunteering our
community is engaged in a wide range of activities including:
With Age UK (Shropshire, Telford and
Wrekin) a tea party for 200 guests to
celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Benefits and Impact
Our community of pupils and staff have
raised money for many charities:
2022: £85,000 raised with
Big Give at Christmas
2021-22: £110,000 raised
2020-21: £43,000 raised
with The Shewsy, in the
‘Big Give Campaign’
I just wanted to say how impressed I was yesterday with you all. Your interaction with the
Refugees was outstanding and you all did a great job.
Amanda Jones, ‘Shropshire Supports Refugees’
In the morning, we went to Woodfield infant school, where we got the opportunity to
work alongside younger kids. As expected, it was very different from volunteering in an
elderly care home. The classroom I was in had children aged 5 to 6. They were all very
energetic and playful kids, constantly talking , some of them were screaming or crying.
Despite it being so chaotic, the teachers were able to maintain control in the classroom.
3-D shapes were being taught on the day, and I got to build some models of 3-D shapes
with the kids. They were smarter than I expected, and managed to pick up some of the
harder shapes that I asked them. During break time, I ran around the playground with
some of the kids in the class. They were all very happy I’d talk to them and play with
them, and it was equally enjoyable for me as well.
Lower Sixth volunteer
It was a pleasure to have your students. I’ve had really positive feedback from all the staff
they worked with.
Deputy Head, Woodfield School
This is the second academic year that we have had 2 students on placement with us at the
Barnabas Community 360 Project which also includes the Foodbank Plus.
The main aim is to provide students some insight as to what services the project offers to
clients. They include not only the Foodbank but a garden and woodwork group, a 6 week
cookery course, walking group, debt advice and a programme helping clients to get back
into work which includes computer skills advice, applying for jobs, interview techniques
and each person has a mentor.
The students on placement work alongside clients from Easter onwards in the gardening
project and outdoor activities and from September help with the newly formed Cost
Club where clients who are usually isolated come to an informal group to chat, have tea
and cake and do some sort of activity/hobby which the students have started to plan
themselves. The students have also helped out in the food bank and sorting out suitable
clothes for clients to have to attend interviews.
The students have made a valuable contribution to the project, are always enthusiastic,
relate well with clients and adapt to the different activities. Most of all the clients are
always pleased to see and chat to them.
We enjoyed working with Shrewsbury School staff Stuart Cowper and Naomi Pritchard,
nothing was too much trouble for them to organise ensuring our older people had a
wonderful day out. The day itself was superb with a lovely atmosphere and plenty of
activities on offer to entertain people. For me, the highlight of the day was watching the
students interact with the older people ensuring they had a wonderful time by chatting to
them and waiting on them. It was super special to see young and old dance together too.
Emma Wilde, Manager of Wellbeing Services for Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin
I am pleased to give feedback on the young ladies who have visited our residents on
Thursday’s throughout term time.
Jennifer, Kaitlyn and Emilie have been a real asset during their visits. It is not easy to keep
up to 14 residents, all of varying personalities, entertained so they are to be congratulated
for their efforts.
The role they are allowed to play within the home can be limiting but that has not stopped
them from creating a positive atmosphere and throwing themselves into activities during
their visits.
I have received only positive feedback from the staff and feel that you can be quite proud
of the way in which each of the young ladies represent the school.
Our residents value any contact that they have outside the home and Jennifer, Kaitlyn
and Emilie have no problem sitting, one to one, and chatting, which can be daunting for
young people sometimes, but all three young ladies have taken it in their stride.
Whatever chosen career path they take after school I have no doubt they will be happy
and successful.
Sandra Robinson, Senior Administrator/Placement Coordinator
They are polite, welcoming and supportive towards the children when reading with them.
They follow task instructions and ask appropriate questions around the story they are
sharing. It has been beneficial to all children having this additional reading support.
Mount Pleasant School
Today’s session at Briarfields was quite eventful. We went around the care home surveying
the residents about their life and Briarfields, it was clear to see that everyone had different
personalities as some residents were much more talkative than others. They all had similar
views towards the care home but most of them had the desire for more entertainment
services. I very much enjoyed talking to all the residents as they were all very friendly and
willing to engage with us. The staff at Briarfields have also been very helpful in getting
us settled in and making sure that we know our way around the house. They have also
directed us to have short chats with different people of different backgrounds, I found that
it was very interesting talking to all the different residents about their lives.
Lower Sixth Volunteer
Positive Opportunities...
We will be continuing to grow our support for charities, services and volunteering through:
Incorporating even more volunteering, service and charity work into our Thursday activity
programme, to ensure greater year group/ whole year group participation
Increasing the scope of our Thursday activities programme across all year groups to support more local
services and charities
All school boarding houses will have a nominated charity or service project.
DarwIN
Festival
Shrewsbury School is proud to work with local partners to help shape and deliver the
town’s annual DarwIN Festival. Events take place over a week and lead to a birthday toast
to Charles Darwin on the 12th February. It is fitting that the School should be at the
heart of such celebrations given that Charles Darwin is our most famous former pupil and
that his thinking and scientific method continues to inspire locally, nationally and around
the world.
Stronger Together...
We contribute to the annual DarwIN Festival by:
Working with local organisers and key
stakeholders to provide a rich, attractive and
accessible programme both for children and
adults.
Focusing on engaging with primary and
secondary schools to widen and to deepen
a knowledge of Charles Darwin and his
family, as well as an appreciation of his life
and legacy as a scientist.
Offering a charitable concert in town to give
a musical focus to the programme.
county and beyond.
Benefits and Impact...
Students learn more about Darwin as a pupil
at school as well as his childhood and roots
in the town.
Work done to showcase the School’s Darwin
collection to the public also benefits students.
The School can forge wider links with the
town related to promoting a shared Darwin
heritage.
Students (and wider public) have been able
to access lectures given by experts in a wide
range of Darwin / evolution-related areas.
Our DarwIN Festival materials have been
used also by Expert Ed, a national on-line
collaboration between state and independent
schools, in support of curriculum
enrichment.
Positive Opportunities...
Further promote Darwin within the county - offering materials and
opportunities to find out more about his life and work
Contributing
to Teacher
Training
We are enthusiastically seeking to work more closely with a range of academic institutions
and training organisations supporting the development of teachers and contributing to the
training of teachers.
We have enabled teaching colleagues to support PGCE students at Liverpool John Moores
University as they prepare to enter the profession and we have recently joined forces with
Liverpool Hope University and the Classic Hub based at Liverpool College to support the
drive to train Classics teachers and widen access to the subject in the state sector.
Locally we are working with partners in Shropshire to provide placement opportunities for
teachers across the wider curriculum.
Stronger Together...
Through contributing to teacher training
we are:
Undertaking flexible recruitment including
unqualified candidates who will then
be trained through studying a PGCE
qualification.
Supporting qualified colleagues with their
ECT induction.
Working with PGCE students via Liverpool
John Moores University - support for
students in Geography and more generally in
panels aimed to help aspiring teachers with
applications, not least to independent sector.
Sharing INSET - including recently
promoting digital safeguarding and practical
approaches to supporting children with
learning differences in the classroom.
Providing placements for trainee teachers
from the Salop Teaching School Alliance
across a range of subjects including Music,
Maths, Geography, Philosophy & Theology,
History and Spanish.
Developing a Classics Hub (with Liverpool
College/Liverpool Hope University/
Wolverhampton Girls High School) to train
classicists via Schools Direct.
Benefits and Impact...
Contributing to teacher training provides a
holistic benefit across our school positively
impacting both staff and pupils:
PGCE and ECT students bring new ideas
and thinking about pedagogy which benefits
mentors, faculties and potentially wider
teaching body.
Faculties keep up-to-date with Teachers’
Standards, especially in terms of leaders -
benefits T&L more widely.
Mentors have strong professional
development.
There is greater understanding of a wider
educational context, including challenges
and opportunities.
36 37

Illustrating the impact of contribution to teacher training:
Completing a PGCE mathematics teacher training placement with
Shrewsbury School has been a fantastic learning experience. My school
mentors have given me opportunities to stretch and grow, whilst ensuring
I am fully supported and set up for success. Beyond the classroom, I have
been given the chance to take on co-curricular activities and boarding house
responsibilities which have enabled me to enjoy the full breath of the school
experience. I am hugely grateful the staff and students at Shrewsbury for
making my time here so rewarding.
Richard Philips, Maths PGCE Trainee Teacher
I’m now approaching my third week as a PGCE teacher in Shrewsbury
School and have felt incredibly welcomed by the ever-lovely History faculty.
The support offered by staff both within and outside of the department has
been immense, offering a fantastic opportunity to learn from the world-class
teachers of Shrewsbury. The History faculty has allowed me to step into the
classroom at my own pace, creating a professional environment of comfort
and support, whilst offering a plethora of advice, spanning from lesson ideas
to future career opportunities. I’ve also been welcomed into the History of
Art department, providing the opportunity to develop my teaching skill set
even further.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the huge variety of extracurriculars available at
Shrewsbury, of which I’ve joined MUN, the Junior History Society, and the
Adventure Club. This offers an opportunity to get to know my students and
their interests, develop my own skills, and try something new. This, in hand
with the academic prowess of Shrewsbury, shapes staff into well-rounded
teachers, willing to get involved in all aspects of school life and connect with
students.
After being assigned to Rigg’s as a House Tutor, I’ve recently been given
greater insight into the lives of our borders. Helping students with their
topschools and getting to know them on a personal level has been such
a rewarding experience, and it’s wonderful to see the dedication of our
students to their studies, societies and House.
Positive Opportunities...
We will be increasing our contributions to teacher
training through:
Developing deeper relationships with Liverpool John
Moores University by bringing their PGCE students
to Shrewsbury to teach and to observe
Seeking to develop relationships with the Salop
Teaching School Alliance
Actively recruiting and supporting colleagues
wishing to join the profession without QTS as and
when the relevant opportunities arise.
Governance
Shrewsbury School staff serve in
governor or trustee roles in a number of
state-maintained settings close to the
school and across Shropshire
Through working at this strategic level, opportunities for sharing good practice and ideas
and for exploring other partnership opportunities are commonly identified.
As with all such roles the time commitment is significant, but the chance to work with
other governors and school leaders to promote educational outcomes is enormously
rewarding.
Stronger Together...
Currently 14 members of staff are involved
as governors or trustees in state-maintained
settings:
11 secondary schools, 9 primary school and
2 specialist schools currently supported.
Work has included support during and after
Ofsted inspections.
Work has been in support of developing and
expanding academy trusts.
Support for child protection and
safeguarding policies and procedures is
provided.
Support for maintaining and improving
educational standards is provided.
Benefits and Impact...
Since becoming a Trustee in November 2018 Stuart has used his knowledge and
experience to contribute actively to debate and discussions that have helped form the
strategic plan for the Marches Academy Trust (MAT). The MAT now has nine schools,
five primary and four secondary, totalling nearly 5,000 students across Shropshire. Stuart
is a well-respected member of the Trust Board and adds a dimension that enriches the
strategic direction of the MAT. We have found his input to be very valued.
Marches Trust
I have been delighted with their work and contribution through governance of our schools
and trust. In different ways, they have all demonstrated a professional commitment to
the importance of this role - attending pupil discipline committees, link governor groups
in day and boarding settings, training on the use of data and on the role of a governor,
attending a strategy day for a new headteacher, being part of the appointment process for
the new CEO - this list is impressive, thorough and shows an essential level of dedication
to these roles.
Former CEO of 3-18Education Trust Feb 2022 referring to the work done
by 7 colleagues in Trustee or Governor roles over the past year
This brings mutual benefit: our staff gain further knowledge and
understanding of leadership and management issues in whole-school
contexts; the schools benefit from their commitment and dedication to
improving educational outcomes for the students.
Positive Opportunities...
More Shrewsbury School staff are keen to take up governor roles as these become available
Meeting more educational leaders and teachers will lead to greater collaboration and mutual benefit -
for teachers and ultimately for students.
Widening
Participation
in Sport
We are passionate about extending participation and opportunity in
sport, both working with local partners and with regional and national
sporting bodies.
Our indoor and outdoor facilities are excellent in quality and quantity, and this means
that we can support access to sport both at recreational and competitive levels throughout
the year.
Stronger Together...
We have been working with partner organisations for many years to expand the sporting horizons of
young people and to provide them with an opportunity to engage and excel in sports through:
taster sessions for rowing and fives. 450
pupils involved overall.
Hosting The Severndale Specialist
Academy School sports day.
Supporting local talented cricketers to
achieve county selection.
Benefits and Impact...
Through widening the participation in sports we have:
Supported local young people to engage in new sports and improve their
existing skills.
Enabled ‘County Gateways’ in various sports for young people and our
pupils to access highly qualified coaches.
Reduced travel time to tournaments / county training and events for
participants.
young people across our 10 schools. The Team at Shrewsbury School has
created opportunities for our multi academy trust that will stay with our staff
members, children, and young people for a lifetime.
Shrewsbury School have hosted The Marches Academy Trust Varsity Games
for our primary and secondary schools along with our sixth forms. These
events are sporting competitions within our multi academy trust. Shrewsbury
School have been able to give our children and young people the opportunity
to participate at world class sporting facilities. Alongside our Varsity Games,
in 2022, Shrewsbury School hosted The Marches Academy Trust Primary
Physical Education Awards, the Shrewsbury team supported the event with
facility hire and IT support at no cost. Without partnerships like this, we
wouldn’t be able to offer these opportunities to our children and young
people.”
Encouraging
Communities
through
Activities
Art
The Shrewsbury School Art Faculty enthusiastically promotes artistic creativity in the
local community, with both staff members and students actively engaging in projects with
younger children from local state schools.
In recognition of its efforts and achievements, not least in its engagement with the wider
community, the Faculty was shortlisted for the 2020 Times Educational Supplement
Creativity Award.
Stronger Together...
in the ‘Big Draw’ event. They participate in
a carousel of creative activities, aided by Art
Scholars and other student volunteers.
As part of our Thursday afternoon Activities
Thank you so much for giving our children this fab opportunity to become part of
your community. The children were so well engaged and enjoyed every activity they got
involved in. The organisation of the event was so well structured and considered from
the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Please thank Lucy (Head of Art) and her
students for their support and enthusiasm.
Music and Dance
The Shrewsbury School Music and Dance Faculties work independently, and often work
together, to share productions with a wider audience and to extend cultural opportunities
to people of all ages in the community.
The excellence and diversity of what is produced by the School’s musicians, singers
and actors provides great entertainment and pleasure, whether on site, locally or on the
road nationally. Working with children from primary school age all the way through
to senior citizens, the opportunity to join in is extended to music lovers of all ages and
backgrounds.
Stronger Together...
Positive Opportunities...
We are looking forward to further creative partnerships with the
local community:
More singing planned with the development of a Year 5
Primary School choir
Greater collaboration with ‘In Harmony’ supporting primary
school music- via the Birmingham Conservatoire
Using the new Barnes Theatre to explore opportunities for
offering dance and theatre to a wider community
Starting ‘Sinfonia’ - for young musicians at the very start
of their musical careers.
The School has a remarkable number of projects aimed at involving the wider community:
‘Symphonic Sundays’ bring together
young musicians (Age 7-13) to give them
the opportunity to develop playing their
instrument with others.
Our Head of Chapel Choir has developed
three primary school choirs, culminating in
performances before large audiences.
‘Community Choir’ has close to 150
members of the general public.
‘Town Symphony Orchestra’ has c70
members.
Our music events programme is open to
the general public, often free of charge - it
brings enormous social and cultural benefit
both to the town and to the School.
‘Concert Party’ is a Thursday afternoon
activity where our students perform music
and song in care homes, local state schools
and in support of ‘In Harmony’.
Many concerts are in support of worthy
local charities - in 2018-19 over £14k was
raised.
Over 100 Shrewsbury School students are
involved annually in these projects.
Our Dance studio has welcomed primary
schools for whole day workshops and also
weekly lessons, developing fitness, creativity,
and confidence through performance.
Benefits and Impact...
Illustrating the impact of our partnership and community work through performance:
It was a wonderful experience for her to play with a range of other musicians that she
doesn’t normally get. Unfortunately at school there is no orchestra... I am very grateful
to yourself and to the other teachers and Shrewsbury School for giving up your Sunday
afternoon and allowing her the opportunity.
You worked wonders with them in such a short time and it was amazing for him to feel
part of such a big orchestra.
