About

Homestay

YOGOFUN takes homestay arrangement very seriously as we understand

it is one of the most concerning topics for parents!

Host family is carefully selected and matched through a professional

homestay company. All hosting families will undergo an interview process

so we may learn about the family background, culture, and the settings of

the home. We will also collect and forward the desired matching criteria from

parents and students so that students are placed into the most suitable

homestay family. For example, parents/students may request to be matched

with families that have younger/older kids or those with/without pets, etc.

We will place two to four students into one hosting family. Before departure

to Canada, information about the host family will be shared with the students

and parents.

The host family will prepare three meals a day for students. The chaperon

of the group will prepare other types of cuisine twice a week to satisfy their

craving for home country food.

Week 1

Canadian Secondary School

Morning: ESL Classes

Classes are taught by B.C. government-certified

teachers. The morning portion of this program

focuses on practical speaking, listening,

reading, vocabulary, and writing skills.

All students will write an ESL Assessment

Test at the beginning of the program.

Students will receive a formal report card

and a certificate of completion.

Afternoon: Outdoor Activities

The afternoon portion of the program is a

practical extension of the morning ESL class.

culture and use newly learned English skills and

vocabulary by participating in group activities

and by exploring the beautiful outdoors of the

Lower Mainland of British Columbia.

Week 2

Grouse Mountain

As Vancouver’s most popular attraction, Grouse

Mountain is the only truly four-season destination

in the Lower Mainland. It features a wildlife refuge,

vast selection of dining options, thrilling outdoor

adventure, summer activities galore, the best in local

snow sports, and much more!

Fruit Picking

Once the warmer summer weather finally arrives,

there are plenty of spots throughout the Fraser Valley

and Lower Mainland where we can go out into the

fields and pick a variety of local berries, ranging from

strawberries, raspberries, to blueberries!

PNE Playland

Playland is Vancouver’s amusement park that is

loved by kids and adults alike. It has all kinds of

rides including two roller coasters, one being a 50+

year-old wooden antique. There are also thrills like

the AtmoFear and the DropZone, which is a reversebungee-jump

machine that shoots up through the air.

Experiencing the aboriginal culture

Canadian aboriginal culture is a very precious asset.

We arrange for students to learn about Canadian

aboriginal culture through handcrafts. The completed

handicrafts can also be taken home by students to

share and keep as a souvenir with their families!

Group B Special Program

Rocky Mountains Trip

Day 1: Vancouver > Hope > Kelowna > Revelstoke

Hope is a beautiful town from the gold rush era a hundred years ago and was also

the location for the movie “First Blood,” where you can experience the movie scenes

and take a break. Passing through Okanagan Lake, which is known as “the sunny

place” and recognized as the fruit basket of Canada, you can admire the 351 square

kilometers vast lake looking for the mythical Indian water monster Ogopogo.

The Okanagan Valley is a unique wine-producing region, nestled between the Coastal

Mountains in the west and the Monashee Mountains in the east. The rain shadow

formed by this stratum has a deficient annual rainfall. In addition, there is a significant

difference in temperature between day and night. This temperature difference allows

the grapes to retain a balance of aroma, freshness, and acidity while retaining their

sugar content, which contributes to the quality of the wine being produced. The Last

Spike Monument in Revelstoke is a historical site. The Pacific Railway was the driving

force behind the development of western Canada, and the Last Spike connected the

east and west coasts of Canada. However, behind the glorious mark of Canadian unity

more than 100 years ago lies the history of Chinese workers’ blood and sweat.

Day 2: Revelstoke > Banff Gondola > Bow Fall > Banff

Banff National Park is Canada’s first national park, established because of the

discovery of hot springs by the railroad. Banff Sulphur Mt. Gondola is one of the

most famous activities in Banff. The fully enclosed gondola takes you up 700 meters

in eight minutes to the 2,281-meter-high upper gondola station. You can enjoy the

360-degree observation deck with breathtaking views of the peaks or stroll along

the well-built pallet to the meteorological observatory built in the early 20th century.

If you’re a Starbucks fan, you can’t miss the tallest Starbucks in Canada at the

Lower Gondola Station. We have arranged a special evening light show at the top.

Bow Falls is famous for its fast-flowing water and was made famous by Marilyn

Monroe in 1953 when she filmed a scene for River of No Return. Surprise Corner

is a must-see for photography enthusiasts who would never have thought that a

seemingly normal road bend would have a breathtaking view of the Banff Springs

Hotel and the Sulphur Mountain behind it.

Day 3: Banff > Lake Louise Ski Resort > Lake Louise > Fairmont Lake Louise

Banff Town is a beautiful European-style town in the Rocky Mountains and the

largest commercial area in the National Park, with restaurants, hotels, shopping, and

entertainment. Lake Louise Ski Resort is in the Whitehorn Mountains where you can enjoy

the excitement and fun of snow tubing. We will provide you with the use of snow tubing

equipment, so you can enjoy the whole afternoon here. Lake Louise, named after the

beautiful Princess Louise of the British royal family, is the most famous lake in the Rocky

Mountain National Park. The poppies bloom in June and July in the summer and the ice

sculpture exhibition at the end of January in winter are the main attractions.

Day 4: Lake Louise > Yoho National Park > Rogers Pass > Salmon Arm

Yoho means surprise and wonder in the Cree language. Yoho National Park is home to

Canada’s tallest waterfall, world-class fossil sites, and natural landscapes. Rogers Pass

was built when the Pacific Railway could not safely pass through the mountains because

of the steepness of the western mountains. Thus the Canadian Pacific Railway issued a

notice asking for help in finding a suitable location for the railroad, until a Pacific Railway

engineer discovered the canyon in 1881. In honour of his contribution to east-west

transportation across Canada, the mountain pass was named after Roger, the discoverer.

Day 5: Salmon Arm > Kamloops > Vancouver

Manna is a major producer of American ginseng in North America. A special visit to the

ginseng farm in Kamloops will introduce students to the planting, growing, harvesting,

and manufacturing process of American ginseng. In the afternoon, we will return to

Vancouver by car to end our unforgettable trip to the Rocky Mountains.

ABOUT US

YOGOFUN has been in planning for quite some time and this baby was finally

born in February 2016!

It has been over 23 years since the founder, Ady J.T. Liu, moved to Vancouver.

She fell in love with the local culture and education system after participating

in a study tour. Graduated from Simon Fraser University and with years of working

experience in a local company, she applied and was granted permanent residence

status in Canada. Now she would like to give back to her hometown through

YOGOFUN, so that students who are interested in visiting or studying in Vancouver

can feel the warmth and substantial support in a foreign land.

With a lively, cheerful, and responsible personality, Ady selflessly shares her years

of experience of studying and living in Canada, so that new generation of students

can expand their worldview in a professional, safe, and engaging way. Learn and

have fun in an extraordinary way by personally experiencing the Canadian culture

and be inspired by the diversity and uniqueness that Canada offers. YOGOFUN is

determined to help students improve their global vision and be ready to step into

the real world to achieve whatever they endeavor in the future.
