Girgarre Gazette March 2023 pg 16
Respect for: |
self | others | learning | environment
It has been a productive start to 2023 for students at Girgarre Primary School. We’ve welcomed Emily Gezun as P-2 teacher
and she will be with us for the best part of Term 1. Jess Nelson has also joined the team as a music therapist, providing 1:1,
small group and whole-class sessions.
There are 23 students enrolled this year and we think that these children are the luckiest – they have fantastic resources, both
inside and outside the classroom, and have opportunities that are rare to see in larger schools – such as riding bicycles at
recess and lunch times, taking trips to the theatre (we’re off to see Mary Poppins in Melbourne next month!) and developing
strong friendships with other children, regardless of their age and year level.
Our school captains for the year and Holly O’Neill and Adele Seabrook. We know that they will be fantastic role models and
leaders for the rest of our student population. Destinie Clark and Ruby Marjoribanks have been elected sports captains while
Mayley Patten-Boers will lead the Junior School Council (in her role as President), supporting the other members (Lilly Taylor,
Maddy Taylor, Evie Patten-Boers and Ollie Schwarze).
We hosted our Welcome Night on 15 February and it was fantastic to see everyone again and to welcome the families of our
new Prep students. We have three Prep students in 2023: Flynn Withall, Vitani Summers and Amelia James.
On 21 February, the P-2 class are off to Girgarre Kindergarten for Shrove Tuesday. The 3-6s will stay at school and have their
own fun cooking (and eating) the delicious pancakes.
Flynn Withall, one of our new Prep students.
