Editor’s Note

Dear readers,

A brand new season has arrived and we couldn't be more thrilled! I

hope the new year has brought you joy, excitement, and endless

possibilities.. With a fresh start, comes new opportunities and a

renewed sense of excitement.

It's time to embrace the future with open arms and an optimistic

heart. So, let's imagine the endless opportunities that await us in

2023 and beyond.

Here's to a year filled with love, kindness, and abundance for you,

your loved ones, and all the amazing things that life has in store!

FRESH START,

FABOLOUS YOU

Embrace the power

of a new year transformation

The start of a new year is a time of reflection and goal-setting. Many of us make resolutions with

the best intentions, but sticking to them can be challenging. Whether you're looking to lose weight,

save money, or learn a new skill, here are some tips to help you stay on track and make this year

your best yet.

01

Be specific:

Rather than making a vague resolution

like "I want to be healthier," set specific,

measurable goals. For example, "I want

to lose 10kgs by March" or "I want to run

a 5k by June."

04

Accountability partner

Share your resolutions with someone

you trust and ask them to hold you

accountable. You can also join a support

group or a class related to your goal to

connect with others who share your

interests.

02

Make a plan:

05

Be realistic:

Once you've set your goals, create a plan

of action. Break your goals down into

smaller, manageable steps and schedule

time each week to work on them.

03

Track your progress:

Keep a record of your progress. This can

be a calendar, or an app that tracks your

progress. Seeing how far you've come

can be a great motivator.

Remember that change takes time and

effort. Be realistic about the time and

resources you have available and don't

set yourself up for failure by trying to do

too much too soon.

06

Be flexible:

Life happens and things don't always go

as planned. If you fall off track, don't beat

yourself up. Instead, adjust your plan and

get back on track as soon as you can.

06 Reward yourself:

Give yourself small rewards for reaching your milestones. It could be something simple such as

buying yourself a book, watching your favourite movie or taking a day off.

Following these tips can increase your chances of sticking to your resolutions and making real,

lasting change. Remember, it's not about being perfect, it's about making progress. Happy New

Year, and best of luck on your journey to a new you!

DRIVE WITH

A SMILE

The power of a positive

attitude behind the wheel

by Mibsam Chindundundu

Driving is a daily activity that many of us

take for granted. But have you ever stopped

to think about the attitudes and emotions

that we bring with us when we get behind

the wheel? Our driving behaviors can

greatly impact not only our own safety, but

the safety of others on the road.

Be patient: Traffic can be frustrating, but try

to avoid getting angry or aggressive. Instead,

give yourself plenty of time to reach your

destination and be patient with other drivers.

Positive driving attitudes are key to ensuring

a safe and smooth drive. Here are some tips

to adopt a more positive outlook on the

road:

Practice empathy: Try to put yourself in the

shoes of other drivers. For example, if someone

cuts you off, they may be in a hurry to reach a

hospital or attend an emergency.

Stay relaxed: Avoid getting overly

stressed or upset while driving. Take deep

breaths, listen to calming music, or simply

give yourself a moment to cool down if

necessary.

Focus on the present:

Distracted driving is a major cause of accidents. Put

down your phone, avoid eating while driving, and

concentrate on the road ahead.

Show respect: Use turn signals, obey traffic signals,

and avoid tailgating. Remember that you're sharing

the road with others, and treating them with respect is

key to a safe and enjoyable drive.

By adopting these attitudes, together we can create a safer, more harmonious environment on

the roads. So the next time you hit the road, remember to drive with a smile and spread

positivity behind the wheel.

SETTING

BOUNDARIES

The Key to Prioritising

Self-Care in Personal

Relationships

Self-care is essential for maintaining our physical and mental well-being, but it can be difficult to

prioritise it when we have many responsibilities and relationships in our lives. One of the most

important aspects of self-care is setting boundaries, which can help us create the space we need

to take care of ourselves. In this article, we will explore how to set boundaries and prioritise

self-care in personal relationships.

First, it's important to understand that

setting boundaries is not about being

selfish or rude. It's about taking care of

yourself and your needs, and communicating

them to others in a clear and respectful

way. By setting boundaries, you are creating

a healthy balance between taking care of

yourself and being there for others.

One of the most important steps in setting boundaries is to

be clear and specific about what you need. This

means identifying your own needs and wants, and being

honest with yourself and others about them. For example, if

you need some alone time after work to relax and recharge,

it's important to communicate this to your partner or

friends so they can understand and respect your needs.

Another important step in setting boundaries is learning to say

"no" when you need to. Saying "no" can be difficult, but it's

necessary if you want to prioritise your own needs. Saying "no" can

be as simple as setting a limit on how much time you spend with

someone, or declining an invitation to do something that you don't

feel comfortable with.

It's also important to set boundaries around technology and

social media. With the constant influx of notifications and

messages, it can be hard to disconnect and focus on self-care.

Setting specific times of the day when you will check your phone or

social media can help you create a balance between staying

connected and taking care of yourself.

In addition, it's important to set boundaries in your relationships by communicating your

needs, wants and expectations clearly and respectfully. When these expectations are

not met, it is also important to communicate your disappointment and work together to find a

solution, to avoid any resentment or dissatisfaction in the relationship.

In conclusion, setting boundaries is a key aspect of self-care and it is essential for maintaining

healthy relationships. By being clear and specific about your needs, learning to say "no," setting

boundaries around technology, and communicating your expectations clearly, you can create the

space you need to take care of yourself, while still being there for others.

Remember that setting boundaries is not about being selfish, it's about taking care of yourself

and your needs.
