University of Gloucestershire Rugby League Club
The University of Gloucestershire All Golds Rugby
League Football Club currently competes in the
British University and Colleges Sports (BUCS)
National Super 6 Competition, involving the top
6 rugby league teams in the country. The club
also supports a reserves side ‘the All Blues’, which
compete on a Wednesday afternoon in BUCS
Wales and West division.
The 2011/12 season was the most successful so far
in the club’s history, with the club: being national
semi-finalists; victorious in the Salford 9s Festival
against Super League opposition; making further
progress in the Rugby League Challenge Cup
and with the ‘All Blues’ being semi-finalists in
the BUCS Shield. For the first time in the sport’s
history, a university club will enter rugby league’s
professional ranks when, in 2013, the University of
Gloucestershire All Golds will take their place and
compete in the Co-operative Championship 1.
The Rugby League Club provides a
comprehensive support package for its players, as
well as boasting a structured training programme
which consists of multiple weekly training sessions
with access to a variety of other services provided
on the Oxstalls Campus at the university.
Rugby League Training programme:
Sunday: 6.00-8.00pm
Monday: 6.00-8.00pm
Tuesday: 8.00-9.00am
Wednesday: BUCS League/Cup Fixture
Thursday: PM Rehabilitation session
Friday: PM Physiotherapy Clinic
In addition to physical conditioning sessions,
team meetings and shared training sessions will
be scheduled. The training schedule is subject to
change throughout the season.

Club Partnerships
The All Golds are partnered with Leeds Rhinos,
one of the greatest and best-known rugby clubs
in the world. Best practice is shared with the
Leeds club in all aspects. This relates to every area
of club management including playing, coaching,
media, marketing, medical and administration.
The University of Gloucestershire
The excellent sports’ facilities at the university,
combined with support from a spectrum of
disciplines within sport and higher education,
makes it a great choice for elite athletes and
sports performers who want to compete in
sport whilst furthering their education. The
university has strong links with the Students’
Union to provide all students with a wide range
of facilities and activities from health and fitness
to recreational (UNIversal Sport) and competitive
sport in the BUCS programme.
University Scholarship Scheme
The University Scholarship Scheme aims to
attract talented student athletes to study at the
university and offers support to balance university
life with achieving their sporting potential.
The comprehensive support package includes
scholarships for high performance athletes (up
to £500 to assist with tuition, accommodate
fees and competition expenses) and fitness suite
membership.
Centre for Sport
Located in the south west of England,
Cheltenham and Gloucester provide a perfect
location for training, with direct road and rail links
to London and the north of England. Several
venues within the City of Gloucester and the
region featured in the London 2012 pre-games
training camp guide, with the university also
hosting the Malawi Olympic team.
The university is actively involved with developing
many potential Olympic competitors and works
closely with major sports’ clubs, many of which
are based in Cheltenham and Gloucester. The
wide range of venues and support services
available to athletes mean that Gloucestershire
is an ideal centre for sports’ students, athletes,
sports’ organisations and associated disciplines.
