First impressions can dictate the direction of a conversation. The
outcome of a job interview, or a blind date. First impressions should set
the foundation of what you’re presenting to anyone you meet for the
first time. So, with that being said. Let me introduce you to FLAWZ.
For over a year, as long as I’ve been on Second Life, I’ve wanted to
create my own fashion magazine. Working at a fashion magazine as
long as I have, I’ve had time to learn, study, and craft my ideas of my
own high fashion, and urban magazine from scratch. FLAWZ is based
off of my idea that fashion isn’t perfect. And trust me, it isn’t. What the
world sees is the glitz and glamour. The fashion shows, the models, the
parties, the celebrities. What they don’t see are the imperfections that
make fashion, and us, ultimately who we are. I wanted to create a
magazine that evokes the very essence of high fashion. And the very
rawness that is urban, street wear. With Second Life giving us the opportunity
to create pieces from both worlds, I wanted to create a magazine
that gave creators a platform for showcasing their most creative
and stunning pieces of fashion on a magazine that will listen to the
creators, and honor their work, in a way NEVER done before with any
other SL magazine.
FLAWZ is going to bring fashion, creativity and art back to Second Life.
It will force creators to step outside of their comfort zone, and dare to
create more challenging pieces. FLAWZ will teleport you to places
you’ve never seen before, with creative, extravagant, daring, whimsical
and even controversial editorials. Pushing the boundaries when it
comes to showing off the latest from Second Life. Intricate interviews
with some of SL’s movers and shakers, creators, models, and influencers.
Detailed articles on the latest must haves of the SL fashion season.
The latest makeup and hair trends, including men’s style.
It’s taken some time to get to this point, but all of our hard work has
paid off. Thanks to my team, who without them, NONE and I do mean
none of this would be possible. Hard work and determination will lead
you to a dream that has come true for me. Welcome to FLAWZ. I hope
you’re ready.

In our launch issue we wanted to give you a taste of what we have to

called on to portray beauty for what it is, in all its different looks, ages,
ethnicities and genders, in its honest, inevitable imperfection and that's
what we aim to celebrate in this issue.

To be flawed. That has to mean something. Especially because
every single one of us carries a flaw or two. Now lets apply that to art
and fashion. Most of us know that perfection is unattainable, but I’d like
to think of true perfection as just the accumulation of perfect flaws.
Most of us have our own sense of style, and through that style we find
our own identity, our own sense of self and even sense of fame. That is
something truly powerful. What fashion means to me, is the freedom
and capacity to express yourself with the articles of clothing or materials
you choose to display on your body. I find that when you reach for
the stars and dabble in a bit of haute-couture, avantgarde and quite
simply, stray away from the conventional beauty, there is so much to
dissect that it becomes not only about fashion, but it becomes an artistic
and even spiritual experience of the highest level.
I’m not exactly sure when it was that I began having an eye and desire
to belong in fashion and the arts, but I know that pop-culture played
an everlasting role in that pursuit. I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing
iconic musicians with the wildest sense of stlye such as; Cher, David
Bowie, Grace Jones, Bjork and Lady Gaga, to name a few. To go hand
in hand with some of the most iconic fashion desginers to ever grace a
runway such as; Alexander Mcqueen, Thierry Mugler and Iris Van
Herpen. I know these people are a huge reason as to why fashion & art
mean so much to me and why I dare to go further when it comes to my
self-expression not only in Second Life but in my real-life when the opportunity
presents itself. Second Life is an extraordinary platform that
in the last 16 years has granted its users the possibility of creating anything
and everything from real-life, to original content never before
seen. We hope that as time progresses, Second Life in general will gain
a deeper appreciation for the strange, the bizarre, the weird and the
couture. To also understand that it is okay to be a freak when everyone
else around you is too gorgeous to dare show a flaw, or to vain to
reach past the limits of the box they’ve placed themselves in.
I think it is also important to be confident in one’s own unique style, and
to experiment with fashion & art for yourself first, before trying to be
someone else. Embracing your own flaws can be the start of you finding
a style that you can claim as your own, and once you have that, the
possibilities for your art & fashion to blossom as you see fit, are virtually
endless, so long as you have the drive for it.
I hope that when you read our issue and many issues to come, that you
experience the passion, sense of love & appreciation that we have
for all things flawed and out of the ordinary. This is FLAWZ.

summers mega-lens sunglasses, bigger is best. Gone are the days
of micro-lenses that swept the streets, now the dial has turned 180
degrees with larger than life shapes. Shades aren’t just huge, but

between a wrap-around surf style to a noughties sport aesthetic-championed.
You can’t go wrong.

SHOES
Birds of a feather flock together...when it comes to this season,
the abundance of fluff - from trims on cuffs, to all-over, took on a
new form of peacocking. None of that compared to the standout
feather shoe. Whether its on a sandal or a pump, it’s trending
across the board. As long as it looks like a bird, or has feathers
like one, it’s a win.

So if you’re still carrying around that oversized, archived, or the
“earth friendly” bag, good news, you don’t have to get rid of any
of them for this season. They all have a place in your everyday
wardrobe. From the bag that came from Mother Earth, the raffia
fringed totes, to your “I can fit everything but the kitchen sink” xxl
bag. The huge bag, the bag you carry to put your laptop in, a full
course meal, and possibly another full fit. And the classic “It” bag.
This is the bag you mortgage a house for. It’s vintage, pricey, and
goes with....everything.
When it comes to the MUST haves of the season....when it comes
to your head. Ladies and gents, look to the headband. For inspo,
look no further then Miuccia Prada’s SS19 collection. Studded
headband. Doesn’t matter if it’s pearls, diamonds, or gems. Make
sure it’s sparkles. The same goes for statement clips. If it says “Gucci”,
“dripping” or something of the sort, it’s a go! Hair clips are just
as important as the rest of your ensemble. It sets the mood for the
look. Gone are the days of the simple black hair pins. Now they
are dripping in crystals, pearls, and yes of course, diamonds. So
drip drip. With these trends, your summer wardrobe is set to go.

ARTIST: AUNTY MURDA
SERIES: RADICAL
Aunty Murda has been into Graphic Design
since she was nine. Her art has always
looked like something off-the-wall, radical,
taboo or something that the average
person would not be used to seeing. She
describes her art simply as how her mind
would be if it took physical and visual form.
She is here to make those who want to embrace
their inner-weird comfortable, while
simultaneously not trying to make those
againt oddballs, uncomfortable. She loves
what she does and it represents who she
truly is. The series you are about to see, will
illustrate just that.
