CookNancy’favorite mantra is “Beieve it and you
can achieve it,”one that held her in good stead as early
as six years old when she first learned to ski while growing up
in Jericho and Georgia, Vermont.This mantra continued
throughout her childhood and adult life, adding basketball and
field hockey to her repertoire in high school and college at
Castleton State, where she started running and competing in
triathlons. She started believing at a young age, and she will
not stop!Currently, Nancy has completed 4 Ironman distance
triathlons, went to the World Championships for the Half
Ironman and competed in 2 National USATF Championships
in the Olympic distance. Today, she is a ranked master cross
country, mountain, and marathon and ultra-runner, placing 7th
master at the Boston Marathon in 2007 with a 3:05:59 and
finished her 36th marathon and 12th Boston Marathon this
past October, where most of her training was completed on
her Concept2 indoor rowing machine. Currently, she holds the
American Record in her age group for the marathon on the
indoor rower with a 2:59:52.She continues to pursue her first
love –skiing –as a 22-year PSIA-certified, Level 3
Alpine Ski Instructor, ambassador for REVO sunglasses and
goggles, and a certified skateIA inline skating instructor. For
the past 25 years, she has taught at various resorts across the
U.S., including Keystone Colorado, Mt. Sunapee New
Hampshire, and Mount Snow and Stowe in Vermont. Her love
for skiing shows in her passion for teaching skiing to young
children and adults.She also loves her community and her
home in Western Massachusetts on 43 acres of woods and
her Labrador Retrievers, Maverick and Muzzy. She is a
lymphoma cancer survivor, diagnosed in July 2010
–passionate about sharing her strength and journey to
inspire children in their quest for health, fitness and selfconfidence.
