HENRY KORWALDimpetus to start with the art came,however, when I realized that I couldchannel things through it. I can'tmake art, I have to make art tosurvive!What artists or movements havehad an impact on you?I would not say for all but most of themovements have their special thingwhich inspired me. Maybe that's whyI work interdisciplinary. But if I haveto name some I would say:Impressionism, expressionism, thenew objectivity and abstract art.What themes does your workinvolve?It's all about feelings that touch me insome way in life. Sometimes verydirect and sometimes I realize only inthe middle of a series about whichfeeling it is or which feelingsI process. From these feelings arise,the themes with which my workOld woman with headscarf, 2022, woodcutEvery work must hold a specialstory. A story that is mostlyknown only to medeals. It can be in the whole rangeof feelings and themes, but mostlythere is a touch of melancholy in it.At the moment I am dealing withillness and mortality. For example:This work is called "coffin corner"which describes usually a status of aflying aircraft in which it can't gofaster because it will loose boost andalso can't go higher. In both ways, itwill crash down. This work refers tosuch a condition of a human being. Itshows the inability to do anything.What is important to you about thevisual experiences you create?Every work must hold a special story.A story that is mostly known only tome. Just doing anything has beenpointless in my eyes. So if there is nostory then I don't do it.What is the significance of mediumand color?There is no significance at all.
