Rising Star
Housing Facilities for Actors
Film City - Goregaon, Mumbai
Rising Star is a co-living facility created for
struggling actors who are new to the city. This
facility provides them space to reside as well as
amenities which help them grow as an actor. There
are auditioning theatres, discussion rooms and
common amphitheatre spaces for the actors to
work together. The living facilities are divided into
two parts - dorms and sharing rooms. The location
of the design is in filmcity. Goregaon alongside a
basti of locals and a school. The form derived
follows a certain module which is repeated to
create smaller pathways. The pathways are
connected and expanding in nature looking
towards the common courtyards. Different types
of roofs are used to create skylights in living
quarters and spot lights in audition theatres.
The idea to create a design and developing it from the forms that
follows the functions is the key requirements for this particular
space and user.
The design aspects depend on the surroundings and
which particular user will be interested in being in these
spaces. Thus, the functions come up with the users
according to different situations in different time and
also considering the zoning of spaces. Considering the
identity in place the site should not merge with the
design instead it needs to stand out as an individual
design.
The form follows function;
The shape of a building or object should primarily relate
to its intended function or purpose.
Surly the form brings upon the nature of the design and
my narrative mainly focuses on the centrality of the
structure.
The main source is the connectivity between these forms
which brings upon the final outcome of the design.

Consulado Geral De Portugal

Fontainhas, Goa
The design is of the portugal consulate in goa. It holds various functions for the local public, the offices
and facilities for the staff working. This design of consulate is inspired by the portuguese culture which
contains a variety of music and dance forms .The portuguese embassy here is a symbol of unity as the
form appears to be a whole unified mass with voids to create a interesting form. The rhythm that
people of portuguese experience while in their culture is something i wanted to incorporate in my
form.These functions are laid out in the form of a grid format which is formed according to site
conditions and the climatic factors. The grid is placed in a way that it creates several offsets and these
offsets make exterior pockets of different scale and size
Narrative in form of Architectural Journalism
Architectural journalism stemmed from the need of bringing architecture to the common man, unlike a medical
term. Earlier, the term ‘architecture’ was a term relatively used by the architect, contractor, and client and
anybody who is not involved would shrug it off as something relevant. This narrative will help us familiarise the
concept of architecture, the role of good architects and how they impact our day to day lives. For an architect to
implement this narrative, the structure should stand out at the same time making an impact on the surroundings.
The security and privacy should be experienced by the user. Bringing a centrality to the structure from an overall
view. Mainly focusing on the circulation and function which can be brought to an experience through form.

(Selected Movie)
Locked in home for several months with the least
possibility of mingling with real people and real sites,
we were looking at experiences through movies.
Lately life is interacting with us through screens
mostly, so this is a natural extension of that.
Movie is narrative, narrative unfolds in certain spaces
or spaces. So for a while those spaces are real.
They provide the context. This is where AD studio
attaches itself in the movie. This is where we go to
find our context, our site.
In spite of the narrative , the chosen movies/stories
concern human life. Hence, we consider universal
and timeless human needs as programmatic
interventions in a given space of the
narrative. These can be nursery school, Garage for
vehicles or Pen for Animals, Eating Space for group
of people etc.
Using existing structures, refurbishing, making it
sustainable and making use for survival.

The following set of drawings are a part of the documentation done of David Sassoon
Clocktower in Veermata Jijabai Udyan in Byculla by the students of Academy Of Architecture
Unaided batch of 2024. The tower was measured by the students and drawings were hand
drafted and inked with Rotring pens. These are some of the drawings of the 75 feet high tower.
