Let’s start with the obvious - the looks of the Honda CR-V. By now, with just a glance of

our featured photos of it, you’ve probably already decided if you like the Honda CR-V or

not. From our perspective, we think it’s one of the more attractive family cars on our roads

today - sure, it isn’t as unique as a, let’s say, Toyota C-HR, but the smooth lines throughout

the exterior certainly make it a stand out an an overcrowded field of family cars.

THE INTERIOR AND COMFORT

If you’re looking for a family car that has plenty of space throughout, then look no further.

With ample space for your passengers, and a very decent sized boot, getting ready for

those family holidays will be a breeze for all. In terms of comfort, we’re happy to report

that even when testing on long journeys, we remained comfortable throughout. Whole

the interior design won’t win any awards for innovation, you’ll find it hard to find another

car on the road with this amount of available space throughout.

THE DRIVER EXPERIENCE

In terms of driver experience, we had no major complaints here. For your comfort, like

most cars out there nowadays, you can adjust the driver’s seat, steering wheel, and the

backrest, too.

Thanks to the windscreen pillars being thinner than many alternatives, the visibility is

great throughout on the Honda CR-V - which is great news as this is a biggish car and

makes parking that little bit more hassle-free. Most trims of the Honda CR-V come with

front and rear parking sensors, too.

As far as the suspension is concerned, it soaks up speed humps and potholes effortlessly.

Whether you’re city driving, motorway driving, or country lane driving, the Honda CR-V

will treat your derrière with respect.

THE CONTROLS AND THE TECH

It’s not uncommon for a car’s control layout to feel clunky and overbearing at times, but

we’re happy to report that the Honda CR-V doesn’t suffer from this setback. The simple

layout lets you control pretty much everything at just a glance, making your journeys

that bit more safer.

Let’s take a look at the on-board infotainment system. While the infotainment system

isn’t something to shout about, it does have all the essentials you’d expect. You’d be

pleased to know that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard, allowing you

to connect your phone to the car and stay connected as you go.

SAFETY FIRST

If safety comes first with you (and why wouldn’t it?), you’ll be pleased to hear that the

car safety experts over at Euro NCAP awarded the CR-V a five star rating - meaning, if the

unfortunate should happen, you have the best protection for the whole family, no matter

where they’re sitting in the car. As an added bonus, as standard, you’ll also be getting

lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, traffic sign

recognition and an emergency call system.

MERCEDES-MAYBACH EQS SUV

A LOOK INSIDE

Mercedes have always delivered on luxury, and the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV is no

different - in fact, it takes that luxury tag and hits it into the stratosphere. From its open

pore walnut trim to its diamond-stitched leather, everything about the Mercedes-Maybach

EQS SUV feels expensive. This is the kind of car that comes with quilted footstool, luxury

cushions, and padded headrests. As standard, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV will come

with five seats, and this pictured option, the ‘first class’ option, comes with two thrown

like seats in the back that’s separated by an expensive sideboard between them. In short,

we don’t think there’s another car on the road quite like this one. It has been described as

ostentatious, but to be honest, we don’t see that as a problem.

THE KEY FACTS

Right, enough about the looks (for now), this is the first all-electric model from Mercedes-

Maybach and ushers in a new era for the ultra-premium sub-brand. Key specs include a

659bhp, 701lb ft twin-motor powertrain (up 123bhp, 68lb ft on the current top-wrung

EQS 580 4Matic) and 373-mile range (down 5 miles from the same 108.4kWh battery).

4Matic four-wheel-drive as standard.

THE PRICE

As this is an early preview, the prices haven’t been officially announced as of yet, but

comparing it to the likes of the EQS SUV 580, which costs £152,635, it may be a fair guess

to expect the Maybach to be priced at over the £200,000 mark. It’s not cheap by any

means, but if you’re looking at cars in this price range, then we suggest you take this one

into serious consideration.

BACK TO THE HEAD TURNING PART

The looks, both interior and exterior, seem to be more in keeping with those you’d find

from Bentley and Rolls-Royce. It’s clear to see that the evolution of the Maybach Concept

EQS, first previewed at the Munich motor show in 2021, has taken Mercedes into a bit of a

different direction. At LMC, we think that’s a great thing, it allows motorists more choice,

and builds more competition in the industry.

TECH... AND ‘GOBLETS’

Building on what made the EQS 580 so great, the Maybach will include, among a huge

list of other things, the new MBUX Hyperscreen, Burmester 4D surround sound system,

and the signature Maybach chrome touches on the dash and doors. Elsewhere, the rear

passangers get 11.6-inch displays on the backrests of the front seats, a wood trimmed

seat divider, a built-in fridge, massage functions on the seats, neck and shoulder heating,

and silver-plated goblets - yes, you heard that right, silver-plated goblets.
