Dear Welshpool,
The Welshpool Country Music Festival is only
weeks away. We now need to recruit volunteers to
help make the festival another success. Can you
spare a few hours, a day, a weekend ? Could you
spare some time to help organise some essential
elements of the show ? We need team leaders and
day volunteers to help the show raise money to
keep the Heulwen Trust boats running free trips
along the Montgomery Canal for those less able.
Since the mid 80’s The Heulwen Trust has been
running day trips up and down The Montgomery
Canal. Our narrow boats are specially adapted to
assist wheel chair users on and off the boats and
on board we have easy access toilets and changing
facilities along with simple catering services. Our
annual running cost are met by the income from
the annual Welshpool Country Music Festival. We
provide daily trips entirely free as a result of a
successful annual show. By offering to volunteer
some of your over the week it takes to assemble &
dismantle the show, you will be helping us to
send another boat along the Monty and help put
some smiles on the faces of those less able as well
as the careers and family members who support
them.
Please email
if you can spare a few hours or a day or a
weekend or more.
DRINKS: GIN IS IN
Gin is an extremely popular
alcoholic beverage. This
flavoured white spirit utilises
barley, corn or rye in its
distillation and dates from the
Middle Ages. The base flavour
comes from juniper berries.
Different styles of gin are
available today. Gin cocktails
are a regular choice, for
numerous ‘devotees’ and the
world-renowned ‘Gin & Tonic’ is
always a favourite, with many.
Highclere Castle is located approx 5
miles south of Newbury, Hampshire
and is home to the 8th Earl and
Countess of Carnarvon. Highclere
Castle and the Estate have been
used, both internally and externally,
for a good number of films and TV
productions and known around the
world as the fictional setting for the
hugely popular production of
Downton Abbey. The Estate is very
impressive indeed. The Carnarvon
Highclere Castle Gin (Alc. 43.5%
Vol.) is multi award-winning having
garnered over 50 spirit awards since
their launch in 2019.The gin is
produced from one of the oldest
copper gin stills, dating back to the
19th century, in England’s oldest gin
distillery. Very carefully, botanicals,
grown on the Highclere Estate, were
selected and then after two years of
experimenting, finally the selections
were chosen for the recipe. The
botanicals include essential oils and
give Highclere Castle Gin its
outstanding, unique, smooth and
elegant flavour. Citrus forward with
juniper, lavender, coriander, lime
flower, citrus peels, angelica root,
cassia bark, green cardamom,
liquorice root and peppercorns, plus
Highclere oats are all included to
produce the exquisite production
that is Highclere Castle Gin.
On its own, with ice, Gin & Tonic,
Classic Martini, Negroni, White
Lady, or whatever a favourite choice
is, I found this gin most certainly
did not disappoint – the prestigious
awards that keep coming, are
testament to that!
Covid-19 hit everyone hard and we were so
fortunate to be able to trade through it and to
welcome more customers; we started to deliver
locally to those who were unable to get to us and
had a hugely positive response not only to the
quality of our meat compared to that of the
supermarket, but also to the idea of more
localised shopping - 'the way Mum & Nan used to
shop' became a frequent saying!
This is us, Jason & Diane Bradley, the faces
behind the name and although behind the
scenes much of the time, we’re always
working hard to ensure that your experience
of our shop leaves you eager to return.
After running Beamans in LowTown Bridgnorth for
over 20 years, we had often talked about
opening another shop and the opportunity to
make Shrewsbury our base came in 2018
when the property on London Road
became vacant. It was a huge
project to kit out such a vast space
and we took time to make sure it
was just what we wanted.
We were able to open our doors in
March 2019 and set about reintroducing
local shopping to the
community. Open from 8am til 5pm
Monday - Saturday, we wanted to make
sure that we'd be accessible to everyone
including those who enjoy shopping locally either
on their way to or from work rather than having to
always visit a supermarket.
The business expanded in May 2022 when we
opened our coffee lounge on the mezzanine
level of the shop. Open 9am til 3pm
Tuesday to Saturday, the coffee
lounge has proven to be a real asset
to the local community with it’s
Espresso machine and relaxed
friendly vibe, we’re also dogfriendly
in this area of the shop
which you and your 4-legged
friends can access via the car park
as opposed to through the shop
itself.
We’ve got such a great team here who are
passionate about delivering not only first- class
produce, but also first-class service. We offer a
traditional meat counter, a very busy takeaway
counter serving hot and cold sandwiches and are
proud suppliers to a number of pubs, restaurants
and care homes, we also make our own pies,
sausages, burgers, scotch eggs and ready-meals
here on site so you can be assured of our quality.
We look forward to serving you in the future and
thank you for your continued support.
One of our greatest passions is supporting local
and the shop now showcases some of
Shropshire's finest suppliers and we're always on
the lookout for more.

Health & Diet
Enjoying Food Again: 10 Top
Tips for Coping with Food
Intolerances.
Living with food intolerances can
be challenging, especially when
you see so many others enjoying
the foods you used to crave. But
with the right strategies and
mindset, it's possible to navigate
daily life with greater ease and
enjoyment.
Have a read of our top tips to help make living
with food intolerances more manageable and
fulfilling.
Know Your Triggers
The first step in managing food intolerances is to
identify which foods or ingredients trigger your
symptoms.
Keep a food diary to track what you eat and any
symptoms that arise afterward. This can help pinpoint
patterns and identify potential triggers far more
accurately.
Read Labels Carefully
Learn to read food labels thoroughly to identify any
potential allergens or intolerances they may contain.
Look for common trigger ingredients such as gluten,
dairy, soy, nuts, and artificial additives. Be aware that
some ingredients may have different names or be hidden
in processed foods, so being vigilant really is key.
Cook New Meals at Home
Cooking your meals from scratch gives you full control
over the ingredients and allows you to avoid potential
triggers more easily than in a restaurant.
Experiment with new recipes and ingredients to keep
your meals exciting and varied rather than settling for
the same few. While it can take some time and effort to
get comfortable with what you can and can’t eat, it
doesn’t have to make meal times dull.
Once you’re certain of the foods you can’t eat, focus on
what you can and how to incorporate different items and
flavours into your meals to keep things exciting and
delicious.
Plan Ahead
When dining out or attending social gatherings, plan
ahead by researching restaurant menus or contacting
the host to discuss your dietary restrictions.
Bringing your dish to share at social gatherings ensures
that you'll have safe options available and can enjoy
your meal without worrying about potential triggers.
Focus on Whole Foods
Be sure to incorporate plenty of whole, unprocessed
foods into your diet, such as fruits, vegetables, lean
proteins, and whole grains.
These foods are naturally free from common trigger
ingredients and provide essential nutrients to support
your overall health.
Consider Substitutions
Explore alternative ingredients and substitutions to
replace trigger foods in your favourite recipes. For
example, use almond milk or coconut milk instead of
dairy milk, or gluten-free flour blends instead of wheat
flour.
Many specialty stores and online retailers offer a wide
range of allergy-friendly products to choose from that
mean you don’t have to miss out on what you love
entirely.
Communicate Effectively
Be open and honest with friends, family, and co-workers
about your food intolerances to stop any issues arising
down the line.
Educate them about your dietary restrictions and how
they can support you, whether it's by choosing
restaurants with suitable options or accommodating
your needs when hosting events.
Stay Positive
Living with food intolerances can be frustrating at times
but maintaining a positive attitude really can make a
world of difference.
Focus on the foods you can enjoy rather than fixating on
those you need to avoid. Seek out support from others
who understand what you're going through and
celebrate your victories, no matter how small.
Practice Self-Care
Prioritise self-care activities such as regular exercise,
adequate sleep, and stress management to support your
overall well-being.
Stress can exacerbate symptoms of food intolerances, so
finding healthy ways to relax and unwind is crucial when
you’re living with intolerances.
Consult a Healthcare Professional
If you're struggling to manage your food intolerances on
your own, don't hesitate to seek guidance from a
healthcare professional.
A registered dietitian or nutritionist can help develop a
personalised eating plan tailored to your specific needs
and preferences and save you a bucket load of stress.
Health & Fitness
Unlocking Your Fitness
Potential: 5 Exercise Tips
for Fitness Success.
Embarking on a fitness journey
can be both exciting and
daunting. Whether you're a
seasoned gym-goer or just
starting out, having the right
knowledge and guidance can
make all the difference in
achieving your fitness goals.
essential part of progress, it's equally important to listen
to your body and respect its limits.
Pay attention to signals of fatigue, discomfort, or pain
during your workouts and adjust accordingly. Pushing
through pain can lead to injury and setbacks, so know
when to dial back the intensity or take a rest day to
allow your body to recover.
Remember that rest and recovery are just as crucial to
your fitness journey as the actual exercise itself, so
prioritise adequate sleep, hydration, and nutrition to
support your body's needs.
Incorporate Strength Training
Strength training is a cornerstone of any effective
exercise program, yet it's often overlooked in favour of
cardiovascular activities.
However, building lean muscle not only improves your
strength, balance, and posture but also boosts your
metabolism and promotes fat loss. Incorporate
compound exercises such as squats, lunges, push-ups,
and rows into your routine to target multiple muscle
groups and maximise efficiency.
Aim to progressively overload your muscles by gradually
increasing the weight or resistance over time to
stimulate both growth and adaptation.
Mix Up Your Workouts
Repeating the same workout routine day after day not
only leads to boredom but also plateaus in progress as
your body adapts to the activity.
Have a read of our 5 exercise tips to help you
maximise your workouts and unlock your full
potential when it comes to fitness.
Prioritise Proper Form
One of the most common mistakes people make when
exercising is sacrificing form for the sake of lifting
heavier weights or completing more repetitions.
However, poor form not only increases the risk of injury
but also diminishes the effectiveness of the exercise
you’re doing. Prioritise proper form above all else, even
if it means using lighter weights or performing fewer
reps.
Focus on engaging the correct muscles, maintaining
alignment, and executing each movement with both
control and precision. Not only will this help to prevent
injury, but it will also ensure that you're targeting the
intended muscle groups for maximum results.
Listen to Your Body
While pushing yourself out of your comfort zone is an
Keep your workouts fresh and exciting by incorporating
variety into your routine. Try different exercises,
equipment, and workout formats to challenge your body
in new ways and prevent stagnation.
Whether it's switching up your cardio routine, trying a
new class, or exploring outdoor activities, mixing up
your workouts not only keeps things interesting but also
ensures that you're continually challenging your body
and making progress towards your fitness goals.
Set SMART Goals
Setting specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and
time-bound (SMART) goals is essential for success in
any fitness endeavour. Rather than vague aspirations
like "get fit" or "lose weight," set concrete goals that are
tailored to your individual needs and aspirations.
Whether it's running a certain distance, lifting a specific
weight, or achieving a certain body fat percentage, break
your goals down into smaller, actionable steps and track
your progress along the way.
Celebrate your achievements and use setbacks as
opportunities for growth and learning, staying focused
on the bigger picture of improving your health and
wellbeing.
became the fastest selling single in the UK before releasing many
other popular hits including Leave Right Now and Your Game.
Now appearing at Shrewsbury’s theatre, the event promises to be an
soulful touch!"
Telford Medical Practice to become
accommodation for the homeless
The University is due to leave the campus by the autumn with the
Guildhall expected to be re-opened as potential office accommodation
as it negotiates its own exit from the Shirehall building across town.
The future of the University Centre Shrewsbury is yet to be
announced although Shropshire Council has said it will continue to
work with the University to find alternative accommodation.
A University of Chester spokesperson said “we are committed to
ensuring that all our current students at UCS will be supported to
complete their qualifications
and are looking at the best
ways for this to happen at
other locations, preferably in
Shropshire, and using
alternative delivery modes.”
"We are also discussing how
we might use existing
specialist facilities to deliver
these courses. A range of
options is under review and
we will be sure to keep
students regularly updated.”
Bridgnorth Mayor thanks primary pupils for
their town artwork
The Mayor of Bridgnorth has thanked pupils from four primary
schools at a celebration in the town hall after the children created four
banners due to be hung in France.
The artwork was created by pupils from St Leonards Primary School,
Bridgnorth Endowed School, Highley Primary School, and
Castlefields Primary School as part of a project for the Bridgnorth &
District Twinning Association.
The banners are now due to be taken and displayed in Thiers, France
from June to October.
Valerie Seabright, Vice Chair of the Bridgnorth & District Twinning
Association said, “this summer a group of Bridgnorth members and
supporters will be in Thiers at their festival supporting our twinning
link alongside our twinning friends from Schrobenhausen, Germany.”
A former GP practice in Telford is now set to become accommodation
for the homeless after Telford and Wrekin Council approved plans for
the Aqueduct Surgery to be converted into five self-contained flats.
The flats are due to be taken over by Maninplace, the homelessness
charity and it aims to use the rooms as a stepping stone for people to
be integrated back into society.
The charity will be responsible for whom resides in the flats and plans
to visit the accommodation frequently once opened and utilised.
Historic
Bayley Mile
takes new
twist
The Bayley Mile is a traditional road race for
pupils of Wellington schools which started
in the 1930s and was revived 27 years ago.
This year the town’s businesses have been
invited to compete on May 8 and there has
been an enthusiastic response with 10
businesses in the line-up.
“We have opened the event up to the
Wellington retailers for a bit of healthy
competition and we are really pleased so
many are going to take part – a reflection of
the great community spirit in Wellington,”
said Caroline Mulvihill of the town council.
All local schools have been invited and it’s
expected that about 120 runners will
complete the course around the town.
The pupils’ race will start at 1pm and the
open race for businesses will start at
2.45pm.
New initiative to help enhance
town
A new guide to help the town's businesses
to make the most of their shop fronts has
been published by Wellington’s
Regeneration Partnership. The document is
a collaboration between Rob Francis of arts
and heritage group Wellington H2A and
Telford & Wrekin Council conservation and
planning officers.
“Much of Wellington town centre is a
conservation area so we want to help
preserve its history and continue to make it
appealing to residents and visitors,”
explained Rob, who wrote a town centre
vision for Wellington Town Council a decade
ago.
“The guide aims to give business owners
practical advice and guidance about colour
schemes and signage that not only
enhances individual properties but also the
town overall.”
Stray Horns at Midsummer Fayre
Wellington Midsummer Fayre will light up
the town on Saturday 8 June. This everpopular
event already has the Conwy Jester
and the Wellington Brass Band confirmed
with, new for this year’s festivities, the Stray
Horns - who promise a lively atmosphere
with their roaming music. The fun starts
from 10am to 3pm, with stalls dotting the
churchyard, and performers scattered
around All Saints and Market Square. A
costumed procession at 1pm will add to the
pageantry.
In the evening there will be a Ceilidh at the
Belmont Hall where visitors from
Wellington’s twin town of Châtenay-Malabry
will get a taste of Wellington hospitality. The
Wellington Midsummer Fayre is always a day
of fun, music, and community spirit and
summer tradition.
Health
I THINK I NEED A
HEARING AID…
It can take people a while to admit they
need a hearing aid so reaching out is a
huge step.
Chances are, you're here because:
n You’ve become part of the “Ay?” team
n People seem to mumble a lot
n You crank up the volume or use subtitles
...on TV
n You’re relying on lip-reading
n You have a ringing or buzzing (tinnitus) with
...your hearing loss
completely invisible.
n Connectivity – many modern hearing
devices have direct connectivity to your
phone, tv or tablet. This allows you to make
phone calls or listen to your favourite music
or tv programs directly through your hearing
aids and so much clearer!
n Apps – most hearing aids now have a free
app to download to your smartphone. You
can control volume, tone and even
background noise at the touch of a button.
Your lifestyle and listening needs are unique
to you. A tailored, individualised approach to
hearing health care is crucial to achieving
your hearing goals. That’s exactly what we
provide at Hear In.
Clients often say, ‘I’m coping fine, I hear what
I need to hear’. Their hearing may feel dull or
muffled and assume it’s just wax when in fact
their ears are perfectly clear. If ‘things are
loud enough but not clear’ it’s a sign that it’s
time to have your hearing tested. With
hearing aids things become clear, the ‘fog’ is
lifted! Don’t settle for coping, enjoy the
fullness of life.
So, who do you turn to and trust - NHS or
private?
We are lucky to have a NHS hearing aid
service in the UK. Why choose to go
privately for your hearing healthcare? The
biggest difference between the NHS and
private sector is choice. NHS are often
limited to 2-3 hearing aids using technology
up to 4 years old.
As an independent hearing care service, we
can choose from 80 - 120 hearing aids using
the latest technology from leading
manufacturers.
n Style – there are 3 main styles of hearing
aids: discrete behind the ear (available in a
choice of colours), custom made and
During your hearing consultation, our expert
audiologists will look at your listening needs
and test results and ask about your personal
and lifestyle needs. Our excellent aftercare
service ensures that we are with you every
step of the way to get the very best from
your new hearing aids.
If you would like to find out how we can
help with your hearing issues, please call us
Hair & Beauty
Embrace Your Natural
Glow: Beauty Tips for Men
and Women as Summer
Arrives
As the weather warms up and the
summer arrives, it's time to refresh
our beauty routines and embrace the
radiant energy of the season.
Whether you identify as male or
female, taking care of your skin and
overall appearance is essential to feel
confident and vibrant as you step out
into the world. Have a read of some
rejuvenating beauty tips tailored for
both men and women to help you
shine this season
of skin tone.
Choose a product with an SPF of at least 30 and
remember to reapply every two hours, especially if
you're sweating or swimming. Don't forget to protect
often overlooked areas like your ears, neck, and the tops
of your feet to avoid any burning.
Freshen Up Your Skincare Routine
Now is the perfect time to reassess your skincare routine
and make any necessary adjustments to suit the weather.
Swap out heavy creams and cleansers for lighter
formulas that won't weigh down your skin. Consider
adding products with Vitamin C or niacinamide to your
regime to brighten your complexion and even out skin
tone.
Exfoliation is also key to removing any of those dead
skin cells and revealing a fresher and more radiant
complexion.
Embrace Minimal Makeup
For those of us who enjoy wearing makeup, now is the
time to embrace a more natural look.
Choose lightweight, breathable formulas like tinted
moisturisers or BB creams instead of heavy foundations
and focus on enhancing your features with subtle
touches —either a swipe of mascara to define your lashes
or a sheer lip tint for a hint of colour.
Groomed Brows and Lashes
Well-groomed brows and lashes can make a world of
difference in framing your face and drawing attention to
your eyes.
For men and women alike, consider getting your brows
professionally shaped to compliment your facial
features. Use a clear brow gel to keep any stray hairs in
place throughout the day and invest in a quality mascara
or eyelash serum to lengthen and volumise your lashes
for a gorgeous wide-eyed appearance.
Hair Care Essentials
As the weather warms up, your hair may also need some
extra TLC to combat any humidity and frizz.
Hydration is Key
As the temperature rises, so does the need to stay
hydrated. This applies not only to drinking water but
also to keeping your skin moisturised.
Opt for lightweight, hydrating moisturisers that won't
feel heavy on your skin. Look for products with
ingredients like hyaluronic acid or glycerine which help
to lock in moisture without clogging up your pores.
Keeping your skin hydrated will help to maintain its
elasticity and give you a natural, healthy glow.
Sun Protection for Everyone
With more time spent outdoors, sun protection is nonnegotiable.
Both men and women should incorporate a broadspectrum
sun cream into their daily routine, regardless
Men and women can benefit from using lightweight
styling products like mousses or serums to tame unruly
hair without weighing it down.
Consider scheduling a trim to get rid of any split ends
and refresh your hairstyle for the new season.
Healthy Habits for Inner Glow
Finally, remember that true beauty really does start
from within. Prioritise self-care practices such as getting
enough sleep, eating a balanced diet rich in fruits and
vegetables, and staying physically active.
Practicing mindfulness techniques like meditation or
yoga can also help reduce stress levels and promote
overall well-being which will ultimately reflect in your
outer appearance.
The Archetypes of the Witch….
To be truly powerful in our magic we need to embrace
all parts of ourselves, all emotions, cycles, states and
elements, labelling nothing as wrong. Being open to
grow and evolve, to face the darker parts we shy
away from – a repressed witch can create total havoc
in her own life without realising she is doing it. In
order to avoid that havoc we have to get comfortable
with the uncomfortable and explore our unconscious
parts.
If we know and embrace, and more importantly
recognise the Archetypes of the witch and work with
them instead of denying or burying them then we can
become truly Powerful forces that can change our
own lives and the future of the world!
Archetypes of the Witch
The Force of Nature – she who cannot
be controlled
Cyclical being – with ebbs and flows, she connects
with the moon, with the cycles of nature, the wheel of
the year and the seasons. She knows death and
rebirth. She knows her own body and she knows the
power of mother earth. The mother who stands up for
her kids against an injust system, the powerful
lioness that resides inside of you… the wild woman..
the forerunner!
The witch represents the part of each of us that has
been censored, ignored, punished and demonised!!
It is the woman in her power, the woman who uses
her voice, the woman who stands up for what is right,
the woman who knows herself!
The Creatrix – She who dreams,
manifests and makes magic!
She is the caregiver to the world, the sensitive who
connects with nature, the healer, the mentor, the
mystic. She knows there is more to life than what we
can see.. she feels it all!!! She is intuitive and raw.
Women by nature are witches because we are a
force of nature, we shed and bleed, we blossom and
birth, we are cyclical like the moon and the seasons.
You don’t have to do anything to be a witch
You don’t have to practice magic or healing to be a
witch..
its not something you do.. its more who you are…
underneath what you were told to be!!!
Sometimes we hide all this… often we do! Because
in our bones we carry the stories of the women who
were persecuted, burned, drowned, tortured, and
silenced because of their power.
So to identify as a witch is to reclaim all this power!
To connect with that ancient part of yourself!
There are many aspects to the Witch, many
archetypes we embody.
The creator of life… our womb space is a powerful
portal… we can be the creator of joy, health,
harmony, abundance… women are constantly
creating and making something from nothing – that is
one of our most powerful gifts… creating a home out
of a house, creating a meal for our family out of
ingredients, creating magic in our way. The kitchen

witch who makes soothing lotions…
We are always creating – every word we speak is a
spell (that’s why they call it spelling).. casting spells,
manifesting, affirmations – these are all our creative
powers to change our reality.
The Oracle – She who trusts her intuition
and see’s all things….
Your intuition (your
‘clairs’ - clairvoyant,
clairsentient etc) are
your superpower!!!
As a woman you
are naturally
intuitive.. as a witch
you learn how to
harness that skill. To
trust yourself!!! And
your own your
knowing! Your own
magic!
The oracle is the
Seer, the psychic…
she
gives wise counsel
and guides others.
She learns to work
with and increase
her intuition… she
listens to her inner knowledge and learns to trust it
.
The Healer – She who heals herself and
the world…
Since the beginning of time women healers honoured
and observed the
sacred cycles of
nature, time and
spirit. They served
their communities
through midwifery,
spiritual guidance,
hands on healing,
herbal medicine,
death doula-ing…
they brought healing
through their hands,
their voices, their
movements. They
healed themselves
and their
communities with
song and dance, fire and water, ritual and magic.
There is a deep wound connected with the healer
element of the witch… as we all experienced a healer
holocaust during the witch hunts. So we often bury this
part of ourselves… but healing others is who we are
and the most natural thing for us to do.
The Sorceress –
She who is Charmed,
Dangerous and not
afraid of the Dark
The shadow worker who
owns the underworld and
all the dark messy emotions
and transmutes them into
something good, something
powerful.. the woman who
creates magic from the
apparent darkness.
The Sorceress is the most
feared archetype of all. The
power of the Sorceress lies between her thighs. In her
womb, her vagina.. her sex! She is the alchemist! She
has the power to change situations! She is the good
and the bad! The dark and the light! She is SOURCE
energy! That’s what sorceress means ‘you are source
and you have the power to manipulate that energy. This
is often the part of ourselves we hide because its not
acceptable to society. We should be a ‘good’ girl.
The Sorceress feels and expresses it all, she is brave,
bold and powerful!
Well-being...
Longer lighter days are upon us!
After what has felt like the longest
winter & wettest start to Spring,
it’s now the sunlight starts to
breakthrough & our ‘feel good
factor’ gets ignited once
again!
Focusing on what we will do this
Summer really gets underway as
we look forward to the longer
days of sun & warmth ahead.
Holidays are on the horizon as we
make plans for activities when we
can take a break from work &
enjoy life outdoors packed with
adventures & new places to
explore
Make a Well-Being Action
Plan
In terms of well-being it’s another
seasonal shift for our bodies. It’s
this shift that we start to think
about how we look on the ‘outside’
especially in those little sumner
dresses & also the gorgeous
colourful new bikini we’ve bought
for those beach days! If we’ve
done Winter & Spring right &
been in an intuitive stride with
taking care of ourselves
then we might know how to get on
track to feeling healthy from the
‘inside out’
If you are not feeling this, it’s OK
there is still time & making a
wellbeing action plan will
certainly help
So what could you put in your
plan? Here’s 3 top tips that could
help you to get into optimum
wellness & tune into the Solstice
vibes heading your way!
Start Your Day Well
It’s well documented how you
awaken & start your day sets the
tone for both your physical &
mental wellbeing. With more sun
& brighter days we often awaken
earlier & can put this time to good
use! A meditation in a quiet spot
of the garden, some yoga sun
salutations to welcome the
sun, a mindful walk to witness
Mother Nature at its best & some
gratitude journaling for a great
day ahead are all an excellent way
to start your day
Weekly Well-being Check Up
Check in with how you are feeling,
thinking & showing up for
yourself & others. Ask yourself if
you are nurturing yourself as you
need to. As the days get longer we
often pack more things in &
spring into ‘doing’ mode. It’s here
we need to ensure we don’t miss
the great opportunity of
‘being’ fully present & in the
moment. Summer will be beautiful
if we allow ourselves to get into
this pattern! Think ‘less is more’ &
you will actually achieve more!
Give Yourself Time
Journal a list of what’s important
to YOUR wellbeing 1st &
make this non-negotiable to fill
your own cup first. It’s a bit
of a cliche but very true that you
cannot pour from an empty
cup! Fill up your own well-being
cup & watch that flow out to
others! How about factoring some
specific “Me Time” such
as having a holistic therapy
treatment, learning some new
things by attending courses like
Reiki or other self healing
modalities or book yourself into a
day or overnight retreat to
fully immerse in a reset of mind,
body & spirit. These are a great
way to reset with some great ones
run locally.
Check out the ones with Meridian
Life as local fabulous venues such
as Ellerton Hall are used & they
are a great hybrid of relaxation &
Visualisation of the fat cells shrinking
WHAT IS THE EMERALD LASER EXPERIENCE ?
The EMERALD LASER is a non-invasive and non thermal
fat loss laser that works in tune with your body. It is the
only technology in the world that has been given US FDA
market clearance for overall body circumference
reduction in patients +30 BMI.
The laser works as a natural alternative for fat loss by
using non-thermal low-level lasers to create a temporary
pore in the fat cells, allowing the fatty liquids to seep out
of the cell and be naturally flushed out through your
lymphatic system.
We carry out a full medical assessment before starting
your treatment, so if you are not a suitable candidate, we
will find out before your programme begins.
WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED
Men’s Health
Men’s Mental Health
by Dribbz...
Yes Scene & SYone readers! I truly
hope everyone is doing the best they
can possibly be right now but if your
not, then please remember there are
many others in this world who may
feel similar to the way you do. Be kind
to yourself and keep in mind that the
rain won't stay forever and there will
always be a brighter day.
So another edition brings you another
feature, and this time its from a
fantastic local DJ, Producer and good
friend of mine James Lock aka Bass
Phaze.
depression, followed by hyper activeness, sleeping
minimally (probably 3-4 hours a night) and my brain
just never switching off!! Times when boredom would
set in very quickly and I would have to find a way to
satisfy it and effectively try to get that dopamine “hit”
from something. Thankfully I can say I avoided drugs,
alcohol didn’t really help it just made me feel much
worse!!
Knowing what I know now I recognised these symptoms
as either “ADHD” or “Bipolar Disorder” I knew my Mum
had struggled with these too and I have memories of
coming home from School and not knowing what
personality my Mum would be that evening. As a child it
did scare me, but then I got used to it as I got older and
it became normal life. I was determined not to let it
affect me as it had her. In the 1980’s when I grew up,
Mental Health wasn’t really a recognised issue so she
was given a prescription drug “Prozac” by her GP just to
help her “level things out”. But to be honest I wish she’d
been assessed by the amazing Mental Health Staff that
we have now as I think it would have helped her a lot
and helped her deal with life much easier, but
unfortunately she passed away in 2015.
“I think everyone has that feeling sometimes, especially
as a teenager and you feel like you don’t quite fit in, or
feel like you act differently to other people? I definitely
had that! At school I definitely classed myself as not in
the most popular group, but more the “middle” group as
you could call it. I was happy with my friends, but I
would always think there was something going on
differently in my head?
As I got older, I recognised certain traits or behaviours
that my Mum had also shown like me. Episodes of deep
My way of coping with my mental health has definitely
been my musical career. Without this I would be lost!! I
need that creativity and that excitement of performing
to satisfy my hyper activeness and it works so well!! I
am so happy when I am producing new music, DJ’ing or
MC’ing and anything I’m feeling just gets channelled
into those areas and it works really well! I knew that I
needed an creative outlet to cope with normal 9-5 life
and instead of my MH symptoms upsetting or
frustrating me then I now treat them as a gift and think
without that part of my personality I wouldn’t have
achieved what I have done so far. I’m so excited to see
what my brain has in store for me in the future!! We are
on this wild BassPhaze journey together and I love it!!”
Let’s keep talking!”
Thank you
An Interview with
The Voice’s
Callum Doignie
by Dribbz.
Hey Callum, it's lovely to finally
feature you in this edition of The
Scene & Syone Magazines. So let's
get straight into it. Could you tell
me where your passion for music
and love of singing first came
from?
I’d say for as long as I can remember, I’ve
always loved music, my old man brought me
up on 50s 60s 70s music, and I’ve always
belted out songs for the family. From the
age of 16 I fell in love with hip hop and
started enjoying freestyling around my
brothers and his friends. And from the age
of 24 I started getting more confident
singing publicly and it’s excelled from then.
be to say reaching the finals of the voice and
duetting with sir tom, but for me it was my
confidence. The way I used to feel in crowds
of people to what I’m doing now is the most
rewarding feeling ever.
How was your experience on The
Voice and working closely with Sir
Tom Jones?
My experience on the voice was unreal, the
whole things was so refreshing and exciting.
I’d seen a completely different side to life
that I never thought was possible. What I
learnt from the voice for me was priceless.
What I’ve picked up as a performer and the
confidence boost it’s given me was what I
needed. Working closely with Sir Tom was a
dream come true.
What has been your biggest
achievement so far within your music
career?
I feel like saying the obvious choice would

I never thought anything like that was
possible and it’s given me memories for life
and there is no better professional than Sir
Tom.
So, since being on the show, are you
looking to release your own music
soon?
Yes!! I’m super excited with some of the
things I’ve been working on and with other
people, I’m hoping to be releasing something
soon!
Being from Telford, what do you think
of the musical talent that is being
recognised within the area and
surroundings?
I think the talent is there and being fairly new
to this music side of Telford I’m constantly
finding new local talent who are awesome and
hopefully they continue pushing what they
love doing!
really push any boundaries. There may of
been an occasion or two where underage
drinking was involved. But that just made me
a better person.
What is the most useless talent you
have?
Being able to hear what kind of construction
power tool is being used from an extremely
long distance away.
Also, on an app called quiz up, in the month
of May 2015 I was best in the world in the
subject of Justin Bieber. If that isn’t useless
talent, I don’t know what is.
And finally, what is the best piece of
advice you have ever been given?
Nobody can save themselves; we save each
other.
By Ad Morris
(Dribbz)
What advice would you give to an
inspiring vocalist who wants to get
themselves out there?
Start with social media, it’s a great way of
building a fan base and also get yourself out
singing where you can, whether that’s
busking, gigging, or even live on your social
media. Get people hearing you!
What is one message that you would
give to your fans?
Thank you to everyone that has supported me
through my career so far. The love I have
received from what I’ve done has been
amazing
and it’s made me have a new lease
of life.
Finally let’s throw three non-musical
related questions your way, As a child
what was the worst trouble you ever got
into?
I’ve not really been one for trouble,
I was an anxious kid, so I didn’t

Sleepy Pups: The Truth
Behind Why Dogs Sleep
So Much
In the bustling day-to-day of
being a dog owner there’s one
thing stands out clearly — their
love for sleep. Whether it's a
fluffy golden retriever dozing off
in the sun or a sleek greyhound
curled up on the sofa, dogs seem
to have mastered the art of
napping
including deep sleep and REM (rapid eye movement)
sleep.
During these phases, essential bodily functions such as
tissue repair, memory consolidation, and hormone
regulation occur, all of which are vital for maintaining
their overall health and well-being.
Consequently, dogs being highly active animals, require
ample rest to facilitate these processes efficiently.
Conserving Energy
Dogs are renowned for their boundless energy and
enthusiasm from repeatedly chasing a ball to sniffing
and exploring outdoors.
However, this energetic way of life comes with a price—
the depletion of significant energy reserves. Dogs need
adequate rest in order to replenish this way of life and to
sustain their active lifestyle.
Sleeping serves as a means of conserving energy,
allowing them to recharge their batteries and be ready
for the next adventure that awaits.
Regulating Temperature
Another factor contributing to dogs' need for sleep is
their need for regulating their temperature.
Dogs, equipped with a dense fur coat, possess limited
sweat glands, making them very susceptible to
overheating. Because of this they seek refuge in cool,
shaded areas during the day, opting to sleep to avoid the
scorching heat.
By conserving energy and minimisng physical activity
during peak temperatures, dogs mitigate the risk of
heat-related illnesses, ensuring their health and wellbeing.
Behavioural Significance
Beyond physiological and evolutionary explanations, the
behavioural aspect offers insight into why dogs sleep so
much.
But what is it that’s behind their need for sleep? Why is
it that our furry companions spend such a significant
portion of their day snoozing? Have a read of some of
the real reasons behind it from regulating temperature
to evolution.
Evolution
At the heart of understanding why dogs sleep so much
lies their evolutionary history.
Dogs, descendants of wolves, share many traits with
their wild ancestors, including their sleeping habits.
Wolves, known for their skills in hunting and survival
exhibit a similar sleep pattern characterised by periods
of rest followed by bursts of activity.
This ancestral legacy ingrained in their DNA causes dogs
to prioritise sleep as a fundamental aspect of their daily
routine.
Physiological Reasons
Alike humans, dogs undergo various stages of sleep,
Dogs are naturally social animals and so often align
their sleep patterns with those of their human
companions. Observing their owners' routines and
adapting to household schedules, dogs synchronise their
sleep-wake cycles to ensure they aren’t missing out on
their much needed socialisation.
Additionally, sleep serves as a form of relaxation and
stress relief for dogs, enabling them to unwind after a
day filled with excitement and stimulation.
In looking into the reality behind a dogs need for sleep,
there are a multitude of evolutionary, physiological, and
behavioural factors all of which come into play.
Understanding and appreciating your dog’s need for rest
is vital as a pet owner to ensure their wellbeing is being
prioritised.
So, the next time you catch your beloved pooch taking a
nap, remember that there is a world of reasons and
explanations behind their need for sleep.
Pets
Scaley Friends:
Exploring The Popular
Choices of Pet Lizards
For those not captivated by the
idea of owning fluffy cats or
dogs, lizards can make diverse
and wonderful pets, giving
enthusiasts a deeper look into
the world of reptiles.
Bearded Dragons require larger enclosures compared to
some other lizard species, with ample space to climb and
explore. They have omnivorous diets, enjoying a variety
of insects, leafy greens, and vegetables.
Regular interaction and enrichment activities, such as
providing branches and rocks for climbing are essential
for keeping Bearded Dragons both mentally and
physically stimulated.
Crested Gecko
Crested Geckos have gained more popularity in recent
years due to their unique appearance, low maintenance
requirements, and ability to thrive in smaller enclosures.
From docile creatures suitable for beginners to the more
exotic species that require specialised care, there's a
lizard to suit every lifestyle and level of experience. Take
a closer look at some popular types of pet lizards as well
as what makes them unique.
Leopard Gecko
Leopard Geckos are among the most popular choice of
pet lizards, prized for their docile nature, ease of care,
and striking appearance.
Native to the deserts of Pakistan and Afghanistan, these
terrestrial lizards are known for their distinctive
leopard-like spots and large, expressive eyes.
Ideal for beginners, Leopard Geckos thrive in simple
setups with minimal requirements. They are
crepuscular, meaning they are most active during dawn
and dusk, making them perfect pets for individuals with
busy schedules.
With proper care, including a suitable enclosure, a
balanced diet of insects, and regular handling, Leopard
Geckos can live for up to 20 years in captivity.
Bearded Dragon
Bearded Dragons are another popular choice among
reptile enthusiasts, renowned for their friendly
demeanour and charismatic personalities.
Native to Australia, these lizards get their name from
the distinctive "beard" of spiky scales they puff out when
threatened or displaying dominance.
Native to New Caledonia, these lizards are characterised
by their distinctive crests running along their heads and
backs.
Crested Geckos are nocturnal, making them an excellent
choice for those who prefer observing their pets in the
evening. They are primarily insectivorous but can also
consume fruit-based diets. Their gentle temperament
and tolerance of handling make them suitable pets for
families with children, provided they are handled with
care.
Blue Tongue Skink
Blue Tongue Skinks are fascinating lizards prized for
their docile nature, striking blue tongues, and robust
build.
Native to Australia and parts of Indonesia, these reptiles
are known for their distinctive flattened bodies and
broad heads.
While Blue Tongue Skinks require larger enclosures due
to their size, they are relatively low maintenance
compared to some other lizard species. They have
omnivorous diets, enjoying a mix of insects, fruits,
vegetables, and occasional protein sources such as
cooked meat or dog food. With proper care, Blue Tongue
Skinks can live for over 20 years in captivity, forming
strong bonds with their owners over time.
The world of pet lizards offers a diverse range of species
each with its own unique characteristics and care needs.
Whether you’re drawn to the gentle Leopard Gecko or
the more charismatic Bearded Dragons, there is a lizard
companion for any reptile lover.
Embracing The Breeze: Top
Women’s Hairstyles As The
Weather Warms Up
As we approach the summer months,
many of us are now looking for
hairstyle changes to suit the warmer
weather.
With the sun peeking through the
clouds and temperatures rising, it's
time to bid adieu to heavy layers and
gorgeous but also keep you cool and
comfortable.
updos, have a look into the trending
women's hairstyles for the warmer
both stylish and practical for the warmer days.
Sun-Kissed Balayage
As the sun becomes a regular guest, it's the perfect time
to lighten up your locks with a sun-kissed balayage.
This hand-painted highlighting technique adds both
dimension and depth to your hair, mimicking the
natural highlights that come from spending time
outdoors.
Whether you prefer subtle caramel tones or bold blonde
Natural Textures
Embrace your natural hair texture this season and let
your curls, coils, or waves shine.
With a (hopefully!) hot summer on its way, now is the
beauty of natural hair.
Use hydrating products to keep your locks moisturised
and frizz-free, allowing your hair to flourish in its
natural state.
Make the most of the warmer months by switching up
your hairstyle and really embrace the spirit of the
Pregnancy
Coping With Pregnancy:
The Three Stages
Are you planning for a new
arrival in 2024? Whether you’re
a first-time mum-to-be or
getting ready to welcome a new
addition to an already growing
family, there’s always plenty of
advice and information to take
in when it comes to pregnancy.
steps you should take to ensure you are being as healthy
as possible.
Getting plenty of rest and drinking fluids is really
important as is maintaining a healthy and balanced diet.
You should also aim to take folic acid up until week
twelve of your pregnancy as well as Vitamin D
supplements throughout.
The Second Trimester
During the second trimester, your baby will begin to
hear some sounds, they will sleep and wake regularly
and may even start to kick.
By around week twenty, your baby’s digestive system
will be working and this is usually the time you can find
out the gender of your little one.
As well as putting on weight as your baby grows, your
body will continue to go through changes in the second
trimester such as:
• Back ache – some people also experience pelvic pain
and start to find it more difficult to move around.
Physiotherapy can help to manage these changes.
• Stretch marks – as your baby grows you may start to
notice stretch marks appear on your skin. There are
plenty of moisturisers and lotions that can help to
soothe your skin during pregnancy though there is little
evidence that they reduce marks.
• You will feel your baby’s movements – as your baby
gets bigger and stronger you will notice these
movements more and get to know their patterns. Speak
to your midwife or antenatal ward as soon as possible if
you notice less movement.
The Third Trimester
Pregnancy is roughly divided into three separate stages,
or ‘trimesters’:
• First Trimester – from conception to 12 weeks
• Second Trimester – 13 to 27 weeks
• Third Trimester 28 to 40 weeks
The First Trimester
During the first trimester is where your baby is really
beginning to develop. Starting out as a tiny ball of cells,
these become an embryo whereas others form the
placenta.
During the first weeks of pregnancy your baby’s organs
and body parts start to form and the cells that make
your baby’s heart start beating. By week six, your baby’s
heartbeat can usually be detected during an ultrasound
and by week twelve they will have developed into
looking more like a little person.
Some of the more common symptoms experienced
during this first stage of pregnancy are:
• Needing to urinate more often than normal
• Tender breasts
• A general feeling of tiredness
• Morning sickness
Most of these symptoms will slowly begin to ease the
later you get into your pregnancy but there are some
During the final trimester, your baby will put on weight
and become much larger. They will usually turn into a
head-down position ready for the birth by week thirty
six.
During this time you may also experience the following
symptoms:
• You may need to urinate more often and may find you
are leaking urine, particularly when coughing or
sneezing – pelvic floor exercises can help with this.
• You may experience swelling in your ankles and feet or
hands and fingers – if this comes on suddenly, you
should contact your midwife as soon as possible.
• Heartburn – during the third trimester you should try
to eat small portions often and stick to foods that are
lesser in flavour.
• Tiredness and breathlessness – you will be offered
blood test during your pregnancy to keep track of your
iron levels and ensuring you are getting plenty of rest
will also help.
As well as the tips listed, you can contact your midwife
or GP if you have any concerns during your pregnancy
and they will be able to advise you on your symptoms
and further ways to cope.
Don’t isolate yourself during your pregnancy and speak
to others that may well have experienced similar
symptoms to you. Try to enjoy your pregnancy as much
as you can because your little one will be here before you
know it!
Summer Fashion
Unveiling the Essentials: 7
Men's Summer Fashion Tips
As the summer makes its first
appearances, it's time for men to
embrace summer fashion and start
planning their wardrobe.
Whether you're planning beach
getaways, outdoor barbecues, or casual
strolls under the sun, mastering the art
of summer dressing is key for the season.
From breezy fabrics to vibrant colours,
here's 7 fashion tips to elevate your
summer style game effortlessly.
Don't shy away from bold patterns such as floral prints,
nautical stripes, and geometric motifs to make a stylish
statement wherever you go.
Versatile Shorts
Say hello to shorts season and invest in a variety of
versatile options that cater to different occasions.
From casual outings to semi-formal gatherings, there's a
pair of shorts for every setting. Classic chino shorts in
neutral tones like khaki or navy blue are timeless staples
that pair effortlessly with polo shirts or casual buttondowns.
For a more relaxed vibe, opt for tailored shorts in
playful prints or bolder colours.
Breathable Footwear
Keep your feet cool and comfortable with footwear
options that are both stylish and practical for summer.
Swap out heavy boots for lightweight alternatives like
canvas sneakers, leather sandals, or sliders. Not only do
these options provide ample ventilation, but they also
add a laid-back charm to your overall look.
For a touch of sophistication, consider suede loafers or
boat shoes that seamlessly transition from day to night.
Smart Casual Layering
Master the art of smart casual dressing by layering
lightweight pieces that offer both style and functionality.
A lightweight linen blazer or a casual denim jacket can
instantly elevate your ensemble while providing a layer
of warmth for cooler evenings.
Layering with lightweight fabrics also allows you to
adapt to changing temperatures without sacrificing your
sense of style.
Statement Sunglasses
Complete your summer look with a stylish pair of
sunglasses that not only protect your eyes from the sun's
glare but also add a dash of personality to your outfit.
Light and Airy Fabrics
Bid farewell to heavy layers and embrace lightweight
fabrics this summer that allow your skin to breathe
freely in the heat.
Opt for pieces crafted from breathable materials like
cotton, linen, and seersucker. Linen shirts paired with
cotton shorts or chinos not only keep you cool but also
offer timeless elegance, perfect for any summer
occasion.
Vibrant Colours and Bold Patterns
Summer is the perfect time to infuse your wardrobe with
vibrant colours and eye-catching patterns that reflect
the season's energy.
Embrace colours like aqua blue, citrus orange, and
tropical green to add a pop of freshness to your summer
outfits.
Whether you prefer classic aviators, retro-inspired
wayfarers, or modern square frames, choose a style that
complements your face shape and reflects your
individuality.
Sunglasses are the ultimate accessory for adding a cool
and polished finish to any summer ensemble and suit
almost every summer event.
Minimalist Accessories
Accessorise with intention by incorporating minimalist
accessories that enhance your look without
overwhelming it.
A classic leather watch, woven belt, or canvas tote bag
are simple yet sophisticated additions that elevate your
outfit without stealing the spotlight.
Opt for accessories that strike the perfect balance
between style and subtlety, allowing your summer attire
to shine brightly.
Our bed, often described as a
sanctuary after a long day, plays an
instrumental role in both our mental
& physical well-being. It's where our
body rejuvenates, our muscles relax
& our mind processes the day's
events, affecting our mood &
overall health.
The bed stands as the bedroom's
focal point & contributes towards
the overall comfort in the room. In
the vast canvas of bedroom
wellness, the bed gives us a holistic
sense of wellness. Waking up to
wellness is what bedtime is all about.
Its the time when the body restores
itself, resets & rejuvenates from the
gruelling hours of a busy & stressful
day
Sleep Wellness
It may seem a bit obvious, but
getting a solid night of sleep begins
with your bed. And if you’re looking
for the best products then look for
the designs & materials that
promote ‘wellness’ as a factor. Over
the years, mattresses can gather
dust mites, allergens, and other tiny
organisms that may lead to mild or
even severe allergic reactions. This
can be particularly bothersome for
people who are sensitive to dust
and for those who share their beds
with these unwelcome inhabitants.
Furthermore, an unclean bed can
worsen respiratory problems & skin
irritations
Avoid Allergy Triggers
But worry not! By opting for
hypoallergenic materials, you can
effectively reduce these issues.
There are many cloths & fabrics that
can keep these at bay. Many of the
manufacturers these days work hard
to keep moisture out by using cloths
that are moisture wicking. Moisture
in mattresses essentially comes from
us, as we each can perspire up to a
pint of sweat a night! Making sure
this does not go into & sit in our
mattresses (mites etc. love this!) can
be safeguarded by adding a
mattress protector on top of the
mattress & underneath bedding
We have recently introduced a new
brand called Purecare into the
showroom. These have a range of
zippered total encasement mattress
protectors which completely
surrounds your mattress for the best,
most effective protection layer
available. These are a 6-sided cover
with a locking, zippered barrier
protecting against moisture,
allergens, bed bugs, dust mites,
mould, mildew & stains.
The last thing we want is to be bitten
by these creatures that will happily
live in our beds! Protecting has to be
the answer & we offer a 20% when
purchasing any mattress or bed in
the showroom. We highly
recommend the Total Encasement
protectors that cover everything
including bed bug infestation too
The same applies for our pillows.
Getting the right ones can also
enhance your wellness. If you’ve
noticed your pillow is stained or
smells slightly off, it’s another
obvious sign you need to buy a
replacement. The scent & stains
usually come from body oils, skin &
hair & Yes the creatures above will
happily live in these too!!
It’s natural for pillows to become
worn out! Don’t let a dirty pillow be
your expectation. Cover it up with a
pillow protector to keep it not only
clean but also free from small
creatures setting up home inside
Take a second and examine your
pillow. Is it flatter than when you first
bought it?
Pillows often “deflate” after years of
use & this is an obvious sign it’s time
for a change. A shopping trip is on
the cards if your pillow is flat enough
to fold & not bounce back. We
have a wide variety in the
showroom with special offers
running well into Summer. We know
this is a prime time for allergies to
start & also the hot nights can make
us sweat more & this all has to go
somewhere! We recommend a
cooling pillow such as the cooling
memory gel for those hot heads, a
super bouncy latex one that does
not lose its shape & even a De-stress
one for those stressful days! We also
have a new range coming that are
for Menopause sufferers too!
Rest assured we have got your back
on Sleep Wellness as Your Sleep
Matters to us as much as it does to
you so do visit us in the Newport
Beds Showroom where we can
advise & help you to choose the
right beds & bedding for you this
coming season
Growing Success: Top Tips
for Creating a Summer
Vegetable Garden
As the sun does its wonderful magic
on our outdoor space, there’s no
better time to start creating a vibrant
vegetable garden to tend and enjoy
over the summer.
Whether you’re an experienced
gardener or a newcomer that’s been
inspired to try your own hand at
gardening, the joy of homegrown
vegetables is something everyone
should be able to savour.
Have a read of some of our top tips
for creating a delicious summer
vegetable garden and get ready to
start growing!
Incorporating compost or aged manure enhances the
soil structure and will allow your plants to root down
and create better vegetables for you to enjoy.
Choose Your Seeds
Choose vegetable varieties suited to the growing
conditions. Summer favourites like tomatoes, cucumbers
and peppers flourish in warmer temperatures and also
offer an array of colours,
textures, and flavours to
suit you.
Also consider
companion planting
to maximise space
and deter any pests.
Planting Techniques
Follow spacing recommendations and planting depths
given to you for each crop, allowing plenty of room for
roots to establish and plants to thrive.
Also consider succession planting in order to stagger
your vegetables and give yourself a continuous supply of
fresh vegetables rather than one bucket load all at once.
Use techniques such as mulching to conserve the soil’s
moisture and suppress weeds, giving your vegetables the
best opportunity for growth.
Water and Maintain
Maintaining the right moisture levels is critical,
especially during the hot summer months.
Water your vegetables deeply and consistently, ensuring
that the roots receive sufficient hydration without
becoming waterlogged.
Monitor plants regularly for signs of pests, diseases, or
any issues to allow yourself time to intervene and
protect the plant.
Harvesting
Planning and Preparation
Before plunging your hands into the soil, it’s important
to take stock of the space you have available and its
exposure to sunlight.
Select a location that receives at least 6-8 hours of direct
sunlight a day to ensure optimal growth for your
veggies. Clear the area of any weeds to provide a clean
canvas for your garden to thrive.
Soil Health
Healthy soil really is key to a successful vegetable
garden.
Test your soil's pH level and nutrient content, amending
it as necessary to create a fertile environment for your
vegetables to grow.
As your garden flourishes and your veggies become
ready to harvest, be sure to savour the joy of your own
homegrown produce.
Harvest vegetables at their peak of freshness when
flavours are most vibrant and be sure to incorporate
your vegetables into wholesome meals to enjoy the
fresher taste of your own grown harvest.
Continue learning
Gardening is a journey of learning and adaptation so be
sure to take note of things that went well on your first
attempt and things you want to change for next year.
There are a multitude of resources available online but
also take the time to speak to other fellow gardeners to
share tips and tricks you’ve picked up along the way.
Getting Your Garden
Summer Ready: Essential
Steps for a Gorgeous
Summer Garden
With the weather warming up and the
sun (hopefully!) arriving, it’s now
finally time to dust off your
gardening gloves and get your
outdoor space ready for the summer
months.
Transforming your garden requires
thoughtful planning and preparation
from preparing soil to selecting the
perfect finishing touches, here's some
thoughtful steps for getting your
garden ready for the summer season
ahead.
Planning and Planting
Map out your garden layout, considering important
features such as sunlight exposure, spacing
requirements, and compatibility between different
plants.
Select a wide range of flowers, herbs, vegetables, and
shrubs to create a gorgeous and fuller looking garden as
well as supporting local biodiversity.
Be sure to choose options suited to your climate and soil
conditions to minimise maintenance requirements and
give your plants the best chance of growth.
Watering
Be sure to establish a watering routine tailored to the
specific needs of your plants.
Deep, infrequent watering encourages strong roots in
your plants and drought tolerance.
Mulching around plants helps retain soil moisture,
suppresses weed growth, and regulates the soil
temperature, all of which boost the chances of your
garden’s success.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is the key to a flourishing garden
throughout the summer months.
Stay on top of tasks such as deadheading wilting flowers,
weeding, and monitoring for any issues with your plants.
Keeping on top of sweeping your patio, washing any
stones and removing any rubbish or unwanted mess
from your garden also saves you a larger job come the
later months of the year.
It’s also the perfect time to give some TLC to any garden
furniture, be sure to get out the hot soapy water and give
them a thorough clean before setting them out for your
summer garden parties.
Create a space to relax
Prepare the soil
The foundation of a thriving garden starts with the
quality of your soil. Conduct a soil test to determine its
pH levels and nutrient composition and be ready to
amend the soil ready for your summer plants and
flowers.
Clearing and Cleaning
Bid farewell to the remainders of winter by clearing any
rubbish, fallen leaves, and weeds from your garden.
Prune overgrown branches and shrubs to encourage new
growth and maintain the desired shape of your plants.
Regular tidying not only enhances the aesthetic appeal
of your garden but also prevents the spread of any nasty
pests and diseases.
We all want a space to
relax during the summer
months. Whether it’s a
swinging chair or a sun
lounger, or just a clean
and tidy bistro set for
you to sit at with a
drink in the sunshine.
Make sure the space is
clear of any clutter,
rubbish or weeds and solely
a space for you to sit at and
enjoy the hard work you’ve put into
your garden. After all, what’s the point
of all the hard work and labour if you haven’t got
somewhere to enjoy it?
pre-wedding get together or an anniversary, create a
beautiful atmosphere with oversized paper flowers and
potted plants as centrepieces.
floral shirts and dresses or accessorising and watch
own tropical setting at home?
with tropical foliage, bright prints and plenty of exotic
food and drink for your guests to enjoy. Set up a tiki bar
serving refreshing cocktails like piña coladas and
mojitos and offer tropical-inspired cuisine such as
skewered shrimp and coconut rice.
Enhance the atmosphere
with a soundtrack of jazz or
swing music and encourage
guests to dress in vintage attire for
a touch of old-world glamour.
Make the most of the vintage theme and why not even
create a game of Cluedo? Get creative and keep your
guests entertained all evening.
A Summer Medley
An ideal option for those on a budget or just wanting to
get everyone involved, a summer medley allows you to
sample different cultures and cuisines without having to
be expensive.
Tell your guests to choose a country and come dressed
and prepared for the occasion with meals and drinks
from their chosen location. Watch as you have guests
appear with sangria and paella to tequila and burritos.
It sets you up for an evening full of variety, flavour and
enjoyment and may even allow your guests to sample
things you’d have never thought to prepare.
Embrace the Summer
Season: 7 Tips For
Refreshing your Interior
Décor
With the summer months upon us,
now is time the shed the warmer
layers and bring a more vibrant
energy to your home interior.
From cool breezy fabrics to bright
colours, decorating your home for the
summer will instantly lift spirits and
create a refreshing feel for the
warmer months.
Whether you’re the host of many
summer parties or just looking for a
new feel in time for the season, have
a read of our top 7 ways to help you
bring that summer feel indoors.
Incorporate pops of vibrant colours such as yellow, or
aqua through pillows, throws, and artwork to add a
more invigorating feel to your space.
Bring the Outdoors In
Embrace the beauty of nature by incorporating natural
elements into your home this summer.
Fresh flowers and potted plants not only breathe life
into your home but also create a sense of tranquillity.
Consider displaying a collection of seashells or beach
stones for a coastal vibe, even if you're miles away from
the seaside.
Opt for Light and Airy Fabrics
Heavy curtains and upholstery are not the vibe for the
summer, instead now is the time for lightweight fabrics
that allow air to circulate freely.
Sheer curtains in linen or cotton instantly create an
airier atmosphere while still providing privacy to your
home. Choose covers in light colours for sofas and chairs
to give your space a relaxed, summery feel.
Add Beachy Touches
Capture the essence of seaside living by incorporating
beachy elements into your home. Striped patterns, rope
accents, and décor such as anchors or sailboats can
instantly transport you to a coastal getaway.
Incorporate these elements through throw pillows, rugs,
artwork, or decorative accessories for a subtle yet stylish
nod to the sea.
Create Outdoor-Inspired Spaces
Make the most of the warm weather by extending your
living space outdoors. Create a cosy reading spot by
placing a lounge chair near a sunny window or set up a
picnic-style dining area with floor cushions and low
tables.
Consider bringing indoor furniture, such as wicker
chairs or rattan stools, outside to blur the lines between
indoor and outdoor living.
Keep It Cool and Comfortable
Summer decor is not only about aesthetics but also
about creating a comfortable environment to escape the
heat.
Invest in lightweight bedding and breathable linens to
ensure a cool and restful night's sleep. Place fans in your
bedroom to promote airflow and consider adding indoor
plants which not only purify the air but also help
regulate humidity.
Illuminate with Soft Lighting
Create a cosy ambiance by incorporating soft, diffused
lighting throughout your home.
Lighten Up with Colour
Summer is synonymous with bright hues and cheerful
tones so swap out the heavy, dark-coloured decor for
lighter shades such as pastels, whites, and soft blues.
Opt for lightweight curtains or blinds that allow natural
light to filter in during the day and compliment with
soft, warm-toned lamps or string lights in the evening.
Candlelight can also add a romantic glow and create a
relaxed atmosphere for summer evenings.
Making The Most of the
Season: Home Improvement
Tasks to Tackle Over
Summer
As summer rolls around, the longer
days and warmer weather create the
perfect time for tackling those home
improvement projects you've been
putting off so far.
Whether you're hoping to increase
your home’s value, enhance your
living space or simply spruce up your
home, there's no shortage of tasks to
dive into during the summer months.
Here's a guide to unlocking the
potential of summer with some of
those important home improvement
tasks.
tear and make the necessary repairs to prevent any
leaks. Clean out gutters to ensure proper drainage and
prevent any water damage later in the year.
Additionally, inspect and repair any cracks or gaps in
your home's foundation to keep those pests and
moisture at bay.
Indoor Refresh
Turn your attention indoors and give your home's
interior a real summer refresh.
Start by decluttering and organising each room to create
a more spacious and inviting environment. Consider
giving walls a fresh coat of paint in light, airy colours to
brighten up living spaces and make your rooms feel
larger.
Update outdated fixtures, such as lighting, faucets, and
cabinet hardware for a more modern touch that can
instantly elevate the look of your home.
Kitchen and Bathroom Renovations
The kitchen and bathroom are two of the most
frequently used rooms in any home, making them prime
candidates for renovation.
Consider updating
countertops, cabinets,
and flooring to give these
rooms a fresh,
contemporary look.
Installing energyefficient
appliances
and fixtures can not
only enhance the
functionality of your
kitchen and bathroom
but also save you
money on utility bills
in the long run.
Energy-Efficient
Upgrades
Take advantage of the summer
months to make energy-efficient
upgrades that can lower your home's energy
consumption and reduce your carbon footprint.
Outdoor Upgrades
The exterior of your home sets the stage for its overall
look. Start by giving your outdoors a good clean,
trimming overgrown bushes, and planting vibrant
flowers to breathe new life into your outdoor space.
Consider adding a patio or decking for outdoor
entertaining or revamping an existing one with fresh
stain or paint. Installing outdoor lighting can also
enhance both the aesthetic and functionality of your
garden, allowing you to enjoy your outdoor space well
into the evening.
Exterior Maintenance
Summer is the ideal time to tackle exterior maintenance
tasks that protect your home from the elements.
Inspect your roof for any signs of damage or wear and
Install programmable thermostats to regulate indoor
temperatures more efficiently and invest in energyefficient
windows to improve your home's overall
efficiency. Consider upgrading to energy-efficient
appliances and lighting fixtures to further reduce energy
consumption and save money on utility bills.
Outdoor Entertainment Spaces
Create the ultimate outdoor entertainment space where
you can relax and unwind with family and friends.
Consider adding features such as a fire pit or outdoor
kitchen for cosy gatherings and al fresco dining. Install a
pergola or awning to provide shade and shelter from the
sun and add comfortable seating and outdoor decor to
create a more welcoming atmosphere.
Trend: How to Decorate
Your Home’s Entrance
As the warmth of summer beckons,
it’s time to bid farewell to the
remnants of spring and welcome the
vibrant energy of the season.
And what better way to do that by
getting in line with the Instagram
trend and adding gorgeous seasonal
décor to your home’s entrance? A
great way of showing your creative
side and pride in your home before
your guests even walk through the
door, decorating your home’s entry
way should definitely be on your todo
list this season.
Whether you have a spacious porch
or a cosy doorstep, here are five tips
to help you infuse your home
entrance with the refreshing spirit of
the season.
of colour by placing potted flowers or hanging baskets
near your entrance.
Opt for cheerful varieties such as petunias, marigolds, or
geraniums to instantly brighten up your entry space.
For a more personalised touch, consider arranging a DIY
floral wreath using seasonal flowers and foliage. Not
only will this add a pop of colour, but it will also
brighten up your entrance with the delightful scent of
summer.
Light and Airy
Summer is synonymous with lightness and airiness, so
why not reflect these qualities in your entrance decor?
If you have a larger porch space with outdoor seating,
make the most of it by showering your entrance with
lightweight throws or cushions in pastel shades to create
a cosy seating area that invites relaxation.
Incorporating breezy fabrics such as cotton or linen into
your decor will create a sense of coolness which not only
looks gorgeous but is also perfect for combating the
summer heat.
Coastal Vibes
Embrace a coastal vibe by incorporating nautical
elements into your entrance decor.
Think seashells, driftwood, or rope accents that evoke
gorgeous images of sun-kissed beaches and salty sea
breezes.
Hang a rustic wooden sign or display a collection of
seashells in glass jars for a more rustic touch. Consider
adding a weathered anchors or lifebuoys as statement
pieces to really give credit to your summer theme.
Tropical
Transform your home entrance into a stunning tropical
oasis by incorporating elements inspired by the more
exotic destinations.
Introduce large leafy plants such as palms or ferns to
create a backdrop that mimics a tropical jungle. Add
pops of colour with tropical blooms like orchids or
hibiscus and accessorise with woven rattan or bamboo
furniture for an island-inspired feel.
Seasonal Lighting
Extend the magic of summer evenings into your
entrance by incorporating seasonal lighting elements.
String fairy lights along your porch railing or drape
them around potted plants for a twinkling look that’s
perfect for warm summer nights.
Floral Entrance
Nothing epitomises the essence of summer quite like
vibrant flowers. Welcome your guests with an explosion
Install solar-powered lanterns or pathway lights to
illuminate the entrance and guide guests to your door
with candles in decorative lanterns or hurricane vases
for a warm, inviting glow to your entrance.
Volkswagen ID7 All Electric
Fastback By Sue Cooke
If you are considering buying an all
electric powered car, Volkswagen has
provided an easier choice with three
new e-mobility tools on the VW
website. The tools provide
information on the range, charging
times and running costs, model by
model and according to each person’s
own driving profile. Visitors to the
site, select their model, trim and
battery size, then use on-screen
sliders to adjust factors such as
weather, driving style and charging
locations to see instantly how owning
an electric vehicle compares with
petrol and diesel alternatives.
The Volkswagen ID7 which I road tested this week is
one of the best all electric cars I have driven this
year. Volkswagen’s first all electric upper mid sized
car is the brand’s top of the range ID model, offering
outstanding efficiency. The 77kW battery has fast
DC charging and a projected driving range of about
383 miles.
The exterior of the fastback has an aerodynamic
design with an elegantly sloping roof and coupe
profile. Interior space is exceptional but the five
metres body length means the ID7 will overhang a
regular parking space.
Doors, which open where they are put, close with a
soft muted quality note. Once inside the luxurious
cabin the ID.7 is really impressive. The last radio
station played and the last destination visited are
shown on start up, waiting for instructions.
High quality materials and the smooth ultra quiet
cabin give a very relaxing journey. Slide behind the
steering wheel into the remembered seat position
and the front dash instantly lights up. No bothering
with inserting an ignition key, pressing a start button
or flipping the manual brake off. It has already
happened, automatically. Drive or reverse is
engaged with the gear stick behind the steering wheel
and the front seat belts slightly tug on the shoulders
to let the driver and passenger know the car is ready
to go. A line of blue light sequentially moves across
the dash as you indicate left or right.
The front seat is very comfortable and there is an
option if the ergoActive premium seats are chosen to
have a massage function, other relaxation
programmes and automatic air conditioning.
The very large 15 inch infotainment screen, centre
dash, gives very clear and easy to use instructions for
the sat nav or media. I like the head up display in
the windscreen which shows the approach to a
roundabout and a number which states which exit
you leave at. As you get nearer to the exit, two
arrows appear in the head up display indicating an
immediate turn.
Under the screen the centre console has a large
storage area, wireless charging and good size bottle
holders.
Best in class assistance systems include Travel Assist
which helps change lanes at speed and automatic
parking with memory function. I like the new
panoramic sunroof with Smart glass which changes
from opaque to transparent using touch control.
Voice commands will also operate the roof and other
functions.
The Volkswagen ID7 has a beautifully smooth ride,
accelerates quickly, and is so quiet. The all electric
Fastback would be my car of choice but to find your
own preference you can visit the VW website and try
out the three e-mobility tools online
Hyundai Tucson SUV plug
in hybrid By Sue Cooke
For a family holiday, there are so many storage areas.
Door pockets are large. There are two cupholders. The
glove box is large and the centre storage box is huge.
Designers have even made use of this central part
between the front seats and inserted a small storage area
which would usefully hold a mobile phone. There are
small storage pockets by the door handle, above the
large storage pocket at the bottom of the door.
I and my passengers much appreciated the comfortable
wide and supportive seats for a long journey to visit
relatives. N line red trim adds to the quality styling.
Rear seats will fold down by just pressing a button. Rear
passengers enjoy 26mm of additional legroom. Boot
space has increased, offering up to 616 litres of luggage
capacity with the seats up and 1795 litres with the seats
folded.
You won’t be able to buy a new hybrid
vehicle from the year 2035 but you
will still be able to use them. The
Hyundai Tucson plug in hybrid I am
road testing this week is the second
best-selling hybrid in the UK with
Plug-in versions increasing by 88%
year-on-year. Power comes from the
1.6 litre petrol engine and an electric
battery, which owners can recharge.
When the energy in the electric
battery is depleted, the traditional
engine takes over. .
Hyundai SUV sales are increasing and the Tucson, the
family adventure vehicle, is leading the surge. The
exterior styling of the fourth generation model is
attractive and is the first partial redesign in three years.
There is a curved coupe roofline and side chiselled
surface which portrays a forward motion. This Tucson is
bigger and wider than its predecessor. The N line
sporty trim has beautiful alloy wheels and Parametric
jewel like daytime running lights.
The spacious and practical interior has a large 10.25inch
touchscreen which shows a full colour clear reversing
image and buttons are large and simple. Another
10.25inch screen behind the steering wheel shows two
digital circles, one of which reminds the driver of the
speed the car is doing and usefully, the speed of the
road. The other dial informs the driver if the SUV is in
Eco mode, charging or using Power, which did remind
me to take a slower speed so as not to use precious fuel.
A small digital number told me that I was achieving
around 47.5mpg when using Power mode.
Hyundai describes the Tucson as a trustworthy
companion with advanced technology in the easy to use
dual cockpit. The heat, ventilation and air conditioning
functions are controlled by touch. The three-zone
climate control caters to passengers in the rear seats in
addition to occupants in the front of the vehicle and
ventilated seats in the front and heated seats in the front
and rear provide further comfort. There is a range of
useful Hyundai SmartSense safety features,
If you have the opportunity for some off roading, the
Next Level BBQ Chicken
BBC Good food guide.
Method
STEP 1
To prepare the meat, tip all the ingredients,
except for the chicken and ketchup, into a blender
or mini processor. Add a pinch of salt and blitz to
a rough paste.
Tip two-thirds of the paste into a large bowl with
the chicken and massage the marinade into the
meat. Cover and leave for at least 1 hr at room
temperature, or up to 48 hrs in the fridge.
STEP 2
Meanwhile, make the barbecue sauce. Tip the
remaining paste into a small saucepan and bring
to a simmer. Cook for 5 mins until it thickens and
becomes darker, then add the ketchup and cook
for 5 mins until sticky. Tip into a container and
set aside.
Ingredients
• 2 red chillies
• 8 spring onions
• thumb-sized piece of ginger
• 8 garlic cloves
• 2 tbsp thyme
• 1 bay leaf
• 1 tsp ground cumin
• ½ tsp paprika
• 3 tbsp dark brown soft sugar
• 4 tbsp soy sauce
• 4 limes 2 juiced, plus 2 halved to
serve
• 1.5kg mix of chicken drumsticks
and wings, lightly scored
• 200ml ketchup
STEP 3
Light the barbecue, ensuring the coals are piled
up at one end and leaving only a couple of coals
on the other side. Lay the chicken on the emptier
side. If you’re making the smoke mix, carefully
scatter all the ingredients directly onto the piledup
coals. Cover the barbecue (with the vents open)
and cook the chicken for 20 mins. Remove the lid
and turn the chicken, then cover again and cook
for a further 20 mins.
STEP 4
Remove the lid and move the chicken across the
grill so it’s above the piled-up coals, then baste
with some of the barbecue sauce, keeping enough
aside, in a separate container, to serve later. Cook
for 10 mins, adding a few more coals if you need
to and turning often, until nicely charred and
cooked through – a digital thermometer inserted
through the thickest part of the meat should read
at least 65C.
STEP 5
Put the lime halves on the grill, over the coals, cut
side down for 3-4 mins until charred. Serve the
chicken with the lime for squeezing over and
reserved barbecue sauce for dipping.
Whole Burnt
Aubergine By Jamie Oliver.
Ingredients
• 2 aubergines
• 50 g tahini paste, (1¾ oz)
• 50 ml ice-cold water,
(1¾ fl oz)
• 2 egg yolks, from beautiful
eggs
FOR THE LEMON, CHILLI & GARLIC
DRESSING
• 1 red chilli, deseeded and
finely chopped
(about 10 g / 1/3 oz)
• 1 green chilli, deseeded and
finely chopped
(about 10 g / 1/3 oz
• 3 large garlic cloves, peeled
and finely chopped
(about 20 g / ¾ oz)
• 1-2 lemons, juice of
(about 80 ml / 2¾ fl oz)
• 1 teaspoon table salt
• 1 teaspoon ground cumin
• 1 teaspoon caster sugar
• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• 1 bunch of parsley, leaves
picked and chopped
(about 30 g / 1 oz)
STEP 2
While the aubergines are cooking, combine all the
dressing ingredients apart from the chopped
parsley. Separately mix the tahini paste with the
water to form a thick whipped cream consistency.
STEP 3
Once the aubergines are fully blackened, remove
from the grill onto serving plates and slit open to
reveal the flesh.
STEP 4
Add the parsley to the dressing and mix well. Use
half the dressing to douse the flesh of the slit
aubergines, then top with the whipped tahini. Use
the back of a spoon to create a little well in the
tahini and place a raw egg yolk in the centre of
each one. Using tongs, carefully remove a hot
charcoal from the fire and lightly char the top of
each yolk. Return the coal to the fire and drizzle
the remaining dressing over the aubergines before
serving.
Method
STEP 1
Place the whole aubergines on a very hot grill, or
directly on the embers if you prefer. Let them
scorch all over, turning occasionally, until the
skin is charred, and the flesh is so soft that it
seems they are going to collapse.
‘Diversity Champions and Head of Wellbeing, Maggie Keeley, with the Right Honourable, Stuart Lawrence.’
Award-Worthy Champions: Building a Brighter Future at WGS
Imagine a school where you can
celebrate who you are, in a
community that is welcoming, warm
and supportive. That’s the ethos at
Wolverhampton Grammar School
(WGS), where Student Diversity
Champions have been nominated
for a national diversity award.
Founded in 2012, the concept of the
National Diversity Awards arose when
Founder, Paul Sesay and his dedicated
team identified an urgent need for more
positive role models to be actively
promoted, with the aim to empower and
inspire the wide breadth of diverse
communities across the UK. The group
of WGS students all aged 11 to 18
years, go above and beyond in their
free time to foster a vibrant and
inclusive environment within the School
and also the wider community.
In weekly meetings, the Diversity
Champions plan ways to mark different
events that acknowledge the nine
protected characteristics they all learn
about in their Wellbeing lessons. They
also work alongside Sixth Form Student
Voice representatives who meet with
advocates from every form group to
discuss themes and issues relevant to
all students.
Some of the notable events that the
Diversity Champions have co-ordinated
to date include raising awareness of the
importance of showing empathy,
tolerance and fairness during big
celebrations around Black History
Month. They welcomed Patron of the
Black Curriculum, the Right Honourable
Stuart Lawrence, brother of Stephen
Lawrence, who was tragically murdered
in a racist attack in 1993. They had the
honour of interviewing Stuart and
discussed the legacy they want to leave
behind at WGS to ensure their work on
diversity lasts a lifetime. They were able
to speak about the pride they felt in
running an assembly on Black History
Month for other students.
‘Celebrating cultural diversity at
We are WGS Day’
Other activities have included
celebrating religious events such as
Eid, Diwali and Vaisakhi, raising
awareness of events such as World
Mental Health Day, LGBTQ+ History
Month and South Asian Heritage Month
and getting involved with charity
fundraising or highlighting topical
issues that might affect young people
such as discrimination, online safety,
sexism and much more.
Most recently a ‘We are WGS Day’ was
the culmination of much work and a
true celebration of the progress
Diversity Champions have made so far
to build a more cohesive and happy
school. A joyous day was jam-packed
with activities that celebrated the many
cultures and identities of students and
staff.
Throughout all these events with the
support of their teachers, the Diversity
Champions have led the way with
ideas, enthusiasm and hard work. Their
passion for kindness, empathy and
positivity is a shining light and we hope
their efforts are recognised in the
shortlisting for this prestigious award.
We wish them the very best of luck.
