My mother worked hard for me to be an educated person. She always gave me<br />
advice on how to behave to become a successful person. She is a nice mother. I love<br />
her. She gives me love, she gives me all I want. I will love my mom all my life. She is a<br />
hero to me.<br />
Born in Guinea, West Africa, Aissatou Diallo had lived in<br />
<strong>New</strong> York City for 16 months when she wrote, “My Mother,<br />
My Hero.” She studies reading and writing at United Bronx<br />
Parents <strong>of</strong> <strong>School</strong> 2, where her teacher is Wendy Wen.<br />
“Something important for me,” she writes, “is to learn to<br />
speak English and have a chance to go back to my country<br />
and work there in accounting.” Aissatou Diallo is married<br />
and has three children, including a new baby boy.<br />
