Eleanor Faye Woods (b. 1998)Eleanor Faye Woods is a Scottish artistcurrently living and working in WestYorkshire. Her symbolic artwork acts as alove letter to her own experience, full oflife’s joy, absurdity, humour, loss and fear.Recent works explore her own personaljourney through grief, one she describesas dark, weepy and often hilarious. Shehails her work as a tangilble form of innercatharsis. Using raw pigments and acrylicink she forces rich colour into the grainof the canvas, blurring edges with copiousamounts of water or using thin layers of oilto blend the figures with their backgroundscreating an ethereal presence. As Woodssays “I try to bring attention to the surrealaspects of life and the way the oddness ofexperience manifests within individuals andhow that manifestation then affects me. Inmy vulnerability I crave strange moments ofintimacy.
