Project 1 - Kanawha County, WVCAMP VIRGIL TATE8/11 - 8/22While working for Camp Virgil Tate, a 4-H camp, River 4 was primarilydoing infrastructure improvements and trail blazing and maintenance.The team cleared over 40,000 square feet of poison ivy and weedsfrom the property, did 1,300 square feet of landscaping in front ofcabins and the main lodge. They also cleared debris and set up 30 trailmarkers on roughly 2.5 miles of trail, filled road potholes, and completelyrenovated a kitchen, which included painting 530 square feet of walls. Althoughthey were originally sent to work on this project for a month, River 4 were onlythere for a week before being called to do disaster relief.Project 2 - Martin, KYCHRISTIANAPPALACHIAN8/22 - 9/12PROJECTRiver 4 was called to do disaster relief in EasternKentucky in response to the July 28th flooding event.In Kentucky, they worked with the ChristianAppalachian Project (CAP) for 3 weeks. Their workconsisted of sorting through roughly 3,055 pounds ofclothing donations at St Vincent’s Mission, organizingCAP supply warehouses, and working directly withaffected families ianff etchte ddistribution center. In the distribunearly 150 people were assisted by members of River 4, which indistributing 250 pounds of clothing, 2,000 pounds of household gand aiding families in picking out general flood relief items.Predominantly, Predominantly, however, the team’s effortswere focused on the reconstruction of 11survivor's homes in Floyd and Knott Counties.We cleared out 10,500 pounds of debrisinsulation, flooringand drywall.from homes, mucked and gut andyellorweiendstalled flood-water inundated
