Tide 5Round 1, Project 1:Trailbuilding in Mountain BridgeWilderness AreaFor their first project of the round, Tide 5 memberswent to Moutain Bridge Wilderness Area in Pickens,South Carolina to work on a trail building project. Thesponsor of this project was the South Carolina StateParks. Over the course of this project, Tide 5 creatednearly a mile of new trail, built three bridges, andpainted four bathrooms. Tide 5 members liked workingin nature, and they were excited to learn how to use avariety of new tools. The team also went to two ISPs atan animal shelter, which they really enjoyed. Outsideof work, the team enjoyed hiking in Mountain BridgeWilderness Area and going to educational events puton by the South Carolina State Parks.Round 1, Project 2:Construction with Sea Island Habitatfor HumanityTIDE 5 FACTS!Van Name: SilviaTeam Song: Mr. Rager by Kid CudiNumber of Crickets Eaten: 20For their second project of the round, Tide 5traveled to Johns Island, South Carolina to work withSea Island Habitat for Humanity. While working on thisproject, Tide 5 helped install subfloor, paint walls, buildinterior walls, lay sod, install shingles and siding, put uptrusses and gables, and more! Tide 5 members had alot of fun on the worksite, and they gained a variety ofvaluable construction skills. The team had a NDoSproject with Veterans on Deck, which is anorganization that takes veterans sailing to help themwith social reintegration; in addition to NDoS, Tide 5members completed three ISPs. Outside of work, Tide5 members enjoyed going to the beach, visiting a localfarmer's market, and taking a day trip to Charleston.
