Hackney carriages (all London style cabs) are allowed to<br />
ply for hire and pick up passengers who flag them down.<br />
Private hire vehicles are not allowed to ply for hire or to<br />
pick up passengers who try to flag them down. Private<br />
hire vehicles must <strong>always</strong> be booked through the operator<br />
(ring the firm or go into the operator’s office).<br />
NEVER get into a private hire vehicle that you have not booked or<br />
that does not have a plate on the rear. It is not insured to carry<br />
you and it may not even be licensed!<br />
