Romance
Intimate, Romance
Most memorable couple
moments
Leon: I remember the first day of our Korea exchange back in 2016 very vividly
because it was the first time we were travelling together as a couple. Our Airbnb
host was supposed to fetch us from Myeongdong station but did not turn up and
we could not contact him. So, we ended up climbing 2 steep hills before a super
long flight of stairs (there were no lifts in Korea) to get to our apartment. I had to
help both of us carry our luggages and being super scrawny back then, I really
struggled the whole journey. But I’m always thankful she never ever complained
and just laughed the whole way with me, which made it all so much easier.
Joey: Actually because Leon loves his food, a lot of our favourite memories revolve
around food adventures, from going to try out Food King Good recommendations,
going to JB to eat, or even our first (and hopefully not the last, still TBD) meal we
cooked together one Valentine’s Day. I remember when we wanted to try out Man
Man Unagi when it first opened, and when we reached there was such a long
queue. But we decided to just queue anyway, and we even decided to watch Nikita
while waiting. Poor Leon had to hold on to a his super heavy laptop while we
queued for I think 3 hours! But I love how that’s just the kind of silly things we’d
do, and may we always go on lots of adventures together.
Hosier Lane
Faceswapping
Memorable moments in Melbourne:
Leon: Faceswapping at Hosier Lane; Running through the heavy rain after our evening shoot at the
Parliament House and being completely drenched because our umbrellas were too small then having a nice
hot meal at Melvin and Wilson’s Airbnb; When someone’s dog randomly crashed out photoshoot at Brighton
Beach; When Melvin told me to surprise tickle Jiamz at the Cape Otway Lighthouse.
Joey: One of the most memorable moments would be getting sneak attack and tickled until I almost fell to
the ground, he really followed through on the instructions to not let go no matter what! And I wont forget
all the silly things that Leon said or did, like chanting spells in several languages to make me laugh, and
some amazing skills like being able to move only one eyeball to the side. Also, having to walk back to our
car when there was a heavy downpour after our first day of shoot, but the nice hot Chinese meal back at
Melvin and Wilson’s afterwards was really nice.
Describe your first impression of
each other.
Leon: Although she was one of the big bosses for our FOC organising committee, she still
seemed very quiet and reserved. That said, she always had a sweet smile and pretty face
Joey: My first impression of him was that he’s super smart and studious. He was always
getting As, getting on the Dean’s List. Everyone always say that he’s smart but actually,
I’m the smarter one for making him my investment for the future!

What would you do if you woke up as the opposite gender?
Joey: I’ll just freak out and hide in my room and try to reverse it back! Don’t think I can
stand the messiness living as a dude.
Leon: To check my body out and have a feel of it.
My definition of
love.
Leon: Love is a commitment to always choose
your partner in good times and bad times.
Joey: Love is to always be there for each
other, always showing support and concern,
and wanting the best for the person.

What was your proposal like?
Leon: It was a really simple and private affair. Because of the 2 pax group size during
COVID, I could only sneakily invite 2 of our friends to help capture the memories. We
planned to go for a staycation, so I first got her friend to bring her to do her hair and
nails in the morning while our room was being decorated. The hotel staff kindly helped to
call her to pretend that our check-in was delayed to give us more time to set up the room.
Once everything was in place, it was just the usual getting down on one knee and the rest
was history. Special mention to Delwyn (and his 2 sisters), Jessy and the kind staff at
Pan Pacific Hotel for helping make this surprise a success
Joey: It was during the pandemic so we had booked ourselves a staycation. He pretended
that he had a work meeting to attend so we couldn’t check in early, and got our friend to
make plans with me for a pampering session, while he got the room decorated for the
proposal! I was caught off guard because while I had initial suspicions, he managed to
successfully derailed them with some acting and help from our friends.

If your partner
is an animal,
what would
they be?
Leon: She would be a Turtle. Because she is forever so shy and
awkward to meet new people. But just like the hard shell of a
turtle, she has been the more resilient one in our relationship
and stood by me in even in my darkest moments. Lastly, I’m
forever thankful that she always reminds me to slow down and
enjoy the process, rather than rushing from point to point.
Joey: Loves walks, eats sloppily, enjoys snuggles and
scratchies…. Sometimes I wonder if he was actually a doggo in
his past life! He also says I’m never allowed to get a pet dog, I
think it’s secretly because he doesn’t want to get replaced!
How did the both of you met?
Leon: She was my boss in the organising committee for our freshmen orientation camp,
but we didn’t talk much at first. Later in the year when we were studying for our finals, I
saw she was upset dealing with friend issues, so I went to ask her about it and that was
how we started talking.
Joey: We met during our University days, and we would both study with our friends
around the same area. He was always at a fixed booth with his friend, and was known to
be a mugger, and he’d leave his things and bag behind to go for a quick shower in hall so
that he could ‘chope’ the seat! We only started talking more after I consulted him about an
incident that occurred between some friends and I was caught in the middle. And the rest
is history!

Thank you Leon & Joey for entrusting my vision for this Melbourne
Lovescapade. It is definitely one of the key milestones in my career
and the memories forged will always be part of a little compartment
in my heart.
I love to thank Pheny from makeupbypheny_ks too for the amazing
hair and make up for Leon and Joey.
