About Me
My name is Andres Camilo Mahecha Buitrago, a fashion designer and
manager from Bogotá, Colombia. I am committed to social, technological,
and environmental progress, with clear and achievable goals in growing the
genderless fashion movement and promoting it in different regions of the
world, permeating every stage of a person's life from childhood to old age.
My skills in leadership, harmony, charisma, cooperation, persistence, and
universalism have allowed me to fully achieve my academic objectives.
As a designer, I tend towards a classic and alternative aesthetic, creating a
hybrid between the two while maintaining elegance and good taste. Based
on the seven universal styles, I consider myself to have a dramatic style,
linked with innovation, as I seek to innovate in highly dimensional or slim
silhouettes, deep colors with vibrant contrasts, unique accessories, and a
novel personal style.
Throughout my experience, I have focused on the formal sector, starting
with a women's collection, then expanding to men's wear and bridal wear. I
have also ventured into intimate wear, beachwear, and sportswear. In
addition to my skills in textile processes such as embroidery, jewelry
embellishment, textile printing, and localization, one of my characteristics
as a designer is the excellent quality of the products, both externally and
internally, seeking precision and subtlety. Hand finishes are common in my
work.
Currently, I am considering creating a brand with the feature of creating
genderless fashion, without abandoning the classic postures of garments in
order to provide variety to consumers. There are challenges such as body
anatomy and traditional social postures. On one hand, versatile patterning
has been achieved, and on the other hand, younger generations are more
open to non-gendered clothing postures. Additionally, the exploration of
textiles, forms, silhouettes, and ornamentation will be showcased in the
upcoming projects.

Introduction
"The Letter of Life" collection
is a story inspired by tarot cards,
told through a series of 10 looks
that narrate the journey from
childhood to adulthood,
capturing the various
interpretations of tarot cards. It
is targeted towards a working
and entrepreneurial woman,
aged 28 to 40, seeking luxurious
garments for formal occasions,
bringing fantasy and elegance
within the rules of good taste.
The collection draws its
inspiration from tarot cards,
which some scholars believe
originated in the Middle East
among Berber peoples and later
made their way to Europe
during the High Middle Ages.
The first known evidence of
tarot cards as we know them
today dates back to 1441 when
they were used by the Duke of
Milan. Initially, tarot decks
consisted of a single arcana, and
later, the minor arcana were
added.
The first arcana, or major
arcana, represents the major life
lessons including the physical,
intellectual, emotional, and
spiritual aspects. It explores into
your weaknesses and strengths,
fears and expectations, and the
depths of your personality. The
major arcana consists of 21
cards.
The minor arcana is divided
into four suits: cups, which
relate to love and emotions;
pentacles or coins, representing
the material aspects such as
finances, career, or work;
swords, associated with
intellect, social interactions,
and conflicts; and wands,
representing physical energy,
growth, and personal enterprise.

Sketching
Based on the information provided, 10 tarot cards
were chosen to tell the story of childhood, youth,
adulthood, and maturity. Each card's interpretation
was translated into design elements.
Look 1
23
We start with the King of
Pentacles, which signifies the
autonomy of living, meaning
the beginning of independence.
For this look, elements alluding
to a king are incorporated, such
as the ermine fur and
extravagance, with elaborate
processes of coin
embellishments.
In the second look, we take
inspiration from the Queen of
Swords, representing children
learning to defend themselves
and assert their independence.
Elements that slightly modify
the silhouette are used, with
swords serving as a design
source. Influences from 16thcentury
queens, such as ruffed
collars and capes, are
incorporated.
Look 2
24
Look 3
25
The third look is inspired by the
Knight of Cups, representing
the blossoming self-love of preadolescence.
The goal is to
stylize the silhouette with broad
shoulders, curved cuts, and
flowing lines throughout the
body. Medieval elements from
knights are incorporated into
the design.
The fourth look is inspired by
the Page of Wands, representing
a period of rebellion and the
search for freedom. The
garment is designed to be
slightly revealing, resembling a
medieval page outfit, with the
color red symbolizing rebellion.
Look 4
26
Look 5
27
Next is the card of The Devil,
representing significant choices
but opting for the trivial and
more superficial path. The
design incorporates highly
sexualized elements such as
plunging necklines, small
garments, feathers, and
transparencies, giving it a
Madame-like appearance.
The Moon card represents the
transition from adolescence to
adulthood and the assumption
of responsibilities. The design
reflects a slightly more mature
aesthetic with a soft shimmer,
conveying authenticity. The
crater-like patterns and
different phases of the moon are
incorporated into the look's
design.
Look 6
28
The Sun card represents success and the
arrival of light in your life. It signifies laying
the foundations for future achievements. The
design aims to overshadow everything else,
featuring an expansive and overwhelming
silhouette. Excessive elements are used to
demonstrate the vastness of the sky, with
feathers symbolizing sun rays. Embedded
shimmering details adorn the entire dress,
representing the radiant glow of the sun.
Look 7
The next card is about
maturity, the stage of the final
step, where you have already
experienced and devoured the
world. The design aims to be
splendid and connected with
the entire world and nature.
Look 8
30
31
The Empress is the card of the
peak success in your life,
representing the highest
splendor. It seeks elements that
characterize a worthy Empress,
such as ermine, exquisite
embroidery, a queen's collar,
and an abundance of textiles to
showcase her wealth and power.
Look 9
32
Look 10
Death, the final passage of life, is a card that
speaks to us about opening our eyes and asking
ourselves if we truly lived life or simply passed
through it. I decided to take inspiration from the
allegorical figure of Death in the Western
tradition, creating a design that embodies a
powerful figure, as Death is the only entity that
holds true power over all. The design features an
oversized silhouette, feathers, drapery, and a cape
reminiscent of Death's presence.
33
34
Toile
35
A basic pattern was created for a
corset and palazzo-style pants,
allowing for some ease in the
crotch area to provide comfort
and create a jumpsuit. Different
necklines were tested and darts
were adjusted to achieve a
proper fit on the body.
Subsequent modifications were
made to the waist and shoulders
for a perfect fit on the body.
36
Look 8 was chosen to bring to
life. This look consists of a
jumpsuit and a jacket. The
jumpsuit features a two-layered
corset, one layer made of satin
and the other layer made of
embroidered tulle with roses
and leaves. The palazzo pants
are also two-layered, with one
layer made of chiffon and
another layer made of Armani
fabric.
For the jacket, I decided to incorporate a Queen's
collar made of two layers of gabardine and chiffon.
The corset has a deep V-neckline, 3/4 sleeves with
circular cuffs, and a 6-meter fabric flare that extends
to the floor, fastened with a single button at the waist.

There is no brightness
without darkness
Menswear formalwear 2022 s/s

44
Introduction
"There is no brightness without darkness" is a collection that originates from the 1920s,
rethinking the traditional elements of the masculine world, particularly in the formal
sector, and creating a blend of femininity and masculinity. It incorporates techniques from
that era to craft each of the looks.
Research
45
On the fashion side, there are significant changes as well, as it
is the decade when corsets, long dresses, and large hats are
abandoned. In women's fashion, looser silhouettes and fringe
become popular, while in men's fashion, there is a departure
from dark colors and a greater implementation of accessories
such as ties.
A comprehension of the
historical period is made, which
begins with the end of World
War I and the signing of the
Treaty of Versailles. From this
year onward, a period of
reconstruction and economic
abundance begins, as European
empires gain access to Middle
Eastern oil and the United
States loans money to rebuild
Europe. It is an era of excess,
extravagance, and frivolity,
with a desire for the forbidden
since alcohol and cigarettes
were prohibited at the time.
The artistic movements of the
era reflect the context,
showcasing excess and
modernization through the use
of lines and geometry.
46
Concept
In this exploration, we conclude with four very important
concepts that translate into design: Artificial Beauty, an era
where people wanted to distance themselves from reality,
therefore the use of sheer fabrics to hide skin imperfections
but highlight the body; Madness will be represented through
optical illusions of movement, with fringe, excessive textiles,
and lustres on fabrics; Exoticism, influenced by China and
India during that time, will be reflected through pleats that
mirror the reliefs of their cultures; and finally,
Extravagance, derived from the Art Deco movement of the
period, will be expressed through embellishments and
costume jewelry, while maintaining the aesthetic values of
the movement.

User Profile
A 30-year-old man living in Bogotá,
working in finance or the arts, an
entrepreneur, and an investor. He is
an elegant, cultured, intelligent,
balanced, modern, and refined
individual. His hobbies include
reading, meditating, appreciating
art and music, going out to parties,
and spending time with friends and
family. He leads a flexible but
committed work-life, exercises, eats
a balanced diet, reads, and seeks
enriching activities such as sports,
arts, and tourism.
5
For the initial sketching processes, we wanted to work with
textures, starting with basic silhouettes to experiment with their
applications. Then, we decided to incorporate elements from Art
Deco, its decorations, and arts. Through collage on the fashion
figure, we explored new silhouettes, shapes, and some textures.
We created long coats with hand-finished details and golden
embellishments, shirts with minimal alterations, vests, skirts, and
pants with vents.
Sketching
56
The process was
carried out in an
iterative manner,
creating something
highly experimental
while keeping in
mind the
practicality of the
pieces, ensuring that
they are unique and
authentic.
Even elements of
pattern-making
were conceived to be
more precise and
clear, ensuring the
garments have a
well-constructed fit.
For the first look, it was inspired by a
stained glass window from a church of
that era. Initially, the idea was to create a
full-length dress, but it evolved into a
long coat with new shapes and
embellishments using costume jewelry.
The accompanying pants feature
diagonal cuts and transparent elements,
adding a touch of intrigue to the overall
design.
57
Look 1
58
Look 2
The second look is inspired by the
characteristic reliefs of the era,
incorporating their shapes and textures. It
features a shirt with pleated round cuffs, a
vest with a downward extended collar in
geometric patterns and embellishments,
specifically in curved lines. The pants are
styled in a sleek manner with vents and
adorned with fringes at the bottom,
adding a touch of movement.
59
In this look, a literal element
that represents artificial beauty
is incorporated, namely the
corset. The design aims to
artificially enhance the body
shape, with embroidered
costume jewelry on a ecru cloth
fabric.
Look 3
60
Look 4
The two-piece suit consists of a
jacket and a skirt, following the
geometric patterns of Art Deco.
It plays with lapels and
transparencies in geometric
silhouettes, adorned with silver
costume jewelry along all the
straight edges.
61
Look 5 is composed of a
cropped shirt with a satin
band and adorned with
fringe. The intention is to
showcase the body while
adding embellishments to
draw attention to
movement. It is paired with
transparent pants decorated
with golden costume
jewelry.
Look 5
62
Look 6
Look 6 features a jumpsuit that
plays with diagonal cuts and
transparencies. It is paired with
a cream-colored jacket to create
an intriguing contrast.
Look 7
63
This design reconfigures the
traditional suit by replacing the
pants with a skirt. It adds unique
touches to the classic suit jacket,
aligning with the preferences of
our user.
64
Look 8
Finally, we have an innovative look that transforms the
traditional shirt by incorporating unique cuffs, closure
systems, and different textiles. The silhouette is oversized,
while still maintaining a sleek and refined look for the male
body.
65
La toile
During the manufacturing
process, the highest quality
standards were maintained, with
careful attention to every detail.
From the functional elements to
the intricate process of
embellishments, special care was
taken to ensure the precise
execution of pleats, fringed
edges, and other intricate details
in each piece.
The chosen look was number 8.
The pattern was created and cut
using a ecru fabric to analyze
the silhouettes, fit, and
adjustments of the garments.
Decisions were made to enhance
the shapes and structure of the
pieces, ensuring a refined final
result.
Confection
The final result was in line with the proposal, providing a close fit to the body and
showcasing the stylization of the male form, creating a unique and innovative
silhouette. The added value of each step in the process is evident in both garments,
highlighting the attention to detail and craftsmanship.

Introduction
This project focuses on a luxury
resort line for the vacation and
summer season, aiming for
comfort and versatility for every
occasion. It takes inspiration
from a very literal event, such as
sunsets, abstracting their shapes,
silhouettes, and particularly
working with color to visually
convey comfort, flow, and
relaxation. It is designed for
urban women who take
vacations in beach or tropical
areas, aged between 25 and 30
years old.
Research
Concept
"Vivir la vida" is a concept that emerges from sunsets,
symbolizing that all the beauty and splendor of a day has a
unique ending each day, much like the sunset represents the end
of life. The sunset is seen as a moment when one truly takes
control to live life to the fullest. It is the moment where you
witness the end, but also hold onto hope for the satisfaction
reflected in comfort and the tranquility of a well-lived life. It
embodies the warmth, the heat of the last breath, the ephemeral
nature of life and sunsets, and the only pleasure that everyone
shares: death.
It is understood that sunsets are a moment when,
due to the Earth's rotation, we perceive the sun
as setting on the horizon. This phenomenon
creates a reflection and refraction of sunlight,
allowing us to witness the undulating forms on
the surface of the sea and a mesmerizing gradient
in the sky. During different times of the year,
sunsets offer an array of unimaginable colors,
such as reds, pinks, and purples, reflected on the
surface of the sea or in the clouds.
This will be reflected in the lightness, versatility, and fluidity of
the designs, creating continuity and waves. Warmth will be
conveyed through color, incorporating gradients. The ephemeral
aspect will be represented through iridescent colors and
materials, while the pleasure will be found in the comfort of the
garments.

Supplies
For the bags and shoes in the collection, the
decision was made to use 100% bovine leather, a
non-woven material, with different finishes in
textures and shines to create contrasts like
sunsets.
The lining is made of 100% polyester, a flat
woven fabric, satin.
Metal hardware is used for high-quality finishes
in a gold color.
84
This collection of accessories
features gradient prints
inspired by sunsets, using
saturated pinks, oranges, and
warm yellows to evoke the
spectacular light displays of
sunsets.
However, since our target
profile appreciates classic
structures, we decided to
create localized prints on the
pattern pieces of the bags
and shoes.
Prints
We can identify double
gradients, concentric
gradients, with different
tones and ranging from light
to dark.
Sketching
85
Understood. You are managing conventional and traditional
silhouettes, creating different lines for different markets. One
line is directed towards conceptual design, where there is a more
mature exploration of design. Another line is more appealing to
the market, where it fuses with the traditional while avoiding
radical changes. Lastly, there is a line targeted towards the
masses, focusing on classic styles but with a personal touch.
For the creation of the garments, we drew inspiration from the shadows, waves, and
reflections of the sun on the sea at different times. We took the silhouette of a
profiled foot and played with shape to create a collage and abstract the forms. As for
textures, we aim for something neat and detailed, printing the sunset gradients on
the accessories.
86
Platinum Line
This line consists of two
handbags and two pairs of
shoes. We used two typologies:
the Saddle bag and the Clutch.
For the shoes, we wanted to
incorporate a vacation and
summer context, so we
adapted the design to resemble
loafers.
87
Look 1
The gradients and iridescence
take the spotlight in the
accessories, as the undulating
shapes complement the colors
of the sunset and create a
unique and authentic piece.
88
89
90
Look 2
For this look, we considered
that moment when vacations
reach their peak, and
nightlife becomes popular in
the summer and tropical
areas. We aimed to create an
elegant and functional piece
for a night out, such as a
clutch with multiple pockets,
along with comfortable flat
shoes for the entire night.
We kept in mind that colors
play a prominent role during
the night, and incorporated
them accordingly.
Argenti Line
Similarly to the previous
collection, we decided to
include two types of bags: Mini
bags and Bucket bags. As for the
shoes, we opted for sling bags
for the more daring women who
enjoy height, and flip flops for
the pool and beach activities.
91
Look 3
92
For this bag, we wanted to
incorporate the circular shape
that is inspired by the sun with
all its colors reflecting on the
surface of the sea and sand.
As for the shoes, we decided to
use gradients to create an
optical illusion of height.
93
94
Look 4
The gradients in the
bucket bag create a
gentle sunset effect that
is pleasing to the eye.
As for the shoes, we used
wave-like patterns with
the typical sunset colors
of pink, orange, and
yellow, resembling
clouds and ocean waves.
95
Cuprum Line
Finally, this line reflects
functionality and practicality,
with flat shoes for walking in
coastal cities and tote bags to
carry all the essentials such as
sunscreen, a towel in case they
want to go for a swim, a wallet
for shopping, and sunglasses
for sun protection.
The tote bag takes on the
intense colors of the orange
sky and blue sea, combined
with the sandy beach, while
the mules stand out with their
iridescence.
96
97
98
Look 6
We wanted to bring a
beach bag for those who
love the beach and need to
carry everything they need
without worrying. We also
designed a traditional and
attractive silhouette, along
with comfortable mules
with gradient colors to add
height.

Introduction
For this project, the decision
has been made to address a
social issue, which is the
emergence of the "No Gender"
movement and how it is
spreading across all areas of life,
including fashion. The project
aims to challenge the
importance of adhering to
traditional rules of what is
considered appropriate for men
and women. Based on this, the
decision has been made to
redefine the attire for a very
special event in life where
formality and strict etiquette are
expected, namely weddings.
This collection aims to create
genderless wedding dresses by
drawing inspiration from
traditional designs and adapting
each outfit to different female
and male silhouettes, thinking
about the diverse anatomies of
bodies.
Inspiration
Due to the fact that the concept
of weddings as we know them
today originated in the 19th
century, it was decided to select
an artistic movement from that
era. The chosen movement is
Impressionism, which emerged
as a departure from the
predominant aesthetics of the
preceding three centuries.
Impressionism is an art form
that is fresh and aligns with the
modernity of photography. It is
characterized by its ability to
capture beauty and sublimity in
a short span of time, hence its
name, which aims to leave an
impression. In other words, it
represents a revolution in art,
aligning with the proposal of
genderless wedding attire that is
modern and fresh.
Concept
Impressionism offers us the concepts of transience, swiftness,
ephemerality, and delicacy, which can be translated into elements
such as lines, continuity, detail, structure, waves, and curves. We
interpret these elements from Impressionism, an art movement that
grants these qualities upon the consumer and is in harmony with the
most special moments of each individual. This will be translated into
the use of tailoring for the garment's structure. Transience will be
represented through fabrics with sheen and long dresses, swiftness
will be expressed through gathered lines, and delicacy will be
showcased through elaborately embroidered crystal details on cuffs,
shoulders, and hems of the garments.

Sketching
For this process, we
incorporated traditional
elements from wedding dresses,
tailored suits, voluminous
gowns, and veils to adapt them
for both genders while moving
away from uniformity. We also
aimed to accommodate the
anatomies of both genders,
ensuring that the attire is
elegant and suitable for the
occasion. Our goal was to
capture the delicacy and
transience of the event through
the use of embroidery and
textile embellishments.
These garments were conceived with the intention
of embracing tradition while adapting to the new
gender diversities. Additionally, they aim to offer a
range of products that provide to various types of
users. We have encountered users with radical ideas,
still clinging to tradition despite their gender
diversity, while others hold more modern and nontraditional
views. The collection aims to provide to
the diverse preferences and perspectives of
individuals, striking a balance between tradition and
innovation.
120
121
Look 1
The look features a fitted corset
that does not conform strictly to
a feminine or masculine
silhouette. It is paired with a
gathered skirt and a ruffed
shawl that resembles clouds,
extending down to the floor.
The color white is chosen to
symbolize purity and chastity.
This design draws inspiration
from the textures created by
Impressionist artists on canvas,
capturing their ethereal quality
and incorporating it into the
garment.
122
123
Look 2
It is a draped design that
emerges from the shoulder and
cinches at the waist, extending
into a long train at the back.
This style is highly versatile for
both anatomies. It is paired with
traditional trousers, boots
adorned with embroidered
details, and a satin ribbon
accent along the hemline.
Completing the ensemble gloves
and a long veil.
124
125
Look 3
It is a traditional two-piece black suit,
adorned for those who desire something
more traditional yet with a distinctive and
unique twist. The jacket's hemline features a
gathered satin ruffe in white, reminiscent of
dreamy matrimonial clouds. The suit also
includes a cathedral-length train that is
suitable for both body types. The shoulders,
cuffs, and boots are embellished with a
delicate arrangement of pearls and lace.
126
127
Look 4
It is a combination of a tailored suit and
draping elements. The jacket is divided
into two parts, with one side featuring
traditional tailoring and the other side
draped to provide versatility for different
body types. The trousers have a satin
panel on the side, and there are details
on the cuffs and hems of the pants. The
color chosen is a desaturated blue
commonly found in Impressionist
paintings.
128
129
Look 5
This design is a more
experimental and elaborate
mix, featuring a puffed lapel
and adorned half-collar.
Additionally, there is a
peplum at the hem of the
jacket, creating a
monochromatic blend that
emphasizes the fusion of
feminine and masculine
elements. The color palette
balances dark and light tones,
reminiscent of the yin and
yang concept.
130
131
Look 6
This design is a striking fusion of a peplum and a tailored
jacket, featuring a V-neckline and an oversized
experimental lapel that extends beyond the collar, creating
a broader silhouette. There is decorative gathering that
starts at the waist, goes over the shoulder, and flows down
to the floor. The ensemble is completed with black flared
trousers adorned with decorative lace detailing at the hem.
132
Look 7
For clients who are more devoted to tradition,
we aimed to closely follow traditional
elements. The design features a corset that
molds the chest and waist, accompanied by a
full circular skirt with a structure underneath,
such as a crinoline. The neckline is adorned
with decorative rings. The corset is delicately
embroidered with fine crystals, adding
delicate touches to the garment. The goal is to
create smooth and continuous curves, keeping
in mind the principles of design. The
ensemble is completed with some removable
accessories flounced and corrugated train,
and a veil.
134
135
Look 8
A sheath dress with a side slit on the right,
starting from the waist, and embroidered
embellishments on the neckline. The dress
features an asymmetric shape that allows it to
adapt to both body types, maintaining a
monochromatic combination. The neckline is
adorned with charming details, complemented
by a long and flowing veil.
136
Look 9
It is a simpler and traditional look that
wraps around the torso and chest,
accommodating different body types.
This piece is fitted at the back and
extends down to the floor, with a round
skirt that cinches at the waist. It is
complemented by a short veil that is
proportional to the overall length.
138
139
Look 10
It is a combination of a suit and a long dress in gray. The dress features draping on the sleeves,
reaching three-quarters of the way down the shoulder and extending to the floor. The lapels
are closed for a better fit, creating a more closed neckline. The shoulder pads are decorated
with a trim of pearls and lace. The design aims to capture a sense of fluidity and fleetingness,
creating a harmonious look. It is intended to be a versatile design suitable for both genders,
while maintaining elegance and respect for the occasion.
140
141
La toile
The decision was made to go
with look 6 in order to explore
how traditionally feminine
elements can be adapted to male
bodies. The pattern used is a
combination of female and male
silhouettes, aiming for a
balanced design. Tie closures
were chosen to allow for
adjustments to different body
types.
142
For this prototype, it was
decided to create all the final
elements and finishes in order to
showcase and analyze the
finished product.
We can provide an important
approach for both sexes,
regardless of their gender.
