Celebrating all that's brilliant about The Mulberry Bush August 2023
A Warm Welcome Back!
It’s been a Summer of two halves
with many staff away enjoying
their (often grey and wet) summer
holidays. It’s typical that the
heatwave starts as the children go
back to school!
During August, the Burrow and
Auxiliary teams have been hard at
work providing the children with a
lovely Summer Holiday of their
own.
And, there’s the remarkable work
the Facilities and Maintenance
Teams have done. They’ve worked
around the clock and have
performed miracles.
Building works...
They’ll be a full report in the September edition of MB News, detailing all the work that has
been done in the School and the Houses. In the meantime, there’s also been work carried out
at MB3.
Here’s some photos of the newly renovated disabled bathroom, which is now en-suite,
making it far more accessible.
Greetings from Toddington...
The biggest event here during August was the The
Baobab Centre for Young Survivors in Exile coming
for their annual residential week.
Some of these young people have survived
incredible hardships and reached this country after
journeys most of us can’t imagine. They are a
remarkably warm, upbeat and welcoming group.
They fill MB3 with a mix of languages, cultures,
foods and stories and they are very attached to the
site – I didn’t know they set up our fire pit a few
years ago until they told me.
The Hippo (Pablo) is halfway through a makeover
(see the picture) and seems to be doing better
already, although his halfway state is scaring some
people.
We are starting the process of making links with
organisations who can help us develop MB3,
although most people seem to be on holiday still and
it’s slow going.
In September and October we will have nine different groups in residence at MB3 ranging
from the TC Elders to our own induction group. We have started delivering the new
induction residential; the group who were here last week for our first one seemed to think it
was helpful. We are also going to be getting the Ex-pupils Advisory Group together in the
next month or so. If you have anything you’d like to get their input on, please talk to me
about it and we’ll think about how they can be helpful to you.
If you have a use for MB3, please get in touch.
End of term drinks
It feels a long time ago now, but at the end of July, all staff
were invited to end of term drinks at The Black Horse.
A reward for all the amazing work that had happened during
the school year.
