What's Happening on The Weekend September 2023

Spring has arrived! Days have definitely become warmer on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal which means days spent lazing on the beach are back. Whether it's a weekend by the sea or simply spending quality time at home you always want those extra nice comforts that truly make you feel at ease. The 24th of September is Heritage day and most businesses have prepared something extra nice for you to do on the day. Good food, friends and family are the focal point, its a matter of where to go that is the deciding factor! #weekendfun #heritageday

Located on the rim of the Fish River

Canyon, one of Namibia’s top tourist

destinations, Fish River Lodge offers forty

guests breath-taking views directly over the

canyon from sunrise to sunset.

The landscape around the western side of

the canyon is vast, empty and ancient.

Perfect for both solitude and adventure.

Explore the canyon and surrounds by foot,

safari vehicle or mountain bike and

experience the drama of this 500 million

year old geological wonder.

Fish River Lodge – on the edge of eternity.

The unique landscape has provided the

inspiration for the contemporary design of

the Lodge. Dry stone walls, tall windows

and wrap around decks allow views of the

canyon to take priority.

A rim pool providing cool comfort in the hot

summer months also overlooks the canyon,

whilst crackling fireplaces in the main lodge

offer warmth and cosiness in winter. A

platform outside each chalet allows for

outdoor yoga and clerestory windows frame

a myriad stars at night.

The 45,000 hectare Canyon Nature Park is

a sanctuary for Karoo succulent flora where

the Aloe dichotoma, locally known as

Kokerboom, stands sentinel and wildlife,

including the rare Hartman’s zebra, oryx

antelope and ostriches, appear and

disappear in the rocky side canyons.

There are few things so powerful as to wake

up to the splendor of the desert stretching to

the limits of your vision. Tendrils of sunlight

lazily creeping about in preparation for their

day, their primordial existence in sync with

the age of the stones around you. We pride

ourselves on providing luxurious comfort

and rest to all our clients by only using the

best quality linen, 100% cotton towels and

fragrant bathroom amenities.

Inspired by the huts of the ancient peoples

of the Namib, designed, built and

engineered by the owners and founders,

Desert Hills Lodge is certainly a visual

delight. The proprietary designs of the high

grass domes leave one in awe as the eye

journeys across its curved organic surfaces,

without the edges and corners of the

buildings of the daily hustle and bustle of

cities.

Not only do we wish that you enjoy your

sleep and cuisine when visiting Desert Hills

Lodge, but we want you to go back home

invigorated by grand adventure and

exclusive experiences. You can book a

three hour nature drive, including

refreshments, to look at the unique fauna

and flora adapted to desert life in the area,

sun-downers to greet yet another

spectacularly full day or even just hiking

along the mountain trails cut into the

mountains by zebras over centuries.
