This garden landscape, seen from above, shines
with the light of a summer’s day. What began as
a photograph of a view from a window has been
transformed by artist Helen Ballardie through multiple
layers of oil paint into an abstraction; a memory
of a feeling more than a document of reality. Yet the
work also incorporates fragile pressed flowers,
integrated into the painted surface, returning us
to the tangible landscape.
