The Salvador-Purex family had a fun-filled 2023 with many memorable moments.
Our biggest highlight was spending quality time together and travelling as a family
of four for the first time to the Philippines in March. We were also fortunate to
witness Kuya Rodney and Ate Christa tie the knot in Bali. This is where we got to
see and catch up with many of our dear family and friends whom we haven't seen
in a very long time!
Other family milestones included:
- Roicelene finishing Parental Leave and getting a new job
- Danwin graduating with a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and
Safety
- Angelene celebrating her 3rd birthday and learning how to read numbers/
letters
- Mayalene celebrating her 1st birthday and learning to walk and speak
words

Kristen & Phil
Kristen and Phillip got married on April 1st, 2023. They celebrated in Oceanside,
California, surrounded by all their family and friends. They went to Italy for their
honeymoon, taking in all the Renaissance art and sculpture, touring the Roman architecture,
visiting the Vatican, relaxing at the Amalfi coast, and of course eating
all the pizza, pasta, and wine they could ever dream of. They even took a cooking
class (highly recommended!)
They look forward to traveling next year and accomplishing their goals now as
husband and wife.
Jun & Marivic
Jenna (26), JJ (24), Matthew (20)
2022 was a tough and challenging year for our entire Purex Family alone,
But 2023 brought us blessings all around, with celebrations, achievements, and a couple of
milestones.
Three years after the world shut down, so much has changed.
Special occasions that were put to halt, now have taken place.
This year was full of travel, weddings, and events,
To catch up on all the missed opportunities, the postponements everyone wanted to prevent.
After 14 years in the making, our eldest niece Kristen finally tied the knot.
Part 1 started with an intimate church wedding, with the immediate family on the spot.
A simple ceremony in March, uniting the lovebirds, Phil and Kris.
All in attendance with the exception of OJ, who we all still truly miss.
Part 2 was filled with enjoyment that took place on April Fool’s Day,
A beautiful day to remember in Oceanside for a weekend getaway.
The ambience, the venue, the decor - a complete work of art
Happy memories once again made with the hashtag - #KrisPhilsMyHeart.
Our first international trip in June was traveling to the UK,
With Marivic competing with other Golden Girls around the world who don’t play.
She placed Top 5 in the World, amongst ladies who were empowering and not at all snobby,
Where fitness and bodybuilding is a lifestyle and no longer a hobby.
From Manchester, England - a short flight to Lisbon, Portugal was the next stop.
Where our friend’s holy matrimony took place in a historical villa, above a castletop.
Forte de Cruz Venue had breathtaking views of the sea.
Cocktail at sunset, dinner in the evening, surrounded by Palm and tamarind trees.
The month of July was filled with so many days where more memories were made.
First on the agenda was a trip to Singapore to start our escapade.
Unlike Crazy Rich Asians, we were more like tourists during the day,
Exploring Botanic Gardens, Merlion Park, and Gardens by the Bay.
We walked, took Uber, rode the MRT to get to all the attractions,
And ate at a Hawker locale which filled our tummies to satisfaction.
Our last night was spent fine dining at Lavo inside Marina Bay Sands,
Indulging in Italian cuisine, before our morning flight to the next Asian land.
Bali, Indonesia was the next destination on our list,
Another family wedding AND a tropical vacation - something we definitely didn’t want to miss!
Reuniting with family from the US and Australia, gathering together overseas,
With planned activities - touring, rafting, shopping, relaxing and getting ready to
#MeetTheMallaris.
It was a magical day with so much laughter, fun and splendor,
The entire week of excursions leading up to the vows was truly a grand occasion to remember!
All the details, organization, and intricate planning,
Made the entire event that much more enchanting!
To end our Asia Tour was a long awaited visit to Marivic’s parents,
Back to the Motherland, excited to spend quality time and be in their presence.
A surprise getaway to Palawan at Princesa Island Resort and Spa,
A gift for them to relax and unwind - from their only daughter and son-in-law.
August through October additional weddings had transpired,
Getting all dressed up to the nines - November brought a change to our attire.
Jun and Marivic’s 29th anniversary to Whistler, Canada was a nice change in scenery,
Despite the cold, rain, and upcoming snow - stunning nature was present with visible greenery.
Now, to close with an update about our three grown kids,
Jenna completed her 3000 clinical hours and often travels off the grid.
Soon obtaining her LCSW license and advancing in her profession,
She’s living her best life and traveling has been her obsession.
Jj continues to elevate in his God given talent and skills,
Custom fabrication, installation, audio, hydraulics, and full builds.
Doing what he loves the most, with his gifts and expertise,
For a glimpse of his projects, follow him @Lowstyles.co on IG.
Matthew started his Junior year and attending San Diego State,
We can’t express enough of our gratitude and all that we appreciate.
He’s often served breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which he undeniably enjoys
Living under their roof, being spoiled by his Lola Evy and Lolo Tikboy.
Because he still enjoys what he does, unsure if Jun’s retiring anytime soon.
It’s still Auto Innovation, golfing, bowling, or just relaxing on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Co-fur grandparenting duties with Jj’s pitbull, Licks
Playing tug-o-war, prepping his meals, taking him out for walks is part of the mix.
As we wrap up this year, we continue to abundantly live, love, pray, and soar.
Finishing off 2023 with a grateful heart, here’s sending you joy and cheers to 2024!

Chloe (9), Ryan (7), Cassie (3)
This year was full of kid activities and family trips. Chloe had a lot of fun making
friends and learning soccer skills with her AYSO soccer team, the Shooting Stars.
She improved as the season went on and scored goals in 2 of the games! Ryan
began team sports in the summer where he joined the Beach Ballers with Kuya
Bradley and Coach Ninong Johnny. Similarly, Ryan improved as the season went on
and proved to be a great defensive player on the court. The Beach Ballers brought
home a trophy and won the Silver Elite Championship! In the fall, Ryan started
playing soccer with his AYSO team, the Fireballs. Ryan’s speed and quick feet made
him one of the stronger players on his team. Our charming little one, Cassie, had a
big year also. She was officially potty trained in the summer and started going to
preschool in August. By October she was fully acclimated and has grown even
more with her colors, numbers, letters, writing, coloring & painting skills.
Aside from kid activities, we went on a handful of memorable family trips. Starting
with the kids’ first trip to Las Vegas over Spring Break. They were disappointed by
the ‘arcade’ slot machines they couldn’t touch and confused why the Eiffel Tower
was in Nevada and not Paris. In April, Kristen & Phil’s wedding in San Diego and in
May, we took a trip to Borrego Springs and enjoyed driving around to see the large
metal sculptures in the dessert. We closed out our family vacations with Rodney &
Christa’s wedding in Bali! We were able to go to Japan for a few days before the
wedding and COVeniently extended our stay in Bali after the wedding. Throughout
2023, we enjoyed celebrating life and being with our friends and family.
Brandon & Maca
2022 and 2023 were amazing years for us! Maca and I bought a house in San
Diego and moved in March 2022. Silvia also moved in with us in August 2022 and
we had our first child... our labradoodle, Charlie.
Brandon started a new job at Amazon Web Services in Oct 2022 and Maca at
Design Therapeutics in May 2023. Maca also got her US citizenship in August
2023.
In March 2023, we were finally able to go on our long-awaited honeymoon in Bora
Bora. It was beautiful! Of course we travelled as much as possible revisiting
familiar places like Madrid, Vegas, Honolulu, Temecula, Valle de Guadalupe and
new areas like Bali, Japan, France, Portugal, Denmark, Tulum, Cancun, Sedona,
Paso Robles, Denver, and Nashville.
In 2022, heaven gained three new angels that will always be in our hearts. Love
you Lola, Auntie, and Dad
We're looking forward to 2024 and the exciting times ahead. Merry Christmas and
Happy New Year family!
Love,
BAM

Audio (3), Indigo (7 mo)
This past year has been a pretty eventful one for our little family. We celebrated five
years of marriage and two years living in Long Beach. Charity and Dereck both
started new positions at work - Charity is now in a home based primary care position
as she celebrated her 10th year with the VA and Dereck is now the Business
Development Analyst for the City of West Hollywood.
Audio started pre-school this year at Little Angels Montessori which is just a short
walk from us. It was a little intimidating at first, but as he made friends and became
comfortable with his teachers, it has gotten easier and more fun to go to school. His
current interests (aka obsessions) are all things Paw Patrol, emergency/rescue and
construction vehicles, playing with his DJ controller from Tita Sheilah, playing in the
sand at the playground, and of course we can't forget his beloved Mickey Mouse
bucket hat that he wears every day.
And last but certainly not least, our biggest and most exciting event we had this year
was when Audio was promoted to Kuya Audio as we welcomed our newest addition,
Ms. Indigo Sol on April 19, 2023. Indigo loves to laugh, smile, and jump up and down
(just like her kuya did when he was a baby). Her current interests are milk, new
found solid foods, baths, Ms. Rachel, laughing at her Kuya being weird, listening to
Mommy sing and when Daddy lifts her in the air and turns her into a clock.
We look forward to 2024 as a new family of four!
Alyssa & Aryan
Ayari (1)
Everything is new and exciting with a baby/toddler! 2023 was packed with so
many great memories (that Ayari likely will never remember haha) and lots of
family time. Some notables include:
-Ayari's Baptism
-Ayari's 1st Birthday
-Trips to Big Sur, Oregon/Washington, Los Cabos, Solvang, Sequoia, and San
Francisco/Bay Area
-Visits to the Aquarium of the Pacific, Monterey Aquarium, Sea World,
Disneyland, Knotts, San Diego Zoo, San Francisco Zoo
Even though she won't remember, we love creating these new traditions and
rediscovering the world through her eyes. Every day is memorable!

Zion (4)
Happy Holidays from the Bolado Family! Our year started with lots of snowy road trips
and snowboarding in Mammoth, Tahoe (Palisades) and Utah (Brianhead, Snowbird,
Solitude, Brighton). Zion started going up the lift with us this season, so we were so
excited that we could finally snowboard down the mountain together as a family--so
proud of her!
During the spring and early summer, we celebrated Zion's 4th birthday in Legoland,
learned how to ride a bike without training wheels, and graduated from preschool! Our
summers were filled with lots of camping trips, Disneyland, farm visits, road trips,
biking, surfing, and a trip to Bali for Rodney and Christa's Wedding!
Zion started TK at Leal Elementary School at the end of summer and we have been
loving all the activities and Theatre Arts Program opportunities that they offer. Zion
performed in their school's Diwali celebration, was Mowgli in their Jungle Book musical,
and had her first audition and was casted in her school's Peter Pan spring musical.
We started our fall with a fall foliage east coast trip and went leaf peeping throughout
Massachusetes, New Hampshire, and Maine. The rest of fall was filled with soccer (Go
Team Watermelons!), music concerts, Halloween costumes (our favorite time of year!),
and her recent new activity, Brazilian jiu jitsu at Conde Koma.
This winter we plan to head back to Banff in Canada to ring in the New Year and start
another season of snowboarding. It's been a fun, full year and so thankful that we get
to end the year celebrating Christmas with our Purex family!
Rodney & Christa
WE’RE MARRIED!
Bali Wedding
Christa is officially part of the Purex Family! After 12 years of being together we finally got
married in Bali! The pinnacle of our year was undoubtedly our wedding. Despite two
postponements, we finally said our vows in the presence of our loved ones. We planned an
entire week of festivities: 12 events, 7 days, 93 guests, for 19 villas. There was golfing, ATVing,
monkey forest tours, beach clubs, massages, white water rafting, and lots of sight-seeing!
Everything went off without a hitch, and we couldn't be happier.
Bonus Wedding at the Skyline Rooftop
We had a second wedding reception at the Skyline Rooftop in Cerritos to celebrate with
family and friends who could not make it to Bali. 130 people came and we premiered the
phot and video memories captured from our wedding in Bali. All cooking, catering, and
decoration was done by the groom and bride!
Other Highlights
Bachelor and Bachelorette Extravaganza
Summer brought unforgettable celebrations as we embarked on our bachelor and
bachelorette parties in Mexico and Palm Springs. Rodney indulged in paintball, tacos, and
tequila with his closest friends, while Christa enjoyed a weekend of luxury with hot Cheetos
served by manservants.
Mexican Escapades
Celebrations with our friends brought us to Mexico multiple times throughout the year, first
to Cancun and later to Baja Mexico. Tacos and tequila were, of course, a staple during our
visits.
Hello Japan
Before our wedding in Bali, we immersed ourselves in the beauty of Japan. From relishing
sushi to buying authentic Japanese kitchen knives, it was a cultural experience we'll forever
cherish.
Honeymoon in Bali
Our honeymoon in Bali was a well-deserved time to relax and unwind – daily massages, a
private villa, tea tasting, and Michelin star dining (inside a sea cave!). We even acquired our
first fine art piece and, in a surprising turn of events, foiled a drug smuggling plot and
prevented Christa's younger brother from landing in Balinese prison. Phew!
Familymoon at Big Bear
After our global travels, we needed a vacation from our vacation, so we took a moment to
unwind in the serene forest scenery of Big Bear, with lots of hikes, which allowed our big,
black, scary German Shepherd, Dexter to get over his fear of bridges. He’s a better guard dog
now.
Downtime Hobbies
Rodney built a custom-made arcade complete with his own printed circuit board and
software which allows him to load up to 1500 classic arcade games on his custom interface.
Christa also acquired her first firearms this year and is practicing to be Christa Wick in case
someone kidnaps Dexter.
Peaches in Georgia
We visited Georgia and saw the only aquarium in North America that is home to manta rays
and whale sharks. We celebrated Oktoberfest in Helen and enjoyed the wonderful forests in
Georgia during the fall.
More Camping
We embraced the great outdoors with another camping trip in Big Bear, which allowed us to
try out our new home defense guns, rifles, and shotguns. Bang bang!
Christa's New Chapter
The year concluded with Christa starting a new job! Her work is now completely remote,
eliminating the three-hour commutes and allowing her to spend more quality time with
family.
Wishing you all love, good health, and prosperity in the coming year!
With love and lots of shots,
Christa & Rodney Mallari
