STAY on Sunday
St Andrew's Youth
The STAY on Sunday youth only met once in
November as we remembered those who had given
their lives in war on Sunday 12 November at the
annual Remembrance service.
We continued our water theme and looked at
how Moses didn’t drink any water or eat any food
for 40 days while he was up Mount Sinai receiving
the 10 commandments from God.
We thought about where else we see the number
40 in the Bible and what it represents. It rained for
40 days and nights when Noah built the Ark and
God flooded the earth.
For 40 years the Israelites wandered around in
the desert before reaching the promised land.
Jesus spent 40 days and nights in the
wilderness, was tempted by Satan, before starting
his ministry of miracles and healing.
We worked out that the number 40 often
represents a time of testing and trial followed by a
time of blessing and fruitfulness.
STAY on Sunday also gave over 10 bags of items to
the Woodley Food Bank (picture right) and we used
a reverse Advent calendar to help guide the things
to buy. This was a great way of getting the youth
to think about those who have less and those who
need our love and support at this time of year.
STAY at Reading Youth Event, Wycliffe Church
Following the successful Reading Youth Event last June at KVFC, the Reading Youth Wo
young people again for an amazing night of ‘Life’s Big Questions’ with the guys from Re
from London. We also had great fun playing opening games, including; head, shoulders
games master calls heads, shoulders etc, and when they shout shoes the first player to g
STAY on Friday
At our weekly youth club
we gave the young people a
suggestion box and boy, did we
get some cracking ideas about
what they would like to have
on a Friday night . . .
Floodlights, Astro pitch,
go kart track and boxing ring.
All we need to do is get the
funding and we are sorted. I’m
obviously joking!
We did also get some
very practical and helpful
suggestions such as; timed
turns on the PS5 & Xbox, a
wider selection of games, more
organised games by the leaders
and savoury snacks at the tuck
shop.
We also had some final
thoughts to provoke their
thinking, including:
'I am me. And that should be
enough, it always has been
enough. I was the one who didn't get tha
writer. I'm a person. And a good one at t
realest people get treated the worst, but
you that' - Tupac
