AGRICULTURAL REAL ESTATE ECA REVIEW HANNA/CORONATION/STETTLER, AB January 4'24 7 OBITUARY Trained in fire services David Eric Tomkinson passed away Dec. 1, 2023 at Bashaw Meadows care center in Bashaw, Alta. into the loving arms of his Saviour Jesus Christ. David is survived by his loving wife Erica of 48 years, his son Jimmy (Simone) of Courtenay B.C., daughter Barbara (Bill) of Nova Scotia, two stepsons, Stan (Karen) of Arizona, USA, Dale (Shelley) of Sardis, B.C. and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his brothers Doug (Marlene), Denis (Lynn) and Tom (Mini) all of Toronto, Ont.; sisters Donna (Bill) of North Carolina, USA and Darlene (Ed) of Prince George, B.C. He was predeceased by his parents, his son, his stepdaughter and a brother. David served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1960 - 1976. He was trained in fire services and retired in 2016 as fire chief from the Mirror Fire Department after an 11-year career. He was a certified gas fitter and plumber in Abbotsford B.C. and Nunavut. David enjoyed golfing with Erika during the summer and warmer months. David and Erika attended Tomkinson the Mirror Alliance Church and he was active in his faith until his passing. A memorial service and interment will be held in 2024. BYEMOOR 4-H BEEF CLUB Fundraising auctions successful by Tulsa Smith, club reporter The Byemoor 4-H Beef Club online fundraising auction was held the last week in November and was our most successful fundraiser to date. The support is greatly appreciated and helps our members attend camps, develop leadership opportunities and get educational support for our club. On Dec. 2 our club packed and handed out candy bags for Byemoor Santa days which was followed by a general meeting. Halkirk breakfast with Santa was the next day and several members attended to help cook and serve breakfast. Our Christmas party will be held on Jan. 3 and Regional Fun Day will be in Stettler on Jan.6. Our club is doing a battery fundraiser throughout the year so if you have any old car or tractor batteries you would like to be rid of and donate to our club, please call any one of our members and we will arrange to collect them.
