Excellent ServiceExcellent StewardshipOperations Division Annual Report - FY23To our PartnersSean ChildersAssociate Vice Presidentfor OperationsWhat a banner year this has been forthe Texas Tech community and theOperations Division! The Centennialexperience has resonated throughoutcampus and several Operations Divisionteams were honored to assist withvarious events and celebrations. Whetherit was planning, setup, cleanup, parking,grounds beautification, setting upelectrical needs, stringing lights, handingout keys or even the creation and printingof Centennial ID cards, the division wasprivileged to be able to assist with theuniversity’s historic celebration.Even as Centennial excitement wasthe highlight across campus, theOperations Division was mindful of itsmission of providing “Excellent Service,Excellent Stewardship” to the TexasTech community, campus and partners.This shared vision aided in creatingmany points of excellence throughoutthe year. Working with campus partners,we developed and created spaceswhere students would feel engagedand supported in their educationaljourney. We continued renovations andconstruction of classrooms, class labsand research areas. We worked withcampus leadership on the realignmentof departments. We resurfaced parkinglots and rebuilt Canton Avenue. We alsosupported the Lubbock Communitythrough programs with LubbockIndependent School District, the Shriner’sChildren Hospital of Texas and aback-to-school supply drive.The division continued its focus onproviding a safe campus with theinstallation of a new weather siren, as wellas new security cameras at largely visitedareas on campus. Our commitment toefficiency and sustainability led us toconduct multiple outdoor lighting auditsand implement the installation of LEDlighting in several locations around TexasTech. The division also undertook a majortree-planting initiative in partnership withUniversity Student Housing to replaceolder and weather-damaged trees whichfurther enhanced the overall landscapeon campus.I am honored to share that GroundsMaintenance, the Office of Sustainabilityand several Custodial Servicesemployees were nationally recognized bytheir peers this year for their outstandingcontributions to their respectiveindustries. I know that all division teammembers are fully dedicated to theirareas and this serves to bring morerecognition to not only the division, butalso the university.I am grateful for all the team memberswithin the Operations Division, partnersaround campus and the city for theopportunities they bring that allow thedivision to be a part of elevating theRed Raider experience. Knowing we aremembers of Texas Tech University andbeing given the opportunity to serve, weaccept the charge President Schovanecput forth during his 2023 State of theUniversity address and will “continue towork together to address the changingneeds of our world, to broaden ourimpact and to always strive for honor.”Wreck ‘Em!“I am grateful for all the team members within the OperationsDivision, partners around campus and the city for the opportunitiesthey bring that allow the division to be a part of elevating theRed Raider experience. ”3
