Due to the multitude of paint systems for wooden windows a general statement regarding
adhesion properties or compatibility is not possible. Individual preliminary tests are required.
A small amount of a splitting product is given off during vulcanization that must not
entrapped by stacking or packing sealed windows/ doors earlier than 24 hours after sealing.
Otherwise there is a risk of a discolouration of the painting.
It is not recommended to overpaint the sealant. OTTOSEAL ® S 110 is compatible with PVB
foils. For laminated glass units with resins please contact our technical service department.
For sealing butt joints between insulating glass units with UV-resistant secondary edge seal
based on silicone (e.g. angled glazing, glass facades etc.) we recommend
OTTOSEAL ® S 7. If the secondary edge sealing is based on another sealant system please
contact our technical service department.
Just apply the sealant in well ventilated rooms, ensure good ventilation during application
and vulcanisation. Please note that smoke from cigarettes or similar substances present in
the surroundings may discolour the sealant.
OTTOSEAL ® S 110 is physiologically harmless and indifferent after curing.
Please refer to our OTTOSEAL ® range for food and drinking water applications.
OTTOSEAL ® S 110 is not suitable for bonding mirrors – use our special adhesive
OTTOSEAL ® S 16.
OTTOSEAL ® S 110 is not suitable for sealing of acrylic glass or polycarbonate twin wall
sheets - use our special silicone OTTOSEAL ® S 72.
Direct contact between the sealant and the following plasticizer emitting materials should be
avoided: butyl rubber, EPDM, neoprene, foam materials, bituminous coatings, etc.
OTTOSEAL ® S 110 must not be used for sealing natural stones like marble, granite, etc. –
use our special sealant OTTOSEAL ® S 70.
If using smoothing agent remove the remaining water streaks on the adjoining surfaces
immediately after sealing. If the surfaces are cleaned at a later date, permanent streaks may
remain.
For underwater applications, e.g. swimming pools, we recommend OTTOSEAL ® S 18.
Please refer to the relevant technical data sheet.
For sealing and bonding of aquaria constructions – use our special silicone
OTTOSEAL ® S 28.
The required vulcanisation time prolongs with increasing thickness of the silicone. One-part
silicones must not be used for bonding applications where the silicone is supposed to be
spread all over the surface. Such applications require a special design – please contact our
technical department. One-part silicones are not designed to be used in layers of more than
15 mm.
1 For underwater seals e.g. swimming pools we recommend OTTOSEAL® S 18 and OTTO Primer 1218 on mineralic
surfaces like concrete, tiles, tile adhesive etc. respectively OTTOSEAL® S 70 on natural stones.
2 With OTTOSEAL® S 110 transparent pretreatment with OTTO Primer 1217, on film coated plastics always
pretreatement with OTTO Primer 1217
3 The reaction of OTTOSEAL® S 110 with non-ferrous metals, e.g. chopper, brass, etc. is possible. Curing should not
take place in confined spaces.
4 OTTO Primer 1225 for CPL Laminat from Co. Egger, Resopal from Co. Resopal, Duropal from Co. Pfleiderer,
Homapal from Co. Homapal, Getalit from Co. Westag + Getalit. With all other melamine formaldehyde resins: R.
Please not, that the use of the recommended primer on the mentioned substrates improves the adhesion of the
products.
5 The reaction of OTTOSEAL® S 110 with non-ferrous metals e.g. chopper, brass, etc. is possible. Curing should not
