<strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Eggers</strong> <strong>History</strong><br />

<strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Eggers</strong> is a military base in<br />

Kabul, <strong>Afghanistan</strong>. It is located near the US<br />

Embassy and the President of <strong>Afghanistan</strong>'s<br />

Palace. The camp is named after Capt. Daniel<br />

W. <strong>Eggers</strong>, a US soldier from the 1st Battalion,<br />

3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort<br />

Bragg, North Carolina, who was killed by an<br />

improvised explosive device (IED) along with<br />

three other soldiers on 29 May 2004 near<br />

Kandahar.<br />

The NTM‐A is a very young command,<br />

born on 12 October 2009. It achieved full<br />

operational command status on 12 November<br />

2009. LTG General William Caldwell, IV (U.S.<br />

Army), currently leads the Command. NTM‐A<br />

is a training command that was created to<br />

recruit, train and develop the Afghan<br />

National Security Force (ANSF). The ANSF<br />

is comprised of the various police and army<br />

forces of <strong>Afghanistan</strong>.<br />

NTM-A <strong>Mission</strong> Statement:<br />

"NTM-A/CSTC-A, in coordination with <strong>NATO</strong><br />

nations and partners, international organizations,<br />

donors and NGOs (non-governmental<br />

organizations); supports GIRoA (Government of<br />

the Islamic Republic of <strong>Afghanistan</strong>) as it<br />

generates and sustains the ANSF (Afghan<br />

National Security Force), develops leaders, and<br />

establishes enduring institutional capacity to<br />

enable accountable Afghan-led security."<br />

Kuwait - Ali-Al-Saleem <strong>Afghanistan</strong> - Bagram<br />

1. When you arrive at Ali-Al-Saleem you will be meet<br />

by personnel stationed there and given several briefings.<br />

2. Report to the Passenger Service clerk and sign up<br />

for a military or civilian contract aircraft flight to<br />

<strong>Afghanistan</strong>. You must present your CAC card and<br />

orders to sign up for military airlift. Activity duty<br />

military personnel and cargo have priority over civilian<br />

contractors. Be sure to note the “SHOW TIME” for the<br />

next flight to <strong>Afghanistan</strong>. You must show up for the<br />

manifest calls for every flight to <strong>Afghanistan</strong> at tent #1.<br />

You will not be notified over the PA system of roll calls<br />

times. There is a message board with tentative flight<br />

times. There will be a roster posted in tent #1 that list<br />

destinations, your name, and your roster number. If the<br />

person ahead of you is not there they move to the next<br />

name on the list; you will not be notified your name was<br />

called if you are not there.<br />

3. The billeting office is located near the air terminal.<br />

Report to the billeting office to obtain transient billeting.<br />

You can expect to remain at Ali Al Saleem Air Base for<br />

a few days. THEY DO NOT PROVIDE LINEN.<br />

Note: Use the baggage storage area in Tent<br />

Papa-1 while at Ali Al Saleem Air Base.<br />

4. The base has an Exchange Service, Morale Welfare<br />

and Recreation (MWR) activities with internet access,<br />

AT&T phone booths to inform your family of your safe<br />

arrival. You can also call your family from a DSN line<br />

by dialing: (312) 560-1110 and asking the military<br />

operator to assist you in placing a morale and welfare<br />

call to your friends or family members.<br />

5. While at Ali Al Saleem Airbase, you are encourage<br />

to contact the directorate you will be assigned to inform<br />

them of your travel status, projected arrival time and<br />

projected arrival location in <strong>Afghanistan</strong>. The CTSC-A/<br />

NTM-A LNO DSN is 442-0238 and is located in Tent<br />

#2.<br />

1. When you arrive at Bagram you will be meet by<br />

personnel stationed there and given several briefings.<br />

2. Report to the Passenger Service clerk and sign up<br />

for a military or civilian contract aircraft flight to Kabul.<br />

Do not sign up for a flight to anywhere other than Kabul.<br />

You must present your CAC card to sign up for military<br />

airlift. Activity duty military personnel and cargo have<br />

priority over civilian contractors. Be sure to note the<br />

“SHOW TIME” for the next flight to Kabul. You must<br />

show up for the manifest calls for every flight to<br />

<strong>Afghanistan</strong> at the PAX terminal. You will not be<br />

notified over the PA system of roll calls times. There is a<br />

message board with tentative flight times. There will be<br />

a roster posted that list destinations, your name, and your<br />

roster number. Make sure you report to the PAX<br />

terminal for all manifest calls for Kabul. There are also<br />

STOL flights that fly more frequently than the standard<br />

military flight and are authorized for your use.<br />

Report to the billeting office to obtain transient billeting.<br />

Note: Use the baggage storage area outside of the<br />

PAX terminal. This area is unsecure and PPE<br />

should not be stored there.<br />

4. The USO is located across the street from the PAX<br />

terminal and can be utilized while awaiting you flight.<br />

There are phones located in the rear of the USO. They<br />

also offer beverages and snacks. Movies are played<br />

throughout the day and is never closed. The PX is approximately<br />

a ten minute walk from the PAX terminal.<br />

5. While at the Bagram airfield, you are encourage to<br />

contact the directorate you will be assigned to inform<br />

them of your travel status, projected arrival time and<br />

projected arrival location in Kabul. The CTSC-A/<br />

NTM-A LNO’s contact number is Cell: 070-518-8614.<br />

<strong>Afghanistan</strong> - Kabul<br />

1. When you arrive at Kabul you will be escorted to<br />

the PAX terminal.<br />

2. To arrange transportation to <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Eggers</strong> there<br />

is a signup roster for the shuttle that make<br />

approximately two runs a day. The time for the next<br />

scheduled pickup will be on the roster.<br />

3. The billeting office is located in the PAX<br />

terminal. You must go out the arrival doors and go in<br />

the departure doors. Once you leave the arrival side of<br />

the PAX terminal to cannot get back in. Ensure you<br />

have your baggage with you. BILLETING DOES<br />

NOT PROVIDE LINEN.<br />

Note: Use the baggage storage area outside of the<br />

PAX terminal. This area is unsecure and PPE<br />

should not be stored there.<br />

4. The baggage storage area is located to your right<br />

as you go out the arrival doors.<br />

5. While at the KIA airfield, you are encourage to<br />

contact the directorate you will be assigned to inform<br />

them of your travel status.<br />
