Künstler Statement

„Wie nutzen wir unsere Macht?

Was mich bewegt, sind die inneren Fragen, die komplexesten Begegnungen - diejenigen mit

uns selbst: Als Mensch und als Teil unserer Gesellschaft. Das Ringen um unsere Verantwortung,

die Reflexion und die Selbstgespräche unseres Menschseins, um Werte, Abwägen und

Liegenlassen, Wege und Begegnungen, Öffnen und Verschränken, Lieben und Ablehnen.

Wenn ich sehe, wie unser Planet im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes nach Luft ringt und unser

Umgang mit der Natur ausbeutend ist, kann ich nur das Wenige geben, was ich tun kann, um

dieses Ringen, den Kampf gegen das Ersticken, zu unterstützen. Dabei spüre ich eine ständige

Suche nach dem Unerforschten: das Neue, das Zarte, das Fremde nimmt als Möglichkeit immer

mehr Raum und Zeit in meiner Malerei ein. Ich arbeite nach einem Prinzip der

Verschmelzung von Ideen und Linien, ich wünsche mir eine ständige Offenheit für Neues, das

Unbekannte zu probieren, unerforschte Wege zu gehen, Wege zu kombinieren, nichts zu verwerfen,

sondern auszuprobieren. Symbolisch für unsere Gesellschaft, die nach Meinung des

Künstlers auch keinen Weg mehr ablehnen darf, wenn unsere Welt gerettet werden soll, wenn

wir aufhören wollen, die Ozeane mit Müll zu füllen.

Meine lebensphilosophischen Grundsätze sind so sehr auch die Grundlage meiner Arbeit wie

andersherum.

Inspiration ist immer. Überall begegnen uns Menschen, Stimmungen, Nachrichten, BILDER. So

sind Themen meiner Arbeiten menschliche und philosophische, gesellschaftspolitische

Fragestellungen und Überlegungen. So unser Umgang mit Àndersartigen´, die Definition

überhaupt von Àndersartigkeit´, das Zusammenleben der Kreaturen dieser Erde, unser Umgang

mit unserer Welt, Besonderheiten und Alltäglichkeiten, Erlebnisse und Erzählungen

werden zum Sujet meiner Reflexion jeden menschlichen Lebens in der Gestaltung von Bildern,

Texten, Liedern und durchwandelbaren Werken als Räume unterschiedlichster Funktion.

Sprache und Musik spielen in meiner Kunst eine wichtige Rolle wie ein Teppich für meine

Werke: Immer wieder finden Briefe und Fragen, Liedtexte und Gedichte, Verszeilen und alte

Weisheiten ihrenWeg in meine `Letters´ (English Letters: Buchstaben, aber auch Briefe) und

damit in das Gespräch mit den Betrachtern.

Die Verwendung meiner eigenen Werke als Grundlage und in meinen Gemälden ist meine Art

und Weise, meine eigene Beteiligung an dieser Übernutzung zu reflektieren: Ich bin ein Teil

davon. Und Du.

So stellen sich die Fragen, die mich am meisten bewegen, durch meine Arbeit: Wie behandeln

wir unsere Erde? Haben wir noch die Freude und die Möglichkeit, das zu genießen, was wir

so gerne führen möchten? Machen wir, mit unserer Lebensweise genau das, was wir für uns

haben möchten, genau dadurch unmöglich?

Wie gehen wir mit unserer Welt um? Wie nutzen wir unsere Macht?“

COLLAGEN

Micky Fockes Collagen entstehen aus einer Vielzahl gefundener oder weggeworfener, wenig benutzter,

ergo schnell vermüllter, als „überflüssig“ deklarierter Gegenstände und Abfälle. Ihre freundliche Umdeutung

durch Integration in Kunstwerke signalisiert und initiiert die

Option einer neuen Nutzung und arbeitet so an der Frage, wie unsere Welt mit ihrer

Sterblichkeit und Fragilität umgehen will.

PAINTOGRAPHIE

In den Paintographies - Malerei auf Fotografie - interpretiert Micky Focke Szenen aus dem alltäglichen

kollektiven Gedächtnis - festgehalten im WorleWideWeb - sowie aus ihren eigenen Blickwinkeln und

täglichen Bildern, Erlebnissen und Erfahrungen neu.

Micky Focke nutzt die Paintographie auch, um philosophische Fragen der Gegenwart zu diskutieren:

Welchen Umgang mit unserer Welt wollen wir pflegen?

Welche Strukturen wollen wir bewahren, aktivieren, umdeuten?

Die Verzahnung von Fotografie und Malerei löst die klare Trennung zwischen Realität und Traum,

Existenz und Option auf zugunsten einer Öffnung und Erweiterung.

Verflechtung, Überlagerung, Illusion und Erkenntnis können so

neue Wege gehen und Ungeübtes wagen.

GEMÄLDE

Die Ölbilder von Micky Focke spiegeln ihre inneren Fragen wider. Das menschliche Ringen um

Geborgenheit, Befreiung und Liebe, Respekt und Kommunikation, die eigenen Wege, die

Verantwortung für sich selbst als Mitglied einer Gesellschaft: Spiegel der Präsenz

und Transluzenz.

Artists Statement

„How do we use our power?

What moves me are our innermost questions, the most complex encounters: those with ourselves!

As human beings and as part of our society. The struggle for our responsibility, to reflect

and talk to ourselves about our humanity, about values, weighing and letting go, paths and

encounters, opening and entangling, loving and rejecting.

When I see how our planet is literally gasping for air and how our treatment of nature is exploitative,

I can only give what little I can do to support this struggle of nature for their right to

live, the fight against suffocation.

In the process, I feel a constant playful search for the unexplored: the new, the delicate, the

strange takes up more and more space and time in my painting as a possibility. I work according

to a principle of fusion of ideas and lines, I desire a constant openness to the new, to try

the unknown, to go unexplored ways, to combine ways, not to discard anything but to try it

out. Symbolic of our society, which, from my point of view, must also no longer reject any path

if our world is to be saved, if we are to stop filling the oceans with waste.

My life-philosophical principles are as much the basis of my work as the other way around.

I use three different forms in my works:

Paintography (painting on photoprint), collages and classical oil painting.

Inspiration is always there. We encounter people, moods, news, images everywhere. So the

themes of my works are human and philosophical, socio-political questions and considerations

and emerge from a constant overflow of thoughts an pictures.

Thus our dealings with òtherness´ the very definition of òtherness´ in the first place, the coexistence

of the creatures of this earth, our dealings with our world, peculiarities and everyday

occurrences, experiences and narratives become the subject of my reflection on every human

life in the design of images, texts, songs and walk-through works as spaces of the most diverse

function. Language and music play an important role in my art like a carpet for my works:

again and again, letters and questions, song lyrics and poems, lines of verse and ancient wisdom

find their way into my `Letters´ (English Letters: letters but also letters) and thus into the

conversation with the viewers.

Using my own work as a basis and in my paintings as a way of reflecting on my own

participation in this overuse: I am part of it. And you. So the questions that move me the most

pose themselves to the user of my work, the viewer: how do we treat our earth?

Do we still have the joy and the possibility to enjoy what we so much want to have? Do we,

through our way of life, make exactly impossible what we would like to have for ourselves so

much? Precisely because of our way of Life?

How do we treat our world? How do we use our power?“

COLLAGES

Micky Focke‘s collages are created from a multitude of found or discarded, little-used, ergo previously

and quickly littered, declared „surplus“ objects and rubbish. Their friendly reinterpretation through integration

into artworks signals and initiates the option for new use and thus works on the question

of how our world wants to deal with its mortality and fragility.

PAINTOGRAPHY

In her Paintographies - painting on photography - Micky Focke reinterprets scenes from

everyday collective memory – often enough noted in the WorldWideWeb - as well as

from her own lines of sight and daily images, experiences and adventures.

Micky Focke also uses paintography to discuss contemporary philosophical questions:

Which way do we want to deal with our world?

Which structures do we want to preserve, activate, reinterpret?

The interlocking of photography and painting dissolves the clear separation between reality and

dream, existence and option in favor of an opening and expansion. Interweaving, overlapping

illusion and cognition can thus break new ground and dare the untrained.

PAINTING

Micky Focke‘s oil paintings reflect her innermost questions. The human struggle for security, liberation

and love, respect and communication, one‘s own ways, the responsibility for oneself as a member of

a society: mirrors of presence and translucence.
