Stanford reunion homecoming weekend: october 21–24, 2010
Dear Classmate,
our 45th Reunion is just two months away.
We hope that you plan to join us. If you are
coming, no need to read any more. skip to the
enclosed registration form, and we’ll see you
in october.
If you haven’t made up your mind, we want to
persuade you. It’s a wonderful time to renew
friendships and meet classmates you may
have missed in the sixties. Glance through the
Class Book to jog your memory of friends and
acquaintances and give you a preview of lives
and interests of classmates that you may not
have known or kept up with. at the reunion,
there will be many chances to get together,
especially at our “Then and Now” Class Party
on friday night and Mini-Reunions Celebration
on saturday evening.
our reunion is more than just a social experience, in stanford tradition, it is a chance to challenge
our minds. We are fortunate to have two outstanding panels to engage and inform us and to issue a
call for action.
forty-five years ago, we were involved in civil rights as the great public issue. Today, the critical issue
is climate change. Classmate John Bryson will lead the friday panel in a discussion exploring what we
can do as individuals and as a nation to make our future environment hospitable for our children and
grandchildren.
speaking of the future, is it time to reinvent ourselves after 65? life expectancy has never been longer.
our second panel on sunday will explore how to maintain a sense of health, happiness, purpose and
well being to make the most of the life before us.
Enjoy the opportunity to meet faculty and current students at Classes Without Quizzes. Mingle with
grads from other years who share our Reunion Weekend. Walk down memory lane on the Quad and be
amazed at changes. The weekend is an opportunity to explore, enlighten and enjoy stanford once again.
If you can’t come for the entire weekend, come for a day or so. Your presence will add to the richness
of the experience for all of us.
see you in october,
Remember when...
our generation is the first to be
challenged to reinvent ourselves
after the age of 65! after all, who
is really retiring? We are living
longer; we need to learn how to
live well in these years. our panel
of classmates will address some of
the critical issues: How do we nurture
our minds, retain our memories?
What should we be doing to
maintain our health and a sense
of happiness, purpose and well
being? How do we make the most
of the life before us? We anticipate
a spirited discussion between audience
and panelists as we explore
ideas and develop models for how
best to address these challenges.
Breakfast served at 9:30 a.m. Panel
will begin at 10:00 a.m.
