I can’t believe April is here
already and that spring has
sprung. Where does the time
go? We all are hoping for
good weather with some nice,
easy rain showers. Mother’s
Day is next month on May 12,
and your neighbors will probably
be putting new plants
in to spruce up the neighborhood.
Hidden Valley Fish and
Game Club has posted its
2024 Tournament Schedules.
To participate, a person must
be a member of the club.
A regular tournament and a
senior tournament are held annually.
The senior tournament
is only for seniors fifty years
and older. Remember, no alcoholic
beverages are allowed
during these tournaments.
The regular club competition
will be held at HVL Lake
all season. The first tournament
will be on Apr. 6 with
a rain date of Apr. 7. Another
competition is Apr. 13 and 14.
The senior competition is
held at different locations. On
Apr. 10 the competition will
be at HVL Lake starting at 7
A.M. and commencing by 1
P.M. On Apr. 24, the competition
will start at 8 A.M.
and commence at 2 P.M. at
Brookville, Fairfield.

The HVL Civic Club had
a successful Trivia Night on
Feb. 10 at Willie’s. We had
eight tables. The event went
over two hours and had three
cash drawings. Everyone had
a great time. Two upcoming
events are the Adult Easter
Egg Hunt on Mar. 30 and
the big HVL Garage Sale on
Apr. 27 -28. The Egg Hunt
is an adult event held during
the afternoon. Plastic eggs
containing prize slips are
going to be used. The gazebo
will be the starting point. In
April the Garage Sale allows
everyone to do some wheeling
and dealing for great bargains.
Everything imaginable will be
for sale at many area homes.
Please be aware, however,
that traffic gets very crowded
and our speed limit in the
community is 15 mph around
our play areas as posted. The
speed limit in the rest of HVL
is 25 mph. Our police force
will be on duty for everyone’s
safety.

Dave Roberts is the fastest
rower over age 55 in the
country.
Our neighbor Ashley Howe
submitted the following:
In 2023, Rower Dave
Roberts won the gold medal
at the Masters National
Championship regatta as the
fastest rower over the age of
55 in the country. In addition
to winning the gold in his
single event, he won gold in a
mixed eight (an eight-person
boat with four men and four
women) as well as a men’s
quad (four-person boat). Dave
is a member of the Cincinnati
Rowing Club and in addition
to winning at the Master’s
Championship regatta, in
2023 Dave brought home gold
medals at regattas in Chicago,
Oak Ridge, and Chattanooga.

Hoosier Boys and Girls
State is a week-long intensive
government and leadership
program sponsored by the
Indiana Legion and Indiana
Legion Auxiliary. Each year,
young men and women from
across the state participate in
the program, where they learn
about the primary process and
select a government or political
position to which they
want to be elected.
The North Dearborn
American Legion Auxiliary
Unit 452 is looking for
was co-captain for the University
of Michigan crew.
He won his age grouping
at the World Masters Regatta
in 2010. In 2004, Dave
participated in the Olympic
trials in a two-man boat that
was not able to win the trials
as needed to represent the US
at the Olympics. You may see
young men and women who
will be completing their junior
year of high school this
spring and who are interested
in participating in Hoosier
Boys or Girls State. If you or

The North Dearborn
American Legion is hosting
its monthly euchre tournament
on Apr. 14. Doors open
at noon and games begin at 1
P.M. The entry fee is $5 per
