This course aims to provide you with the knowledge to achieve standard echocardiographic<br />
views in dogs including right and left side views and M mode. The common artefacts which may<br />
be confused with cardiac pathology will be covered and an overview of the changes seen in<br />
common acquired and congenital cardiac disease in the dog and cat will be illustrated. The theory<br />
of Doppler will be introduced and its application in acquired and congenital disease, changes<br />
associated with hypertension, anaemia, hyperthyroidism and other systemic disease that can cause<br />
echocardiographic changes will also be covered.<br />

This course is for veterinary surgeons who already have some experience of performing<br />
echocardiography in practice or who have attended the two-day next steps course and would like to<br />
enhance their skills. The day will focus on more advanced echocardiographic measurements with an<br />
emphasis on when to use them and interpret them. This highly practical course will revisit optimising<br />
the standard right-sided echocardiographic views and then concentrate on the left-sided standard<br />
views and Doppler echocardiography.<br />
