2024 1st Quarter almost in the Books 

2024 First quarter is almost in the books. 

Spring has sprung. Crazy stuff happening 

around the planet as we see the world through 

the TV News, Internet and Social Media. We 

know it can be ugly and hard to fathom at 

times. March Madness is here which is a good 

thing. Only bummer UCLA is missing. 

The Good News is Jesus is Lord and by trusting 

in the Lord you are walking on the right path. 

April is almost here. Spring Training games are 

over on March 26th and MLB will be starting a 

new season on March 28th just as we as 

Christians are starting a new Season. March 31st 

we will celebrate the resurrection Jesus Christ 

our Lord and Saviour. It is a landmark, 

remarkable day and there should be a smile on 

our faces on Easter knowing thar Jesus has 

overcome the sting of death, Satan and the 

World. 

“The use of painted and decorated Easter eggs 

was first recorded in the 13th century. The 

church prohibited the eating of eggs during 

Holy Week, but chickens continued to lay eggs 

during that week, and the notion of specially 

identifying those as “Holy Week” eggs brought 

about their decoration. The egg itself became 

a symbol of the Resurrection. Just as Jesus rose 

from the tomb, the egg symbolizes new life 

emerging from the eggshell. In the Orthodox 

tradition eggs are painted red to symbolize the

in the United States. First lady Lucy Hayes, the 

wife of Pres. Rutherford B. Hayes, is often credited 

with sponsoring the first annual Easter

egg roll (an event where children and their 

parents were invited to roll their eggs on 

the Monday following Easter) on the White 

House lawn, in 1878. That year the event was 

moved to the White House from the grounds 

of the U.S. Capitol Building, where large 

numbers of children had gathered beginning 

in the early 1870s to roll their eggs and play 

on Easter Monday. Members of Congress 

were dismayed by the large crowds on 

Capitol Hill and feared that the foot traffic 

was damaging the grounds. By 1876 

Congress and Pres. Ulysses S. Grant passed 

a law that forbade the practice of egg rolling 

on Capitol Hill. Some historical records note 

that the Hayes first opened the White House 

lawn to egg rolling festivities the following 

year, in 1877, after a young boy asked President 

Hayes directly for permission to use the

Heaven Bound Book Feature 

Early on in my sales career I would listen to Books on Tape in my car while 

navigating the Freeways and Roads of So Cal calling on clients and prospects 

while selling commercial printing for My Dad and His Partners Printing 

Business. One Book on tape I will never forget was the autobiography of 

Wallace E. Johnson titled “Work is my play”. I truly believe that God puts 

people, places, books and incidents in our life for a reason. This book was one 

of those jewels that surely impacted me when I read the story of Wallace and 

his partner Kemmons Wilson who started the Holiday Inns. 

Nothing is impossible with Faith, Hard Work and trusting the Lord in 

everything you do. Although the Book is out of print its message is still available 

for anyone to read online I’m sure through Amazon. I was fortunate to get 

a signed copy of his Book but sadly Wallace died the year I received the book 

and I never had the chance to meet Wallace which was in my plans. I hope you 

read the book and if you wish I will gladly send you my dog eared copy if you 

promise to return it the same beat up condition.

Do Animals Go to Heaven 

Many Christian leaders have also addressed the question of what happens to animals after they die. 

John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, taught that humans are stewards of—and responsible for the care 

of—God’s creation. When they failed to protect His perfect creation, humans sinned against God, and when 

pain and suffering then entered the world, animals had to endure it, too. The bond God had created was 

broken, and humans’ exploitation of and cruelty to animals began. Wesley spoke with anticipation of a new 

creation in which God would restore animals to their intended glory. 

Martin Luther, who founded the Lutheran church, held a view similar to Wesley’s, saying, “In Paradise there 

was complete harmony between man and animals; one day again that harmony will be restored and all creation 

will be made anew as Christ will be in all and all.” 

Pope John Paul II confirmed that “[n]o human being can be justified in claiming absolute ownership of animals 

for the simple reason that God alone owns creation. Animals do not simply exist for us nor belong to us. 

They exist primarily for God and belong to God. The whole work of creation belongs to the plan of salvation, 

‘the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things.’” 

In his book Heaven, Randy Alcorn writes, “Horses, cats, dogs, deer, dolphins, and squirrels—as well as the 

inanimate creation—will be beneficiaries of Christ’s death and resurrection. … If we believe God is their 

Creator, that He loves us and them, that He intends to restore His creatures from the bondage they experienced 

because of our sin, then we have biblical grounds for not only wanting but expecting that we may be with 

them again on the New Earth.” 

Scripture and many of those whom God called to share His message have explained that He created animals, 

blessed them, and called them good and that one day they will be part of His restored perfect kingdom. It’s 

important to note that God doesn’t differentiate among species, even though it might be more convenient for 

some humans to believe that the dogs and cats they share their homes with—but not the chicken they just ate 

for dinner—will be with them in heaven. Some people might picture a heaven with doves and majestic elephants—but 

not the tiny mouse they killed in a glue trap. Humans don’t get to make those determinations, 

though. God does, and His choice is clear. 

We don’t have to wait for a new kingdom in order to live in harmony with the rest of God’s creation. Right 

now, we can refuse to exploit or abuse animals for experimentation, food, clothing, entertainment, or any 

other reason, thus honoring Jesus’ commandment to “love one another.”
