Thusiasterion (Greek) = the altar<br />

Mizbeah (Hebrew) = the altar<br />

Altar is a frequently reoccurring theme of the Bible. <strong>The</strong> altar signifies to place of<br />

atonement, or the means of dealing with sin. esus is the ultimate atonement, the<br />

ultimate sacrifice one time for the sins of the world. Atonement in Christ was the way<br />

God dealt with human sin and defeated the enemy the serpent, dragon or scorpion. It is<br />

fascinating that in this cluster of constellations we have all three: the serpent, the<br />

scorpion and dragon grouped together and defeated by the various Christ-like figures.<br />

<strong>In</strong> Greek mythology this sign also depicted the funeral pyres of the underworld,<br />

biblically equated with the lake of fire, the destination of the devil’s demise.<br />
