Message In The Stars

The Hebrew word Mazzaroth simply refers to the same concept to which the Greek term refers to the Zodiac. I got this study from "Berean Insights'." Job 38:31-33 Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of
Orion?
32 Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his
sons?
Strong's Hebrew 4216 only 1 Occurrence
• “Mazzaroth” From, “mazzarah, or mazzaroth (4216)” meaning, perhaps a constellation.
Apparently from nazar in the sense of distinction; some noted constellation (only in the
plural), perhaps collectively, the zodiac -- Mazzoroth.
- Compare mazzalah, constellations, perhaps signs of the zodiac. Apparently
from nazal in the sense of raining; a constellation, i.e. Zodiacal sign (perhaps as affecting
the weather) -- planet. Compare mazzarah.
Strong's Hebrew 5906 only 2 Occurrences (Job 9:9; Job 38:32)
• “Arcturus” From, “Ayish or Ash (5906)” (a constellation) perhaps Great Bear. Or Ash
{awsh}; from uwsh; the constellation of the Great Bear (perhaps from its migration
through the heavens) -- Arcturus.
33 Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the
earth?
• I have told you before I started this series on the Mazzaroth that it is simply a series of
constellations selected around the pathway along a 15-degree pathway mapped across
the heavens, as the earth goes around the sun. (Zodiac (Greek), Mazzaroth (Hebrew).
• The Bible tells us that God set the stars in place and named them. Twelve were chosen
as the prime constellations.
Berean Standard Bible
Psalms 19:1-6 For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.
3 Without speech or language, without a sound to be heard,
4 their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the
heavens He has pitched a tent for the sun.

3
5 Like a bridegroom emerging from his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his
course,
6 it rises at one end of the heavens and runs its circuit to the other; nothing is
deprived of its warmth.
• But there are 48 constellations chosen in total and arranged in sets of three (decans)
centered around each one of the selected twelve constellations.
What fascinates me is the fact that there is a correlation of meaning across ten ancient
languages of the world for these 48 constellations and their symbolism:
- Hebrew, Chaldean, Assyrian, Persian, Egyptian, Latin, Greek, Syriac, Coptic and Arabic.
Now you have to admit the last one is an interesting inclusion in the list. I have shared
enough information with you already over these last 14 Nuggets to give you sufficient
awareness of the fact that there is a correlation of meaning for each of the twelve-star
signs and their associated decans. That is what we would expect if God had indeed
named the stars. Take some time to read back through the Nuggets I have written on
this topic, and you will see what I mean.
• In the last Nugget I gave you an overview of the meaning centered around each of the
constellations and their associated stars. When all-star signs are combined in the order I
suggested, there is both a logical and heavenly association and progression of meaning
which results from the collection of stars in the Mazzaroth. There is a natural
progression from the star sign of the Coming Messiah (Virgo) to the final sign of the
Coming Lion of Judah (Leo) which contain a series of linked ideas. There is a juxtaposing
of constellations in such a way as to tell a story across the heavens.
• Indeed, it is the salvation story; would we expect anything else, if God is telling the
story? I also realize it will take me a few Nuggets to highlight some of the detail. Like
anything with God behind it, the Mazzaroth is just full of relevant detail.
Throughout the series related to the constellations there are repetitive themes. The
Messiah figure appears frequently in various forms. The Son of Virgo (in Coma),
Ophiuchus, Hercules, Sagittarius, Perseus, Auriga the shepherd and lastly the Judge of
Taurus and the triumphant Lion of Judah. Throughout the star series there is constant
reference to “His coming” (quickly). Multiple times the figure which represents him is

4
“struck, bruised or wounded in the heel”. Ok God, we get the message! There are
repetitive references to the link to the Branch spread across the star signs which have a
Christ-like figure in them.
• There is also a continual appearance of symbolic figures to represent the enemy –
Satan. These include Serpens, Hydra, Scorpio, Drago and Cetus. I may well have missed
one or two, but I am sure some of you, my readers, will keep me honest and remind me
of any I didn’t include. Often the juxta positioning of the figures of Christ and the
symbols of the enemy are filled with analogy of the great and ultimate victory. The heel
of the Christ is bruised or stung while the head or the heart of the enemy is crushed or
pierced. Similarly, the stars included in this depiction of the great cosmic battle suggest
the ultimate victory of the coming Redeemer.
• The star signs of the Mazzaroth appear to be arranged in groups. Initially the focus is
the Coming Messiah, the reason for his Coming, to redeem us and then the cosmic
conflict that ensues. Following which Capricorn is introduced as the goat, the price paid
for sin and then the life-giving water is introduced to lead into the stream of living water
present in Aquarius. With Aquarius the life-giving-water theme is continued, and the fish
(Christians) are introduced. There is an ongoing motif of the people of God throughout
the star signs which I will deal with in the next Gemz. There is also a repeated dualism
present which I will also address in the last Nugget.
• The other theme to note is the continual reference to sacrifice which appears in Libra,
Capricorn, Aries and Taurus. Libra lays out for us the fact that there is a sacrifice which
covers and a sacrifice which is inadequate. To remind you yet again, the blood of lambs,
goats, bulls, oxen and any other thing you might think will cover you is inadequate.
The Big Picture of the Mazzaroth and its Meaning
The Depth and Intricacy of the Motifs and Connections between
the Constellations
The Final Cluster of the Signs of the Mazzaroth and its Polarity
Psalms 19:1-6
Virgo:
• In the Mazzaroth the word for Virgin is Bethulah. Interestingly in Arabic the same word
means “branch”. Branch is also a biblical term for Messiah as seen in Zechariah 3:8 and
many other references. In Latin, the language of Rome, the word Virgo means “virgin”
and virga means “branch”. The term for this constellation in Coptic is Aspolia which
means “the place of the desired branch”. The Branch is a biblical term for the coming
Messiah.

7
The brightest star in the constellation of Virgo is Tsemech (Hebrew) which means
Branch, in Arabic this word is Al Zimach meaning the same thing. One star in the
constellation of Virgo is called Zavijaveh meaning “gloriously beautiful”:- the one who is
referred to in Isaiah 4:2 as “the Branch of the LORD will be beautiful and glorious”.
Other stars in the constellation are Al Mureddan which means “who shall come down” or
“who shall have dominion”. In Chaldean this star was called Vindemiatrix, meaning “the
Branch shall come down”.
One Decan associated with Virgo is Coma – “The Desired Son”. In Egyptian it was
called Shesnu also meaning the ‘desired son”. Shakespeare referred to this in his play
Titus Andronicus, Act iv Scene iii with the words “the good boy in Virgo’s lap”. Who is
the good boy in Virgo’s lap, none other than the Branch, the coming Messiah of God.
Coma is one of three associated constellations of Virgo. The Arabian astronomer
Albamazer in AD 805 referred to the son in Virgo as having the name Ihesu. “There
arises in the first decan, as the Persians, Chaldeans and Egyptians, the two Hermes and
Ascalius teach – a young woman whose Persian name translated into Arabic is
Adrenedefa, a pure and immaculate virgin … sitting on a throne nourishing an infant
who has a Hebrew name, by some nations called Ihesu, with the signification Ieza, which
in Greek is called Christ.” From a Christian point of view, it is clear that we are talking
about Christ the Messiah. Barbanel, a Jew living in Medieval times claimed a bright star
was to have appeared in the heavens two years before the Messiah’s birth. It was this
star which prompted the Magi to begin their journey. At midnight in the middle of
September 5 B.C. the constellation was on the meridian above Bethlehem. A year later a
bright star would have appeared over the head of Coma in the constellation of Virgo
and its associated decans. That star would have been bright enough to have been seen
all day and would have been visible for 30 years, i.e. throughout Jesus lifetime (read
“time on earth”; He is still alive!).

8
• When you put all these pieces together, we are talking about the heavens announcing
the coming (the advent) of the Messiah. Little wonder the Magi knew when to move and
the angels came down and sang praises to God along with the shepherds. As we shall
see in the coming weeks, God’s plan for mankind has always been able to be seen in the
heavens for those who are looking. Of course, we have to begin with the constellation of
Virgo, the Virgin. Where else would we begin?
Libra:
The name of this constellation in various languages is:
• Mozanaim (Hebrew) = scales, weighed
• Libra (Latin) – the weighing, scales
• Al Zubena (Arabic) – purchase or redemption
• Mazatho (Syriac) – scales
For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited
from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value.
It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.

9
1 Peter 1:18-19
For, there is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man
Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God
gave to the world at just the right time.
1 Timothy 2:5-6
The Brightest star in the lower scale tilted toward the earth is Zuben al Genubi meaning
“the price which is deficient.”
The Brightest star in the upper scale tilted toward the heavens is Zuben al Shemali
meaning “the price which covers.”
Now isn’t that interesting? Deficient from the earthly viewpoint but covered from
heaven. Of course, this illustrates so many verses in the Bible.
For example:
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a
gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us
can boast about it.
Ephesians 2:8-9
Tekel means ‘weighed’— “you have been weighed on the balances and have not
measured up.” Daniel 5:27.
The scales of Justice from God’s point of view.
Other stars: Zuben Akrabi = “price of the conflict”
Al Zubena – purchase, redemption
Coptic – Lambadia – station of propitiation

10
Roman / Greek propitiation (the act of pleasing or appeasing a god) / expiation (the
removal of the offence, guilt or sin) – price paid to be righteous. (Declared righteous by
God).
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his
righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To
declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of
him which believeth in Jesus.
Romans 3:25-26
Decans of Libra
Crux / Southern Cross
This constellation is an easily recognizable guide for navigation in the southern
Hemisphere. But not only for navigation across the globe but for navigation towards our
heavenly home.
One star which stands out in the Crux is Adom meaning “the cutting off” (Daniel’s
prophecy)
Now listen and understand! Seven sets of seven plus sixty-two sets of seven will pass
from the time the command is given to rebuild Jerusalem until a ruler—the Anointed
One—comes. Jerusalem will be rebuilt with streets and strong defenses, despite the
perilous times. “After this period of sixty-two sets of seven, the Anointed One will be
killed (literally: cut off), appearing to have accomplished nothing, and a ruler will arise
whose armies will destroy the city and the Temple. The end will come with a flood, and
war and its miseries are decreed from that time to the very end. The ruler will make a
treaty with the people for a period of one set of seven, but after half this time, he will
put an end to the sacrifices and offerings. And as a climax to all his terrible deeds, he will

11
set up a sacrilegious object that causes desecration, until the fate decreed for this defiler
is finally poured out on him.”
Daniel 9:25-27
• I won’t explain here, but this prophecy predicts to the day the moment Christ would
enter Jerusalem to give his life as a ransom of the world.
The cross is recognized in Egyptian, Persian, Assyrian. Hindu. Chinese, Mexican, Peruvian,
Scandinavian, Gault and Celt cultures as well as others not mentioned. Long before the
Christian era, the Cross was a sacred emblem to the Egyptians. The Persians celebrated
the feast of the cross when sun entered Aries each year. They (the Persians) depicted this
constellation as scales in one hand and a lamb in the other. There is more but I dare not
add it here or this Nugget will grow too long.
Lupus (the wolf) or The Victim that Centaurus is stabbing. There are two interpretations
to this decan. One star in the constellation of Lupus is Aseda (Hebrew) or Asedaton
(Arabic) which means to be slain. Greek it’s either Thera the beast or Lycos, the wolf. It’s
the same in Latin. There are variations as to who this victim may be. It’s generally
depicted as a wolf, the idea representing the devil who will ultimately be killed. Or in
Arabic the sense is of a sheep or a lamb. In Coptic or in Egyptian it is a youth (Horus)
who was the beloved son of Osiris and the virgin, the one who would come. So, it’s
either the Christ who would die for our sins or the devil who will suffer ultimate defeat.
Crown
This constellation is called atarah in Hebrew, corona in Latin, stephanos in Greek all of
which mean “crown”. In Arabic it’s called Al Iclil, the ornament or the jewel. The brightest
star in this constellation is Al Phecca which means “the shining”. The Corona Borealis

12
shines within this constellation vertically over Jerusalem once every year, reminding us
that ‘every knee shall bow to the One who wears the crown of the King of Kings.
I think it is pretty clear the reason this constellation and its decans has been set perfectly
in its place in the heavens. The meaning it carries, in and of itself, is clearly the
redemption and purchase price the Coming One will pay for those who need saving and
ultimately, He will be crowned King. His sign in the heavens (the cross) is the means
whereby He purchased our redemption for those who will receive it.
Scorpio:
Akrab (Heb) = scorpion, conflict, war
Isidis (Coptic) = attack of the enemy, oppression
Al Akrab (Arabic/Syriac) = wounding him that cometh

13
Latin Scorpio / Greek Scorpios – cleaving in conflict
The brightest star in the constellation of Scorpio is Antares (Arabic) = “the wounding”
Other stars: Lesath = “the perverse”
Al Kalb – the (cleaving in) conflict
The conflict between Christ and the devil. All through the Bible the devil is depicted as a
snake, a serpent, a dragon. There is another constellation in the heavens associated with
Scorpio called Draco (the Dragon). These images are all used to illustrate the conflict
between Christ and the devil. Revelation 9:3,5,10; 1 Corinthians 15:25f; Psalms 91:13;
Associated Decans of Scorpio
Serpens “the serpent” (see Genesis 3)
Brightest star: Unuk = “encompassing”
Alyah (Heb) – the accursed
Al Hay (Arabic) – the reptile
Ophiuchus (Hebrew / Arabic) = “the serpent held.”
OphIuchus stands on the scorpion while holding the serpent
Affalius (Persian) – serpent holder
Serpentarius (Latin) – holder of the serpent
Brightest star: Ras al Hagus (Arabic) = “the head of him who holds”
Ras al Awa = the head of the desired one”
Sarph = “bruised (in the foot)
Ophiuchus is stung in the heel by the scorpion but crushes the serpent’s head

14
Afeichus (Heb & Arabic) “viper held”
Triophas “stamping”, “treading under foot”
Carnebus “the wounding”, “pierced”
“Then the LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, you are cursed
more than all animals, domestic and wild. You will crawl on your belly, gravelling in the
dust as long as you live. And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and
between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his
heel.”
Genesis 3:14-15
“I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! Look, I have given you authority over all the
power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them.
Nothing will injure you.”
Luke 10:18-19
Hercules
A Christ-like figure kneeling on one knee, holding a branch, the other foot over the head
of Draco, the dragon
Al Giscale (Arabic) – the strong
Marsic (Heb) the wounding
Caiam – punishing under foot
Ma’asym – the sin offering
Ras al Gethi (Arabic) – head of him who bruises
Engonasin (Greek) – who kneels

15
Hercules (Latin) – the strong
But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be
whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. (Isaiah 53:5) Other verses Job 5:17, Isaiah
53:3,4; 53:9-10, Psalms 2:8, 9
• This verse in Genesis is predictive of the fact that the devil will bruise the heel of Christ
(seemingly gaining the victory over Him at the cross) but Christ will ultimately defeat the
devil totally by crushing or stamping on the devil’s head. The illustration of that conflict
is summed up in the constellations in the heavens by Scorpio and its associated decans.
Yet the conflict is so unerringly accurate according to what is written in the Bible, it has
to make us stop and at least think about the significance. How appropriate that Scorpio
should be illustrated stinging the heel of Ophiuchus (a type of Christ) while he
(Ophiuchus) crushes the head of the serpent in accord with Genesis 3:15.
• Yes, “the conflict of the ages” is laid out in the skies above us and many ancient
civilizations were aware of it. At the conclusion of this series, I will give you an
illustration of how all of the constellations and their decans go together. There is debate
as to whether Ophiuchus is a decan of Scorpio or whether it is in fact a thirteenth
constellation given all the detail surrounding this patch in the heavens. The
decan Hercules is depicted holding a branch (reference to Christ as the Branch as we
saw in looking at the constellation of Virgo) with his foot over the head of Draco the
dragon. Whichever way we look at the constellations and the associated decans
surrounding Scorpio, they are all related to the conflict of the ages.
• These concepts are curiously linked throughout the Bible, including the reference to
God instructing Moses to lift up the serpent and put it on a pole in the wilderness.
(Numbers 21:4-9) This serpent on a pole (Nehustan) is referred to in 2 King 18:4 in a
derogatory way as “the brazen serpent”. God has woven this link to the serpent

16
throughout the Bible when referring to the role of the devil. It is a complex allusion with
requires much unravelling, but I don’t intend to deal with the link in this series on the
Mazzaroth. Maybe some other time depending on the response.
Sagittarius:
Kesith (Hebrew) = the archer, the bow
Al Kaus (Arabic) = the bow
Kesith (Syriac) = the bow
Toxotes (Greek) = the archer
Pi-maere (Coptic) = the going forth
Sagittarius (Latin) = who sends forth the arrow (the archer)
“But God himself will shoot them with his arrows, suddenly striking them down.”
Psalm 64:7

17
Brightest star in the Constellation of Sagiattarius is Naim (Hebrew) = “the gracious one”
Other stars:
Nushata (Hebrew) = the going forth
Terebellum (Hebrew) = sent forth swiftly “Behold I come swiftly and my reward is with
me.” (Revelation 22:12)
Al Warida = “who comes forth”
Cheiron= The Righteous Dealing One (Centaur) – Cheiron in Greek mythology was also
the one associated with music and worship
Croton = the one who purchases
The Decans of Sagittarius
The Eagle (holding the Lyre)
Shelyuk (Hebrew) Eagle
Sulaphat springing up
Al Nesr (Arabic) the eagle
Lyra (Latin) the lyre
Nesir (Assyrian) the eagle
Shir (Assyrian) music
Like an eagle that rouses her chicks and hovers over her young, so he spread his wings
to take them up and carried them safely on his pinions. (Deuteronomy 32:11)
Stars:
Vega (Hebrew) he shall be exalted

18
The lyre and the harp are symbols of music / worship, signifying the worship given to
the One who conquers the enemy.
The Altar – Ara (Latin)
Al Mugamra (Arabic) = the completing, the perfecting, the finishing
Thusiasterion (Greek) = the altar
Mizbeah (Hebrew) = the altar
Altar is a frequently reoccurring theme of the Bible. The altar signifies to place of
atonement, or the means of dealing with sin. esus is the ultimate atonement, the
ultimate sacrifice one time for the sins of the world. Atonement in Christ was the way
God dealt with human sin and defeated the enemy the serpent, dragon or scorpion. It is
fascinating that in this cluster of constellations we have all three: the serpent, the
scorpion and dragon grouped together and defeated by the various Christ-like figures.
In Greek mythology this sign also depicted the funeral pyres of the underworld,
biblically equated with the lake of fire, the destination of the devil’s demise.
The Dragon (Draco)
Draco (Grk) = “trodden on”
Brightest star: Thuban = “the subtle”
Ethanin = “the long serpent”, “dragon”
Rastaban (Heb) = “the head of the subtle”
Al Waid (Arabic) = “who is to be destroyed”
Giansar meaning “the punished enemy”, “set aside for destruction”.

19
• There are a number of other stars in this decan with names carrying a similar meaning,
depicting the ultimate destruction of the enemy (satan).
The dragon is used primarily in Revelation to depict the enemy of our souls. There are
few references in the rest of the Bible. Dragon is used in the book where the devil is
ultimately destroyed. The arrow of the archer is pointed at the heart of Scorpio.
The enemy of Sagittarius are all forms of the devil:- serpent, scorpion and dragon.
At this point in the circle of the Mazzaroth, the theme switches from the battle with the
enemy to God’s ultimate purpose. Next week with the following constellation we move
to a different focus.
Capricornus:
Hu-Penius (Egyptian) – “the place of sacrifice”

20
Gedi (Hebrew) – “the kid”, “cut off”
Al Gedi (Arabic) – “the kid”, “cut off”
Gedi (Syriac) – “the kid”, “cut off”
Aigokereus (Greek) – “the goat”
Capricornus (Latin) – “the goat”, “the atonement”, “bowed down”
The other goat, the scapegoat chosen by lot to be sent away, will be kept alive, standing
before the LORD. When it is sent away to Azazel in the wilderness, the people will be
purified and made right with the LORD.
Leviticus 16:10, and 15, 21
and a male goat for a sin offering. (multiple repetitions through
Numbers 7
You must also offer a male goat as a sin offering to purify yourselves and make
yourselves right with the LORD.
Numbers 28:22
You must also sacrifice one male goat for a sin offering. This is in addition to the sin
offering of atonement and the regular daily burnt offering with its grain offering, and
their accompanying liquid offerings. (multiple repetitions through Numbers 29
Stars in the constellation:
Al Gedi – “the goat”
Deneb al Gedi – “the sacrifice cometh”
Dabih (Syriac) – “the sacrifice slain”

21
Al Dabih (Arabic) – “the sacrifice slain”
Al Dahabeh (Arabic) – “the slaying”
Sa’ad al Naschira (Arabic) – “the record of the cutting off”
Deneb (Hebrew) – “the Lord, the judge cometh”
The Decans of Capricornus
Sagitta The Arrow
Sham (Hebrew) – “destroying”, “desolate”
The arrow that slew the eagle.
Aquila The Eagle (falling)
Tarared (Hebrew) – wounded, he cometh down
Like an eagle that rouses her chicks and hovers over her young, so he spread his wings
to take them up and carried them safely on his pinions. ()
Deuteronomy 32:11
Brightest star Al Tair (Arabic) = “the wounding”
Other stars Al Okal / Okab (Arabic) = “wounded in the heel”
Al Shain – the bright, scarlet
Deneb (Hebrew) – the Lord the judge cometh
When we come into the land, you must leave this scarlet rope hanging from the window
through which you let us down. And all your family members—your father, mother,
brothers, and all your relatives—must be here inside the house.
Joshua 2:18

22
• Read the whole of Psalm 22
Delphinus (Greek – the Dolphin)
Egyptian – the water vessel – outpouring
Stars:
Dalaph (Hebrew) pouring out water
Dalaph (Arabic) coming quickly
Scalooin (Arabic) swift flowing water
Rotaneb (Syriac) – swift flowing water through a trough
Rotaneu (Chaldean) – swift flowing water through a trough
The goat always has the body of a fish in Zodiac signs from the east and Egypt.
The third decan in Persian is depicted as a fish in a stream of water
We will pick up on the imagery of the water and the fish when we deal with the
constellations of Aquarius and Pisces.
• As we saw in last week’s look at Sagittarius, the Lord’s prime method of dealing with
the enemy of our souls (satan) is to defeat him by sacrifice. So often all of these figures
representative of God are mortally wounded or brought down, including the eagle. It is
highly significant that in this constellation and its associated decans and stars there is a
star named “wounded in the heel”. Yes God will be wounded in the heel but will crush
the head of the serpent (satan).
And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and
her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.
Genesis 3:15

23
• The Gospel in the stars faithfully depicts the theme of the Bible throughout in
languages and earthly kingdoms which surprisingly follow the Bible’s lead, for example
in Arabic. This biblical theme is consistent across multiple ancient languages even down
to the biblical repetition on important themes.
Next week we will investigate Aquarius followed by Pisces and then Aries. Do you see
the water and sacrifice thread running through the message in stars?
Aquarius:
Deli (Hebrew) – the water urn, bucket
Delu (Arabic) – the water urn, bucket
Hupei Tirion (Coptic) – the station of pouring out
Hydrokoeus (Greek) – the pourer forth of water
Aquarius (Latin) = the pouring forth of water
Aquarius: The Water Bearer
Stars in Aquarius

24
Sa’ad al Melik = “the record of the pouring forth”
Sa’ad al Suud = “who goes and returns”, “pourer out”, “stream”
Other stars: “who causes the abundant overflow”
“the Lord to come”
Ancha (Arabic) “the vessel of the outpouring”, “the urn”
Mon / Meon (Egyptian) “vessel”, “urn”
But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh,
bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.
John 4:14
On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds,
“Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and
drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’ (When
he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone
believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet
entered into his glory.)
John 7:37-39
Also, Revelation 22:1-2; Ezekiel 47:1-12 [plus countless other references]
The Decans of Aquarius
Pisces Australis – (the southern fish)
Fom al Haut (Arabic) mouth of the fish

25
Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: “My servants will eat, but you will
starve. My servants will drink, but you will be thirsty. My servants will rejoice, but you will
be sad and ashamed.
Isaiah 65:13
Fish in Scripture are normally representative of God’s people.
“Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”
Matthew 4:19
Pegasus – The Winged Horse
Markab (Hebrew) – returning from afar
Scheat (Heb) – who goes and returns
Eniph (Heb) – the branch
Al Genib (Arabic) – who carries
Homan (Arabic) – the water
Matar (Arabic) – causes to overflow
Pegasus (Greek, Latin) coming quickly, rejoicing, plentiful
Zechariah 1:8-10, Luke 19:12, Revelation 6:2, 19:11,
Cygnus – The Swan
Azel (Heb) who goes about and returns
Savage (Heb) glorious, shining forth
Sadr (Heb) who returns in a circle
Adige (Heb) flying swiftly

26
Arided (Heb) he shall come down
Al Bireo (Arabic) he shall come down
Deneb (Hebrew, as in Capricornus) judge
Cycnos (Grk) the swan circling
Cygnus (Latin) who comes and goes, circles
The names in Pegasus apply to the man in Aquarius.
• Water is the life-giving element of the physical world. It’s what makes our planet “the
blue dot”. Jesus is the true giver of life, giver water. Water is also synonymous with the
outpouring of the Spirit, the former and latter rains. In the Old Testament God’s
blessings to his people is always beside rivers and water. Pisces Australis (the Southern
fish) is seen drinking from the stream coming from Aquarius. “If any man thirsts let him
to me and drink.” In scripture, fish symbolize Christians, those who’ve come alive in the
Spirit.
• Horse – Pegasus – literally “the horse of the fountain”, the winged horse, the
messenger of the gods. The message from the gods of a great victory won. Horses are
either the symbol of those who would carry the message or the appearance of a horse
in Scripture often heralds a message of pending judgement. The true Pegasus is the
messenger who brings the gospel of Christ.
The Swan
• This is an intriguing constellation. The swan is on the wing, in the act of fast flight. In
harmony with the notion of the swiftness of movement this group contains 61 Cygni, a
binary star which is the swiftest stellar body in our universe. Its binary nature means 61
Cygni is linked to both planetary nebulae and the nebulous stars. It is partly terrestrial
and partly celestial. Which accords with terrestrial Pisces and celestial Pisces, which we

27
look at next week. All the pieces fit; but we would expect that when God spells out the
story. In keeping with the overall message the stars convey, the stars in the spread wings
and body of the swan decan form a large cross.
The message conveyed in the stars is intricately interwoven. Next week we investigate
Pisces, of course that would be the next one in God’s serial message.
Pisces:
The Sign of the Fish
• Dagim (Hebrew) – fishes
• Al Haut (Arabic) – the fish
• Nuno (Syriac) – “the fish”, also a symbol for prosperity
• Pi-cot Orion or Pisces Hori (Egyptian) meaning – “the fish of Him that cometh”
• “the company of the coming Prince”
• Ichthus (Greek) – fish

28
• Pisces (Latin) – fish, multiplying
Stars in Pisces:
• Fom al Haut (Arabic) = “the mouth of the fish”
• Okda (Hebrew) – “the united”
• Al Samaca (Arabic) “the upheld”
• This sign is depicted as two large fish, one fish is heaven bound toward the North Star,
the other is earth bound, along the line of the ellipse (sun’s path). They are tied to the
two ends of a long undulating band or ribbon which is held by the hand of the ram or
lamb (Aries). In other words, those who are bound to the Lamb. Those who are His. From
the First Century AD until today the sign of the fish
has been a sign for Christians.
• The Greek word “ichthus” which means “fish” is also a mnemonic for: Iesus Christus,
Uios Theou Sotēr meaning “Jesus Christ Son of God Saviour”. It was used in Roman
times to indicate that there was an underground Christian church meeting nearby.
Similar practices are true today.
People can never predict when hard times might come. Like fish in a net or birds in a
trap, people are caught by sudden tragedy.
Ecclesiastes 9:12
Are we only fish to be caught and killed? Are we only sea creatures that have no leader?)

29
Habakkuk 1:14
Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”
Matthew 4:19 / Mark 1:17
Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a fishing net that was thrown into the water and
caught fish of every kind.
Matthew 13:47
When the net was full, they dragged it up onto the shore, sat down, and sorted the
good fish into crates, but threw the bad ones away.
Matthew 13:48
Why two fish?
There are two views of the meaning of two fish:
1. Two classes of Christians: Those looking to heaven and those looking to the world,
the latter of which will be saved but with the smell of fire on them...
2. Those saved before Christ’s death burial and resurrection and those saved after His
act of redemption.
Much more could be said at this point, but I will resist the urge to explain more. If you
have questions feel free to ask.
The Decans of Pisces (or the Associated Constellations)
The Band
• Al Risha (Arabic) “the band”
• Uor (Egyptian) = “he cometh to loose the band” // (Isa 58:6)

30
The Band of Pisces is mentioned in the Arabian poem of Antar as a separate
constellation.
I led Israel along with my ropes of kindness and love. I lifted the yoke from his neck, and
I myself stooped to feed him.
Hosea 11:4
Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under
control.”
Psalm 32:9
It is interesting that the band, cords that bind both the fish by the tail are held by Aries,
the Lamb.
The Branch (Cepheus) – the human figure holding a branch
• Cepheus (Greek) “branch”
• Cheicus (Hebrew) “comes as a circle”
• Regulus (Hebrew) “treading under foot”
“The time is coming,” declares the LORD, “when I’ll raise up a righteous branch for
David. He will be a king who rules wisely, and he will administer justice and
righteousness in the land.
Jeremiah 23:5, 33:15
• Al Deramin (Arabic) “coming quickly as a circle”
• Al Derab (Arabic) “Coming in a circle”
• Al Phirk (Arabic) “the redeemer”
• Al Rai (Arabic) “the one who bruises, breaks”

31
This one is referred to by Arabs as the Shepherd.
Therefore, the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I promised that your branch of the tribe of
Levi would always be my priests. But I will honour those who honour me, and I will
despise those who think lightly of me.
1 Samuel 2:30
But in that day, the branch of the LORD will be beautiful and glorious; the fruit of the
land will be the pride and glory of all who survive in Israel.
Isaiah 4:2
Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot—yes, a new branch bearing fruit
from the old root.
Isaiah 11:1
Listen to me, O Yeshua the high priest, and all you other priests. You are symbols of
things to come. Soon I am going to bring my servant, the Branch.
Zechariah 3:8
Tell him, ‘This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: Here is the man called the
Branch. He will branch out from where he is and build the Temple of the LORD.
Zechariah 6:12
The motif of the Branch appears several times in the Mazzaroth, the ellipsis or path
across the heavens which incorporates the star signs which tell God salvation story.
Andromeda (the chained woman)
• Sirra (Hebrew) the chained
• Persea the stretched out

32
• Adhil the afflicted
• Mirach the weak
• Mizar the bound
• Al Mara (Arabic) the afflicted
• Al Moselsalah delivered from hell
• Al Phiratz “the broken down”
• Al Maach smitten or struck down
• Andromeda Greek) set free from death
• Desma the bound
He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them
among princes, placing them in seats of honor. For all the earth is the LORD’s, and he
has set the world in order.
1 Samuel 2:8
In that wonderful day when the LORD gives his people rest from sorrow and fear, from
slavery and chains,
Isaiah 14:3
Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we
thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!
Isaiah 53:4
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, for the LORD has anointed me to bring
good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim
that captives will be released, and prisoners will be freed.

33
Isaiah 61:1
Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before
Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said, “Quick! Get up!” And
the chains fell off his wrists.
Acts 12:7
We believers were in chains before being released by our Saviour. The Church is
depicted as a woman in the book of Revelation. Over the centuries the Church, the body
of Christ has been chained. The church will be released in power in the latter days as
God awakens her for a great in gathering of souls in the latter days.
Next Nugget we move on to look at the Constellation Aries: the Lamb or the Ram.
Aries:
• Taleh (Heb) = “the lamb” “sent forth”
• Al Hamal (Arabic) = “the sheep, gentle and merciful”
• Amroo (Syriac) “the lamb”

34
• Krios (Greek) “ram”
• Aries (Latin) ram
“God will provide a sheep for the burnt offering, my son,” Abraham answered. And they
both walked on together.
Genesis 22:8
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who
takes away the sin of the world!
John 1:29
Then I saw a Lamb that looked as if it had been slaughtered, but it was now standing
between the throne and the four living beings and among the twenty-four elders. He
had seven horns and seven eyes, which represent the sevenfold Spirit of God that is sent
out into every part of the earth.
Revelation 5:6
After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people
and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed
in white robes and held palm branches in their hands.
Revelation 7:9
Stars:
• Al Nath or Al Natik = “wounded”, “slain”
• Al Sheraton = “the bruised”, “the wounded”
• Mesartim = “the bound” or “binding”
• Shalisha – exalted, chief

35
• Ras al Thalitha – over the head is the triangle (a star in the triangle above Aries
head)
Which the Greeks said held the name of Deity.
• Deltoton (Greek) triangle, high, lifted up
• Baraziggar = “the sacrifice of righteousness”
The seed of the woman, the son of Man is the Lamb, slain from the foundation of the
world, who takes away the sin of the world. Remember Aries (the Ram / Lamb) is the
one who holds the bands fastened to the two fish. The Egyptians also celebrate the
Feast of the Ram with foliage and branches, and they put the mark of the feast over
their door. The Persians have a similar festival of Aries
The Decans of Aries
First Decan – Cassiopeia – the enthroned woman
the beautiful
Stars:
• Shedar – the freed
• Caph – the branch in the hand
• Dat al Cursa the enthroned, set in place
• Ruchba – the seated
The true church, the woman glorified, holding a branch in one hand and adorning
herself with the other. Preparing herself for a coming public ceremony. Delivered from
evil.

36
• This is one of most beautiful constellations in the heavens. It includes four stars of the
third magnitude which form the seat on which this woman sits. This constellation
contains a binary star, a triple star, a double star, a quadruple star and an extraordinary
number of star clusters. On the 10 th of November 1572 a star surpassing in brilliance and
splendor all stars in the universe suddenly appeared and shone for 16 months only to
disappear and has never been seen since. It was a great mystery to astronomers. Many
believe it was symbolic of the church which grew and then disappeared under the
shadow of the dark ages.
• The ruling scepter is being offered to Cassiopeia from the king on her right. Her
beauty was lauded by the Greeks. She is indeed the spotless bride of the Lamb.
Second Decan – Cetus – Leviathan (sea monster), bound serpent
Stars:
• Menkar “the bound” or “chained enemy” (bound by the band which holds the
two Pisces.)
• Mira “the rebel thrust down”
• Diphda “overthrown”
The star Mira is unique – it is the most variable and unsteady of all stars in the heavens.
A star of the second magnitude dwindles away to become invisible, then reappears.
In Greek fable Cetus was the enemy of Andromeda; Perseus was the breaker of her
bondage:- the dragon, the serpent, the devil, Satan.
Third Decan – Perseus – the armed man
Perseus (Greek) “the breaker”
Stars:

37
• Mirfak (Hebrew) “who assists”
• Athik “who breaks” (by his left foot)
• Al Genib (Arabic) “who carries away”
• Bershaush (Persian) “the breaker”
The stars in the head carried by Perseus
• Medusa (Hebrew) “the trodden under foot”
• Rosh Satan “the head of the enemy”
• Al Oneh (Arabic) “the subdued or weakened”
• Al Ghoul (Arabic) “the evil spirit”
This one is the Lamb of the Apocalypse – the defeater of the arch enemy.
He holds the head of the serpent. He holds a sword in his right hand
He who upholds the fishes and subdues the enemy.
Next Nugget turns our attention to Taurus.
Taurus:

38
• Shur (Hebrew) the bull coming to rule
• Al Thaur (Arabic) the bull
• Al Thaur (Syriac) the ruling bull
• Isis (Coptic) = who saves mightily, who delivers
• Egyptian – the mighty chieftain who comes
• Horus (Egyptian) = the bull
• Tor (Chaldee) the bull
• Tauros (Grk) = bull
• Taurus (Latin) = the bull
Stars:
• Al Debaran (Chaldee) meaning “leader”, “governor” (this star is in the bull’s eye)
• Al Nath (Arabic) meaning “wounded”, “slain”
• Pleiades meaning “the congregation of the judge”
• Al Cyone = “the centre, foundation”
• Wasat (Arabic) “centre of foundation”
• Palilicium = “belonging to the Judge”
• Hyades meaning “the congregated”
• Judgement verses abound in the Bible. Here are some with particular relevance to
Taurus and Eridanus.
Isaiah 11:1,5; 30:27-28; Isaiah 13:11-13; Jeremiah 16:16-18; Daniel 7:9-11;

39
2 Thessalonians 1:7-9; 2 Peter 3:10; Revelation 6:12-17; 20:14,15
The Decans of Taurus
Orion – “he who comes forth as light”
Al Giauzâ – the branch
Al Gebor – the mighty one
Al Mirzam – the prince, the ruler
Al Nitak – the wounded
Stars
• Betelgeuse – the coming of the Branch (in the head of Orion)
• Rigol – the foot of the one treading underfoot
• Al Rai – the bruising
• Bellatrix – hastily coming (in Orion’s left breast)
• Saiph – in the foot of Orion (“bruised”)
• Mintaka – dividing, the belt
• Thabit (Hebrew) “treading on”
Orion’s left foot is crushing the enemy. In his head is the huge star Betelgeuse, which is
600 light years away, and is a reddish color. It is about 400 times larger than our own
Sun. The ancient saw Orion as a giant in the heavens.
“Can you direct the movement of the stars—binding the cluster of the Pleiades or
loosening the cords of Orion? Can you direct the constellations through the seasons or

40
guide the Bear with her cubs across the heavens? Do you know the laws of the universe?
Can you use them to regulate the earth?
Job 38:31-33
My question would be how much was Job and the other ancient writers aware of the
connections they were making?
Eridanus – the river of judgement, the river of the judge
Stars:
Phaet – the mouth of the river
Achernar – the after part of the river
Cursa – bent down
Ozba – the going forth
Zourak – flowing
Auriga – the shepherd holding a goat
Auriga (Latin) means conductor of the reins
In Hebrew he is the shepherd.
In Greek he is the driver or the charioteer. Yet another depiction of Christ who keeps
appearing in different forms throughout the Mazzaroth.

41
Stars:
• Aiyuk (Arabic) wounded in the foot
• Al Nath (Arabic) wounded in the heel (the horn of Taurus pierces Auriga in the
heel)
• Gedi (Hebrew) the kid
• Capella (Latin) the goat, atonement,
located in the heart of the goat he is holding, signifying the compassion of the shepherd
for the sheep and the goats. The goat is clinging to the shepherd but looking back to
the Bull. In some depictions of the Mazzaroth the goat is depicted as a lamb. The Bible
uses both to indicate those who are shepherded.
Isaiah 40:10,11; Psalms 37

42
• The connections between the 12 constellations of the Mazzaroth (Zodiac) and their
associated decans is complex and detailed with many recurring themes or motifs. I can’t
hope to do justice to the detailed connections in a single Nugget on each star sign. I am
merely giving you a potted summary.
• For instance, looking back at the Star signs for the last weeks there is a connection
between the chained Andromeda who is then transformed into the enthroned
Cassiopeia, which is a depiction of church history and the appearance of the church as
the bride of Christ. Likewise, judgment begins with the church and finally has its ultimate
judgements unleashed on the ungodly. Taurus seems to arise out of the body of Aries.
Taurus is set opposite the Scorpio on the Mazzaroth. So that when the bull rises the
scorpion sets. Among the ancient kingdoms of the cradle of civilization they associated
Taurus the bull with the judgment of the flood.
• Despite the fact that a bull was used in the Old Testament sacrificial system for a sin or
burnt offering there is no hint in the Constellation of Taurus that the focus has any
connection to the offerings. Here the focus is solely on judgement. Taurus depicts the
coming Judge.
For it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. That is why, when
Christ came into the world, he said to God, “You did not want animal sacrifices or sin
offerings. But you have given me a body to offer. You were not pleased with burnt
offerings or other offerings for sin. (Hebrews 10:4-6).
Gemini:

43
Gemini – The Twins
• Thaumim (Hebrew) = united, twined
• Clusus, (Coptic) station of the coming
• Claustrum Hor (Egypt) “the place of him who cometh”
• Pi Mahi (Coptic) the united (as in brotherhood)
• Al Tauman (Arabic, Syriac) the twins, the pair
• Didumoi (Greek) Twins
• Gemini (Latin) Twins
Stars in Gemini
• Propus (Heb) – the branch (bough) spreading out
• Mebsuts (Heb) – treading under foot
• Wasat (Arabic) – set, appointed

44
• Al Giazâ – the palm branch
• Al Henah – hurt or wounded in the foot
• Al Dirâ – the seed, the branch
• Apollo – ruler or judge
• Castor – coming quickly
• Pollux – ruler or judge
• Hercules – who cometh to labour or suffer
• Al Henah – hurt, wounded
• Hercules is shown bearing a branch and many other motifs contained in these Star
signs keep surfacing. In some ancient signs systems Gemini is depicted as two kid goats
or two dogs (Canis Major and Canis Minor). What astounds me in all of these signs is
the consistency across the languages. The intricacy of the details match in multiple ways,
so much so that it leaves me breathless.
• Did those of you who have been following the Bible Gems notice something which
connects between the Gems and the Nuggets? Did you notice the names of the two
stars above, Castor and Pollux. Does it ring a bell for you? The name of the ship which
took Paul from Malta to Puteoli was called Castor and Pollux The Twins (Acts 28:11)
Oaths were often taken in the name of The Twins because it was thought to add a sense
of utmost truth, covering the bases by naming the two gods – Gemini, the Twins.
Decans of Gemini
1. The Hare – The Enemy
• Arnebo (Heb) – the enemy of him that cometh

45
• Arnebeth (Arabic) – the hare, the enemy of the one who comes
• Rakis – the bound
• Sugia – the deceiver
• Lepus – the hare, treading under foot
2. Sirius – The Prince
• Sirius (Heb) The Prince
• Aschere – who shall come
• Al Shira, Al Jemeniya – the Prince, or chief of the right hand
• Seir (Egyptian) the prince
• Abur (Heb) the mighty
• Al Habor (Arabic) the mighty
• Muliphen – the leader, the chief
3. Procyon – The Redeemer
• Procyon (Heb) the Redeemer
• Al Shemeliya (Arabic) the prince, the chief of the left hand
• Al Mirzam – the prince, ruler
• Al Gomeyra – the one who completes of perfects
• Al Gomeisa – the burdened, bearing the burden for others
One Christian interpretation is that Gemini includes both the union of Christ and His
church but there is also a link to the dual nature of Christians, as in the case of Pisces,
the one looking heavenward and the one bound to the earth. The notion in the

46
second being that there will be two types of Christians saved, those whole-heartedly
committed to Christ and those who arrive in heaven by the skin of their teeth with the
smell of fire upon them.
• Rather than do what I have done in the other Mazzaroth signs and give you a range of
verses contained the ideas expressed in the stars signs, I will give you one block of text
expressed as one of the interpretations of Gemini from 1 Corinthians 3:9-15:
For we are God’s co-workers. You are God’s farmland and God’s building. As an expert
builder using the grace that God gave me, I laid the foundation, and someone else is
building on it. But each person must be careful how he builds on it. After all, no one can
lay any other foundation than the one that is already laid, and that is Jesus the Messiah.
Whether a person builds on this foundation with gold, silver, expensive stones, wood,
hay, or straw, the workmanship of each person will become evident, for the day of
judgment will show what it is, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test
the quality of each person’s action. If what a person has built on the foundation survives,
he will receive a reward. If his work is burned up, he will suffer loss. However, he himself
will be saved, but it will be like going through fire.
1 Corinthians 3:9-15
• Ultimately whichever of these two interpretations is in focus, all of us who love the
Lord and are redeemed by His blood will participate in the Marriage Feast of Lamb in
Heaven.
• Some of you have asked why I keep calling these star signs Mazzaroth and not the
Zodiac? Firstly, because Mazzaroth is the name given in Hebrew for the twelve
constellations chosen on elliptical course of the earth around the sun along with their 36
associated decans. Secondly, because of the connotation attached to the Greek term,
Zodiac.

47
We have two-star signs left: Cancer and Leo. We will look into the constellation of
Cancer next Nugget.
Particular Features of the Constellation of Cancer
Difficult to determine the variations expressed in this sign across the systems of star
signs. E.g. Scarabaeus (Egyptian) the scarab beetle. It is difficult to determine which sign
was the most ancient, therefore hard to determine primacy.
• In the Mazzaroth Cancer linked to Pisces –> fish ~ Christians
• Multiple legs – numerous members of the body.
• The crab goes through growth stages or metamorphosis and serially sheds its
shell. (Putting off the old man)
• Scarab beetle goes through beetle stage, becomes a chrysalis then grows wings
and flies.
• The ability and tenacity of the crab to hold on appears to be in focus.
• Prasaepe – one of the brightest nebula in the skies; it is often mistaken for the
head of a comet.
• Called in modern astronomy “the beehive”. It’s a collection of innumerable stars –
exactly the idea expressed in the Scripture relating to the descendants of
Abraham. (Genesis 22:17, Galatians 3:16)
Asellus Borealis and Asellus Australis – the she-ass – both straddle Praesepe.
• A parallel idea to what is expressed in Pisces with the northern and southern fish
bound to the lamb with cords. Here again as in Pisces there appear to be two classes of

51
redeemed bound together. Both the connection to Issachar (Deuteronomy 33:18-19)
and Jacob’s prophecy (Genesis 49:10-15) are reflective of that; everything links together.
How like God to do that. Each of these references among many others reflect the final
achievements of seed of the woman, (the children of God.)
• Cancer represents our need to cling to God and preserve and His loving arms around
the assembled multitude eternally. At least that was the original intention in the
Mazzaroth across all ancient languages before the Zodiac was corrupted with other
interpretations.
• The Greeks called Ursa Minor, Areas or Arktos which derives from Arx meaning “the
stronghold of the saved”. Aish or Ash in the Ursa Major constellation, ancient Jewish
commentators claimed refers to the Seven Stars of Ursa Major or the seed of the
woman. Some link these seven stars to the seven churches in Revelation. Well, you have
to admit it makes sense. The seven stars in Ursa Major could even depict an enclosed
sheepfold as some claim.
There is much to be said about the Pole Star in Ursa Minor, but I will save that until we
put all the pieces together after we have finished the 12 constellations and their
associated Decans.
There is one constellation remaining – Leo (The Conquering Lion of Judah) next Nugget.
Leo:

52
Leo: The Lion
• Arieh (Heb) – the lion “lion”, the lion rending
• Al Asad (Arabic) – “the lion who rends, lays to waste”
• Pi-Mentekeon (Coptic) – plucking asunder
• Leon (Greek) – lion
• Leo (Latin) – the lion
• Leo (Arabic and Syriac) – coming vehemently as a flame
Stars:
• Regulus (Heb) – treading under foot
• Zosma – shining forth, sparkling
• Sarcam – joining of wrapping together
• Denebola – the judge, the Lord who cometh
• Deneb – the judge cometh and seizes
• Al Giebha (Arabic) – the exaltation

53
• Minchir al Asad – the one who punishes, the tearing of the lion
• Al Defera – the enemy thrust down
• Deneb al Eced – the judge who comes and seizes violently
Judah, my son, is a young lion that has finished eating its prey. Like a lion he crouches
and lies down; like a lioness—who dares to rouse him? The sceptre will not depart from
Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from his descendants, until the coming of the one to whom it
belongs, the one whom all nations will honour.
Genesis 49:9-10
The king’s fury is like a lion’s roar; to rouse his anger is to risk your life.
Proverbs 20:2
But one of the twenty-four elders said to me, “Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe
of Judah, the heir to David’s throne, has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll
and its seven seals. “Then I saw a Lamb that looked as if it had been slaughtered, but it
was now standing between the throne and the four living beings and among the
twenty-four elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which represent the sevenfold
Spirit of God that is sent out into every part of the earth.
Revelation 5:5-6
Psalms 50:3-5, 22, 110:1, Amos 1:2, 3:8, Hosea 5:14, 13: 7-8,
• Christ is the Lamb for believers and the Lion for the condemned
The Decans of Leo
Hydra – The Serpent
• Hydra (Heb) – He is abhorred

54
• Al Drian (Arabic) – the abhorred
• Al Phard (Arabic) – the separated
• Minchir al Sugia – piercing of the deceiver
And the dragon lost the battle, and he and his angels were forced out of heaven. This
great dragon—the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the
whole world—was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.
Revelation12:8-9
He seized the dragon—that old serpent, who is the devil, Satan—and bound him in
chains for a thousand years.
Then the devil, who had deceived them, was thrown into the fiery lake of burning sulfur,
joining the beast and the false prophet. There they will be tormented day and night
forever and ever.
Revelation 20:2, 10
• The Greek myths depicted Herakles as having the one mission, to destroy the Hydra. In
the Egyptian Dendera the Lion stands directly on the Serpent above which is the name
Knem meaning vanquished or conquered. The seed of the woman shall indeed crush the
serpents head.
Genesis 3:15
Crater – The Cup (of Wrath)
• Ches (Heb) – the cup
• Al Ches – the cup

55
For the LORD holds a cup in his hand that is full of foaming wine mixed with spices. He
pours out the wine in judgment, and all the wicked must drink it, draining it to the
dregs.
Psalms 75:8
Wake up, wake up, O Jerusalem! You have drunk the cup of the LORD’s fury. You have
drunk the cup of terror, tipping out its last drops.
Isaiah 51:17
Then a third angel followed them, shouting, “Anyone who worships the beast and his
statue or who accepts his mark on the forehead or on the handmust drink the wine of
God’s anger. It has been poured full strength into God’s cup of wrath. And they will be
tormented with fire and burning sulphur in the presence of the holy angels and the
Lamb.
Revelation 14:9-10
Corvus – The Crow or Raven
• Chiba (Heb) – the accursed, the curse afflicted (star in the eye of the Raven)
• Gorab (Arabic) – the raven
• Al Chibar – the joining together, coupled, linked (appears twice in both the Raven
and the Hydra
• Minchir al Gorab – piercing of the raven
• Her-na (Egyptian) – the enemy broken
Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, shouting to the vultures flying high in the sky:
“Come! Gather together for the great banquet God has prepared. Their entire army was

56
killed by the sharp sword that came from the mouth of the one riding the white horse.
And the vultures all gorged themselves on the dead bodies.
Revelation 19:17,21
Ezekiel 39:17, Proverbs 30:17, 1 Samuel 17:46,
• The Lion’s feet are over the head of Hydra, the serpent.
• The appearance of the Lion ushers in a great and awful sorrow and a great and
glorious consummation at the same time.
• The seven seals of Revelation bears witness to the bonds (legality) of forfeit or
the assurance of inheritance.
• Across multiple cultures the lion is associated with royalty and dominion, i.e. the
king of the beasts.
• The golden censers of the heavenly temple pour fire on the earth in judgement;
the cup or bowls of wrath are poured out.
• We have covered each of the 12 Constellations of the Mazzaroth (Zodiac) and their
associated Decans. Much more could be said and of course there is more detail
involved. I have not given you an exhaustive list of Bible references for each
constellation and its associated three decans but have merely given you some key
references to point you to the related biblical themes.
