WHEN DID YOU START AT NETJETS?
I just celebrated my 25-year anniversary with NetJets.
I spent my first seven years out of college at a public
accounting firm. NetJets was one of my clients and
offered me a job, which I started in October of 1998. At
the time I was hired as Corporate Controller, NetJets
had only approximately 140 aircraft under management,
compared to the 1,000 we have now.
WHAT DOES YOUR NORMAL DAY CONSIST
OF? Normal days don’t really exist, but I do have
months that can be more predictable based on the
time of year. I oversee the financial affairs of the
global organization, which includes teams in Lisbon,
Portugal, Cincinnati, Ohio, and our headquarters
in Columbus. My responsibilities include monthly,
quarterly, and annual reporting of financial results to
our shareholders and our Board of Directors, financial
forecasting, hosting a financial business review each
week with our global leaders, and managing the budget
and 10-year plan for the company. In addition to these
financial responsibilities, as a member of the Executive
Leadership Team, I am also involved in the overall
strategy and leadership of the business.
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE YOU FACE
IN YOUR ROLE? How to balance opportunity with
appropriate risk management. Growing in a fiscally
prudent and responsible way is challenging because we
only grow with safety and service prioritized. We must
be compliant and controlled so we can continue building
a business for all economic conditions.
