first WibuBox supports added data storage,
expiration dates, modular licenses and network

same executable can be a demo version, include
optional modules, include pay-per-use schemes,
time limited licenses and network floating licenses.

Network Floating Licenses
Flexible license management with only one
software-protection hardware, a dongle, in the
network, makes sense in all business applications.
Customers start often with a single user
license and upgrade later to a multi-user floating
license. In this case, it’s easy and convenient for
you: You simply program the network license
quantity into the WibuBox or CodeMeter Stick at
your customer site, i.e. by using a remote update
file, without replacement of the dongle.
Time Limited Licenses
WibuKey supports an expiration date in the
dongle, CodeMeter improves on this approach
with an internal clock but without a battery.
The clock is running with crystal precision and
is put forward by the PCs system time, but only
forward. To set the time backwards, you need to
get a time certificate, provided by the Internet in
a manipulation safe way. CodeMeter also takes
advantage of “certified time servers”.
Pay-Per-Use
WibuKey has up to 5 Limit Counters. CodeMeter
tops this again with hundreds of Unit Counters.
They can be decremented by 1 to 10,000 in
one step so that you can realize even the most
complex requirements and create benefits for
your customers.
