Reviewing our performance<br />
Two major milest<strong>on</strong>es in <strong>2011</strong> were an internal audit of graphics and printing; and an<br />
external review of <strong>ILRI</strong> communicati<strong>on</strong>s (that was much wider than KMIS).<br />
The internal audit identified a number of urgent acti<strong>on</strong>s in the Nairobi graphics<br />
operati<strong>on</strong>s: To make better use of the space, to clear out unused equipment, to tighten<br />
financial oversight and procedures, to reduce costs. The recommendati<strong>on</strong>s were acted<br />
up<strong>on</strong>. The space is reduced and cleared, equipment has been discarded, the c<strong>on</strong>tract with<br />
Muth<strong>on</strong>i Njiru was appointed 50% graphics and 50% Public Awareness to manage our<br />
graphics activities in Nairobi (as well as much else). We expect to further c<strong>on</strong>solidate<br />
Nairobi graphics into the infocenter space in early 2012.<br />
The external review of our communicati<strong>on</strong>s touched <strong>on</strong> many aspects of KMIS work. The<br />
report of the c<strong>on</strong>sultant (available at http://mahider.ilri.org/handle/10568/3893) identified<br />
and recommendati<strong>on</strong>s:<br />

A number of the recommendati<strong>on</strong>s are already being implemented or c<strong>on</strong>sidered; the<br />
report was also discussed with <strong>ILRI</strong> Management Committee in June <strong>2011</strong>.
