Succeed at Westminster College
Westminster College has many
distinguishing characteristics
that position it as a leader in liberal arts
education today:
• Its safe 300-acre picturesque campus
nestled in the tranquil rolling hills of
western Pennsylvania;
• A commitment to personal attention from
experienced, acclaimed professors (91
percent hold their doctorates or terminal
degrees);
• Unique curriculum featuring a First-Year
Program designed to prepare students
for a liberal arts education at Westminster
College and continued success after
graduation;
• 41 majors and several pre-professional
programs – All students have the
opportunity to double major or
create their own major (individual
interdisciplinary).
Size and fit
The personality of Westminster College
is friendly, lively and nurturing, but with
a clear, dedicated focus on academic
achievement. Enrollment is about 1,400
– large enough to promote diversity, yet
small enough to sustain a close sense of
community and belonging.
The campus is located in the small
borough of New Wilmington, away
from the concerns of a large urban area,
but close enough to the cosmopolitan
opportunities and resources of some of the
country’s most exciting renaissance cities.
Pittsburgh is 60 minutes south of campus
and Cleveland is 90 minutes northwest of
campus.
Academic reputation
Graduating with a degree from
Westminster College has definite
advantages. A quick look at the broad
national recognition and status the College
has received speaks for itself. Admitted
students consistently score above the
national average on ACT and SAT tests,
which further supports Westminster’s
outstanding academic stature.
In addition to earning a strong reputation
academically, Westminster is nationally
ranked as an institution that fosters high
personal values and character. Money
magazine’s “Money Guide” has ranked
Westminster College as one of the nation’s
“Top Ten Liberal Arts Havens.”
