A Community of Success
Since 1958, Silver Spring
Neighborhood Center has existed
as an important stabilizing presence
on Milwaukee’s northwest side. The
Center is a comprehensive social
service agency whose mission is to
build a safer, stronger neighborhood
and community. For fifty-two years,
based on the settlement house model,
Silver Spring has served the residents
in the heart of Westlawn, the State of
Wisconsin’s largest low-income housing
development, as well as residents
from many nearby neighborhoods.
Each year, the Center serves more
than 8,652 individuals, from infants
to senior citizens, as it helps them
advance in social, emotional,
academic, vocational, and health
spheres of their lives. Silver Spring is
widely recognized for its more than 40
collaborations with community partners,
diligent oversight and responsiveness,
and consistent evidenced-based results.
