Paul Crook - 

New Paintings

Paul Crook is an artist and lecturer in 

Fine Art based in Leamington Spa who 

has exhibited widely in Ireland, UK and 

Europe. In this exhibition Paul questions 

the way we understand and engage with 

the urban landscape that surrounds us, 

depicting a generic, North European 

urban landscape that is recognisable.

Leah is a Galway based artist 

who has exhibited widely 

in Ireland. Leah’s paintings 

are connected with the 

surrounding landscape and are 

inspired by journeys through 

the Connemara countryside. 

From the mountains at dawn, 

or the bog at dusk, to the 

beach on a summer’s day, this 

collection of work will engage 

the viewer and bring them on a 

journey through Connemara. 

Stephen Shaw 

Fri 15 Feb - Sat 9 Mar | FOYER WALLS 

Kevin Miller has exhibited widely throughout Ireland and Europe. This 

exhibition comprises a series of small paintings and wall sculptures. The 

artist is concerned with the notion about a painting as an object, the idea 

that any simple object always exceeds what a person can experience of it. 

Belfast-based artist Stephen Shaw depicts in 

watercolour, buildings and streets in towns 

and villages often overlooked by other artists 

but recognisable all the same. Stephen has 

gained a reputation for depicting forgotten 

and decaying parts of Ireland and here 

exhibits outside of Belfast for the first time.

Caitriona Bale

Dublin-based artist Caitriona Bale has exhibited widely in venues 

across Ireland and further afield. She works in watercolour, charcoal 

and oils, basing works on her understanding of the natural 

landscape and how people experience the stillness in different ways.

- A Darker Hue

Wicklow artist Barbara O’Meara has exhibited 

across Ireland, Europe and USA. Here she presents 

a new body of paintings inspired by her interest 

in and investigation of a sunken yew forest on the 

Irish coastline and the response to our connection 

with nature and the fragility of our lives.

Artists, designers and makers 

will exhibit exceptional works in 

media such as ceramics, furniture, 

jewellery, glass and textiles. The 

exhibition will display some of the 

best Craft, Applied Art and Design 

being created. This exhibition will 

culminate in Armagh City Craft Fair 

on Friday 24 & Saturday 25 May. 

An exhibition of images by photographer Tim Doak who documented 

the life of Jason Smyth. Following the death of his wife after a brave 

battle with cancer Jason’s pastor suggested he build a loft on the roof 

of the church. Jason keeps pigeons. Tim Doak captures the story in 

photographs.

Collins spent a night drinking together, talking, arguing, even 

singing and reciting poetry. They emerged from this session

sail from Liverpool for Canada. 

On board were 90 evacuees escaping the relentless bombing 

and dangers of war torn Britain. Four days into the crossing, 

the ship was torpedoed and sank. Only eleven of the evacuees 

survived. Bess, 15 and Beth, 14 spent nineteen terrifying hours 

in the water on an upturned lifeboat. They willed each other to 

survive. This is their story.

Children 

Children aged two and 

under may attend suitable 

performances for free but 

must be seated and must be 

in possession of a valid ticket. 

Latecomers 

Latecomers will only be 

admitted if there is a suitable 

break, which in some cases 

may be the interval. Where 

there is no interval or suitable 

break we reserve the right 

to refuse admission and no 

refund can be issued. 

Support Acts 

For some performances, a 

support act will precede the 

headline act, particularly for 

popular music events and 

comedy. Whilst The Market 

Place endeavours to inform 

patrons about such support acts 

in advance, on some occasions 

this may not be possible. 

Special Assistance 

Our staff are delighted to provide special assistance, if 

required, to disabled and other theatregoers. Our facilities 

include spaces for ten wheelchairs, lifts to all levels of the 

building, low level access at the Box Office, and an infra-red 

system to assist patrons with hearing difficulties. 

Customers using wheelchairs or those who require special 

assistance attending an event should contact the Box Office in 

advance so that appropriate assistance can be arranged. 

Parking & Directions 

Parking may be available to patrons on performance evenings 

in Saint Patrick’s Trian multi-storey car park. Simply follow 

signs for The Market Place Theatre, Saint Patrick’s Trian or The 

Tourist Information Centre. 

The Theatre is situated at the top level of the car park, 

although parking is available on all levels. On-street parking 

is also available nearby, at The Mall and Sainsbury’s Car Park 

[Top Level].

video equipment and food and drinks are strictly prohibited in

Patrons who may experience 

difficulties with such effects 

should note that The Market
