15.00-16.30 panel session: regional eConoMiC ouTlooK
Moderator: Steve Brady, General Manager, Ensco plc
Rig count is one of the most often watched indicators of the oil and
gas industry’s confidence in its future. Oil prices have stabilized in the
wake of the price drop of late 2008 but offshore rig utilization in the
Middle East has not followed. Domestic natural gas demand is rising
in most Middle East countries although LNG demand has reached
a plateau. New build rig orders are beginning to flow to ship yards
again; is this a result of an increase in rig demand or are other factors
driving the upswing? What does the future hold for the Middle East
drilling business? This panel will discuss future demand for oil and gas
commodities and their effect on the demand for rigs in the Middle East
and elsewhere.
