Club Development
The Team Hounslow Athletic Club committee has been
working behind the scenes in a bid to affiliate our club
with England Athletics.
When the affiliation has been awarded, this will be a huge
achievement for our new club and a reflection of the work
by everyone involved – athletes, coaches, parents, officials,
Sports Development Team, School Sport Partnership and
Osterley Sports and Athletics Centre.
The two final steps that need completing before we send
the application to England Athletics are:
� Finalise the bank account for the club (all the forms
have been completed and submitted).
� Introduce Team Hounslow club membership.
Further details of membership including benefits, necessity
and cost will be released shortly. In relation to this, please
welcome Nicola Collins to the committee who has been
appointed as the Membership Secretary for the club.

Elaine has been hard at work organising kit for Team
Hounslow and the final designs are in! It looks fab! Kit will
be available to order once membership has been
introduced.
The number of athletes continues to grow at a fast rate and
it’s exciting to see so many young people attending training
regularly and improving as athletes.
Enjoy the Olympics - hopefully the creation of Team
Hounslow Athletic Club will ensure people from the area
have a greater chance of becoming Olympians of the future!

Club Notices
� Every Sunday the track is available for you to
take part in the Family 2012m Challenge.
Between 11:00 – 14:00 and at a cost of £1 a
person, you can use the track for as long as you
wish with the aim of everyone running/walking
at least 2012m (just over 5 laps of the track).
� On Monday evenings between 18:00 – 19:00 a
Run, Jump, Throw session takes place for adults.
This is suitable for all levels and gives you the
chance to exercise while your children are
training. Enquire at reception if you’re
interested!
� Training over the Summer Holidays is to be
confirmed.
Startrack Athletics
In our Olympic Summer we have two Startrack
programmes at Osterley.
If you want to have fun at a week-long camp of
athletics, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
The programmes are:
Monday 30 th July – Friday 3 rd August
Monday 13 th August – Friday 17 th August
Activities each day are from 13:00 – 16:00 and
everyday there’ll be coaching, challenges and
competition. Children between the age of 8 – 15
years old are invited to attend our Startrack
programmes, which costs £35 for the week, or £8
per day. As usual, athletes are kitted out in Startrack
t-shirts and goodie bags given out to those attending
at least two days. Places are limited so please
contact the Sports Centre to secure a spot!

Meet Tee-Jay Farrell…
Role: UKA Athletics Leader
Why did you get involved with Team
Hounslow?
I started coaching this year and already I
thoroughly enjoy doing it. Just knowing that
I’m helping young athletes get better and
better every week gives me a huge sense of
pride for them. During the coaching, a lot of
athletes have competed in competitions and
have done very well. If not for me and the rest of the coaches
especially Jess I don’t think it would be possible for them.
What do you enjoy most?
Getting to know the young athletes of both age groups has really
boosted my confidence at speaking in big groups and given me a lot
of responsibilities having to look after them on my own and getting to
know them has taught me to alter my coaching style to fit the needs
of the athletes. Overall I really enjoy coaching and it has helped me
not only progress as a coach doing it week in week out but in my
social life too.
Second West London Athletics
Network QuadKids Competition in
2012 Series
Thirteen athletes from Team Hounslow competed in the
second WLAN QuadKids of the year at the Linford Christie
Stadium, our first visit to the track as a club.
Our athletes were competing against Ealing, Southall &
Middlesex AC, Thames Valley Harriers (the host club) and
Perivale Panthers. In a change from the normal format, the four
events on offer were 75m, 300m, shot putt and long jump with
athletes earning points in each event. Thank you to Mr Fisher
(Grace and Lauren’s Dad) for driving a mini bus to the event, and
to all the parents who helped at events.
The athletes representing Team Hounslow were:
Sarah Abdul, Marlowe McGlynn, Jade Greene, Pippa Dawson,
Tilly Harwood, Lauren Fisher, Grace Fisher, A' isha Raoui, Josiah
(JJ) Wilson, Thomas Knight, Joseph (Jak) Mensah, Luke McHugh-
Sangster and Jude Wiles.

London Youth
Games
A group of athletes from Team Hounslow
represented our Borough at Crystal
Palace on Sunday 1 st July at the London
Youth Games.
Teams from every borough competed at
the fantastic stadium against some of the
top athletes from London.
The Hounslow girls finished 14 th (out of the
33 teams), while the boys were 17 th .
Overall, Hounslow finished 22 nd in the
competition. Congratulations to the
following athletes who were part of the
team:
Maeve Lane, Georgina Wile, Hannah Lim,
Lewis Graham and Marc Tidon.
